Been crying for a solid 20 mins now. Listened to his music since i was 9 years old...Never have felt so much emotion over a lost musician in my life before.
I cried the other day listening to “be yourself” because I'm having a bad time in my life and now this news comes out, I can not believe it. It makes me feel sad and empty. Rest in Peace Chris
"Hang my head, drown my fear.....'til you all just disappear....." Suicide sucks. I lost a brother to it. The mind is a wild and crazy place. RIP, Chris. Huge thoughts and prayers to your wife, children, parents, friends, fans, etc. Us Seattleites will love you forever. I hope you are finally free of your demons.
I got the chills when he looked up and practically looked right into the camera. God bless him. What a talented, beautiful soul. I'm so bummed right now. I hope he is in a happier place now.
We are all made up of frequencies and vibrations and of course water... Chris knew this , this man's vibrations were truly angelic, he is the first musician to reach my soul
this man was the greatest singer/songwriter I ever had the privilege of seeing in concert all acoustics he was absolutely amazing Chris SAY HELLO TO HEAVEN FOR us all R.I.P we truly lost one of the greats today
One of those artists that nobody seemed to outright appreciate until after they were gone. Sadly...I am one of them...and I don't think i'll ever get over Chris"s vocals. The pitch, range, quality...and my GOD, live performance!!!!! One of the best, and he came and went...but I hope that everyone knows who this man was and is, because he sure as hell will never fade away... RIP Chris Cornell
Those 3 were some of the biggest influence's for me to become a musician. This one hurt, a lot. Would've never thought Chris would go so suddenly. Felt like he'd still be kicking ass in his 80's lol.
This one still hits worse for me as it came out of no where. Both Layne and Scott sadly had ongoing demons, but Chris had seemingly been clean for years! Still wicked sad. Alice In Chains and Soundgarden are two of my favorite bands and STP as well.
Thank you Chris, thank you Soundgarden. This version is a summary of everything. Thank you, for who I am today, thank you for all the years. From 4.10 I cry ....... Thank You.
Feeling very Outshined at the moment. Soundgarden is where it all started for Grunge. And Detroit is where the greatest musical voice of our beloved 90s fell silent on this earth (but of course not silent, because their music is epic). Long live freedom, peace, and happiness. And be vocally angry when these things don't happen. That's what it still says to me, but you have to play it loud so that everyone can hear.
I was privileged to be at the " R n R 2017 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony "( esp for Pearl Jam ) . It was so nice that Eddie ( or another Pearl Jam member ),had thanked Chris Cornell during their speech . And then last week , the movie " SINGLES " was just on . ( Haven't watched that in like 20 years ) . What is strange is that Chris had become a topic of many discussions this last month . So many memories of that decade ( some lost ) . God Bless you Chris !! Thank you for everything ! You can now jam with Kurt and Scott etc. , etc.
If was a suicide, I asking myself repeatedly, what was in his head here, what he was thinking when played this gig... I would everything give to ease his pain, what a terrble loss. But your music lives on!
I am a teenager and I just started listening to Soundgarden almost 2 years ago. I was planning on catching them live months ago but never really committed into coming due to school reasons. it kills me inside that I will never see Chris Cornell live.
So sad you passed, Chris, if you really made this decision, you thought it was your time, thank you for all these years, all these songs, I have been heard you daily for the past 13 years, since I heard Black Hole Sun for the very first time, and I’ll keep doing, because you still are one of my heroes.
i'm sitting here watching this in total disbelief...not quite sure how to process whats happened..it seems like all of my peers, and people i grew up listening to and watching in film, and television are checking out one by one...this was my all time fav sound garden song..rip, man
RIP Chris. Condolences to his family and friends, including the other guys in the band. I can't imagine how they're feeling today. I wish you had reached out for help, Chris. I hope you have now found peace for eternity. Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following paths God made for me I took his hand, I heard him call Then turned, and bid farewell to all I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to sing, to play Tasks left undone must stay that way I found my peace … at close of play And if my parting left a void Then fill it with remembered joy A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened… deep with sorrow I wish you sunshine of tomorrow My life’s been full I’ve savoured much Good friends, good times A loved one’s touch Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee God wanted me now He set me free.
He sounds fantastic here! Thank you for all the great music Chris. Your voice has given me company during my darkest times! Someday i hope i can see you live in heaven along with cobain, staley and weiland
