    i purchased this pepper the other day and since then, maybe a week has past with daily watering, and a good 5-6 hours of direct sunlight, it seems to be a pale-ish green instead of a nice dark green. i water with GH 3 part macro and micro fertilizer. im planning to transfer it to another pot soon but its still quite small for the pot its currently in right now actually.

    how long does the growing process take from seed to fruit? 3 months?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  4 года назад +3

      That depend on your zone, watering, soil, temperature, etc. We started the seeds in January and picked fruit in August.

    Do you need to pollinate these, the same way you do a pumpkin? I have a Moruga Scorpion seedling. Only one plant, the rest of the seeds did nothing.

    I'm growing the carolina Reaper pepper for the second year. I also have a trinidad scorpion pepper this year for the first time. I'm growing them in 5 gallon buckets. The reaper pepper in my profile picture is from last year.

      We do not raise seeds for this variety and we do not distribute plants to the public except at two plant sale fundraisers per year.

    Thanks for the video. I am growing one plant indoors in a hydro setup. Out of curiosity how long does a plant take to go from seed to producing usually? Mine is about a foot tall and as healthy as can be. It seems to grow slow though. Its like 2 months from seed right now.

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  9 лет назад

      This depends on growing conditions. We planted the seeds in January. We were harvesting ripe peppers in September.

    I have three plants growing, and have seen a lot of flowers. The flowers all seem to wither and die. Is there a pollination issue, or is july just too early for the peppers?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  9 лет назад

      +Michael VandeVenter We think that July is early for plants to be setting flowers. The blossom drop might be due to watering or high temperatures.

    So I planted my peppers back in November and around January the growth became stunted so I used plant fertilizer on them and there at the stage to put in the ground but how long till the flowers bloom for the pepper plants? It's been almost 5 months.

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  7 лет назад +1

      It depends on soil, temperature, watering, daylight hours, etc. We germinated our seeds in January. We transplanted into the garden in April/May. We harvested in August/September. So from seed to harvest was about eight to nine months in Santa Clara County, California, USA.

    Hi, I have my own plant and it's still growing. How much time do i have to wait until i can have a pepper?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  8 лет назад

      From seed planting to harvest will depend on temperature, daylight hours, watering, and fertilizer (if used). In this video the seeds were germinated in January. The fruits were picked in August/September.

    can you keep them in the green house? or should they be outside? would you recommend crushed egg shells?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  8 лет назад +1

      Yes, they can be grown in a green house. In our area the climate is fine for outdoor cultivation. We do not use egg shells.

    Hi Jim hey I also wanted to ask I have my 4 scorpions plants growing very well, my plants has many flowers but no peppers yet, and it's been weeks, is their anyway I can pollinate it myself to speed up the process, I've started these plants in January from seed. Thx

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  8 лет назад

      We have not pollinated by hand so we cannot advise you whether it might bear fruit.

    Do you prune the plants or is this straight growth from seed?

    • @mgsantaclara

      Amenti We grew from seed. We do not prune the pepper plants.

  • @JAYWLEE

    I;m using a 18-18-18 water soluble fertilizer Is this good for a reaper and a trinidad plant?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  7 лет назад

      We grew our Trinidad Moruga Scorpion chiles without using that fertilizer. We only used composted soil and mulch after transplanting. So, we cannot comment on which kind of fertilizer to use.

    Hello,How long did it take for the seeds to sprout?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  8 лет назад +2

      It depends. About 10 days if you keep them warm. We planted as shown in the video in January.

    how many times a week do you water the plant?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  7 лет назад +2

      It depends. If the weather is hot and dry you'll need to apply more water. If the leaves start to wilt, that is a good time to water.

    • @galizetteborrero1106
      @galizetteborrero1106 7 лет назад

      +Karthick Raghavan They seem to do best with Ph between 5.5 and 6.8.

    hey please respond I have a question my Trinidad scorpion peppers have flowers but they keep falling off it might be the temperature but I don't know

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  7 лет назад +4

      Hard to say what is causing blossom drop. Water, soil nutrients, temperatures, pathogens could all be a fault. Assuming you are in the USA and live in a temperate region, May is early for blossoming. Early blossoming can be a sign of plant stress. Sorry we cannot tell you more.

    I'm wanting to grow some but I can't find any information on how often they produce peppers and how fast they mature. Could someone please tell me?

    • @mgsantaclara
      @mgsantaclara  7 лет назад

      That will depend on your climate. This video lesson shows when seeds germinated, when seedlings were transplanted and when fruit was picked.

    0.30 You mentioned that the Trinidad Morunga Scorpion is the hottest, Carolina Reaper
    The Hottest Pepper in 2020 is the infamous Carolina Reaper! While a lot of other contenders have come onto the market in the past few years, the Reaper still carries the Guinness World Record crown for being the world's hottest pepper in 2020.Jan 2, 2020 Would appreciate your opinion as there is a lot of websites stating this.
    Ps. i enjoyed your video on Elephant Garlic, it explained growing it well, thank you.
