    13:56 I think we discovered a hybrid of two tactics which I'll call "Discovered Defense" for Discovered Attack and Indirect Defense. The name is also fitting because this type of defense would need to be discovered as both a discovered attack and a defense, despite the moved piece being in danger, and as per Levy a.k.a. GothamChess, "danger levels".

    If anyone else is confused by Kf8 at 17:50 - 19:00:
    Both Ne7 and Be7 are at least as good as Kf8.
    I think Nelson forgot to enable castling rights when analyzing the position, or he forgot to mention that black previously has lost castling rights.

What amazes me is how content creators in any category keep relsvant considering after a while they must think i havd done every relevant video possible so WHAT DO I DO NOW!!!. Thats where taking a relevant skill set or theme and making it a regular segment helps eg weekly chess pattern /tactic vids. Otherwise you get them makjng the same vid again later and people lament oh u already done thst but turn it intoba regular segment and they dont. Also collaborations help here too. Just to be devil’s advocate here, but is it possible that the reason few games are lost in the opening is that most of us do spend a lot of time on that phase of the game and the studying is paying off.

    • @mattwilliams4265
      @mattwilliams4265 2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah he just drew sort of the wrong conclusion. The openings are easy to memorize and most people do memorize a handful and they’re usually the most common openings so there’s just fewer mistakes. If you don’t know your openings you’re gonna get into trouble quite quickly especially against traps in common openings

    16:12 if the white knight moves black check mates. Then once white castled things changed so much. Now if the white knight moves, depending on what black does, white has some checkmate possibilities of his own! Wild how one move can totally change the whole situation.

    In my opinion - btw awesome video - players understand chess properly at a level of about 1500. That's when you stop being a total noob at chess. And my point is supported by 1200 making such knight move mistakes. They just dont understand that the knight can move there which means they dont understand the game fully. Dont overrate 1200. It's a very noob level. 1500 is about where noob ends and average/normal player begins. Some RUclipsrs say it's a big achievement to get there but no, that's where playing actual chess begins.

I spent 30 minutes to see this video and after 2 minutes I started to play a game. in the opening London system the pawn threatened my dark bishop at the fifth move and I decided to develop my white bishop. so..... to quit or not to quit.... 😂😂😂😂😂

    I don't fully agree with you on openings. Keep in mind your data is based on a chess engine stronger than any human in the world. Stockfish is saying "I could play that opening that way and be OK". As Magnus and the banned opening shows us, you can absolutely mess around in the opening and still be fine if you are a strong master. It doesn't mean a weaker player could play that opening and be OK. In other words, stockfish might not call it a blunder or mistake, but it's creating critical lines or ideas in the middle game that a lower rated player absolutely will screw up.