Man, Super Bummed. This is a prime example that no matter how it looks from the outside, a person may seem to have everything they dreamed of or has no shortage of loved ones to talk to, but there are still things we may not know, things that are tearing that person apart from the inside. All it may take is making that point to just say 'I'm not OK' and having that talk even though it can be unbelievably difficult to put it into words. We may never truly understand why a loved one felt this was the only way out of their pain and suffering but we must all take a moment, especially when it comes to our friends or any loved ones to really put to rest any doubts about mental well being and quality of life. Truly saddening news.
Man.. watching these performances from lastnight, I have to agree with other people.. He seems to have relapsed and probably couldn't deal with the depression generated by knowing he was powerless to addiction. Addiction and depression are often a deadly combo. Nobody is immune to it. I know it's speculation, but, the writing is on the wall in these performances. So fucking sad for his family.
1:54 he's looking up and saying "won't you come"....man im looking deep into things that don't need to be analyzed, but shit......this guy and this band got me into music and got me out of a deep depression.sleep well mr.cornell
I love how now everyone is trying too hard to notice something wrong on him. "He's off". "He looks tired". "He looks sad". And all that kind of bullshit. This was a regular show, he looks just fine.
Shane Joseph Yeah, but I mean his stance, it's the same as always. Now we gonna get thousands of ppl who didnt see anything about him in last 10 fucking years and yes, in that case in this video you could see him drunk/stoned/sad or whatever you wanna see, but he was always like that.
Solo Por Que Me Piden Google Mas A lot of people show the telltale signs of depression, it just takes suicide to make those signs obvious. It's hindsight, what we perceived as normal behavior was actually someone pretending everything was okay. Obviously we don't have the details yet, so we're just guessing at this point.
woke up this morning drinking a coffe and my sister announcing me "Chris Cornell is dead"...in a few seconds half of my life running in my mind ...I've remembered the day that I came back from school hearing from tv about Kurt's death and all the times, years years ago, I use to lay on the pavement listening supeunknown with my little dog sleeping on my stomach...today walking in the beach I thought about Chris and his music under the sun
This really feels like history repeating itself again. Like 1994 all over again. I wasn't born then but I gather everyone was bummed like I am now. Like... what what why how
'Now it seems like too much love, Is never enough, Say hello to Kurt, Layne, and Scott for us; You better seek out Another road, cause this one has Thank you for the memories, we miss you guys. Ended abrupt… Say hello to Heaven' R.I.P. Chris Cornell 1964 - 2017
I have noticed with all of the new Soundgarden performances that Chris is always singing slow, like just behind the beat. I just figured it was a vocal technique to try and hit notes that he used to wail in his 20's, but had a hard time with in his 50's, but who knows. I'm sure not many knew what he was dealing with, but another little slice of my childhood died with this great artist. RIP Layne, Chris, Kurt, and Scott.
The final live performance of a classic...wow...
so sad
THIS comment broke me. I'm in tears now.
Almost cried since I know that it's his last time singing this incredible songs
Rest in Peace you fucking legend. Your voice and lyrics combined created music more beautiful than most artists can dream of.
Four out of the five greatest grunge vocalists have now passed away.
*RIP Kurt, Layne, Scott & Chris.*
Thanks for sharing this Uncle Sam. You had no idea that you were capturing the final curtain call of musical Legend.
Zanzidog40
and at about the 2:00 mark when Chris looked right up at him, truly a beautiful if not eerie curtain call.
Epic Dyslexic I just read this right when that happened
Been crying for a solid 20 mins now. Listened to his music since i was 9 years old...Never have felt so much emotion over a lost musician in my life before.
_One of the greatest vocalists of all time._
*RIP Chris Cornell.*
The literal last time he plays this song, this is insane man...
I still can't believe this. I can't believe he's gone or that this was his last show. He was too young, still, too talented, and so loved.
one of the first songs that got me into music. I was amazed with the video and song when I was a kid. I love you chris rip rock in heaven buddy
Same here. Soundgarden put me on the path to being the rocker I am today.
Saddest day in 2017 so far. Rest in a better place, greatest voice ever, Chris Cornell!
I cried the other day listening to “be yourself” because I'm having a bad time in my life and now this news comes out, I can not believe it. It makes me feel sad and empty. Rest in Peace Chris

It's not confirmed he committed suicide.

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following paths God made for me
I took his hand, I heard him call
Then turned, and bid farewell to all
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to sing, to play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found my peace … at close of play
And if my parting left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened… deep with sorrow
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full I’ve savoured much
Good friends, good times
A loved one’s touch
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now
He set me free.

Its just like how nobody thought Kurt Cobain was depressed until he killed himself. Then all of a sudden he was always suicidal.
