- From the VHS cover:
Among the senior citizens of quiet Kingsmarkham, these apple-faced kindly country folk, the world of passion and desires is not yet dim. Did septuagenarians Mr. and Mrs. Betts murder their unbearable old mother Ivy Wrangton, to inherit her house? Gossip among the Castle Road post office ladies says that when Mrs. Wrangton 'died' there would be no inquest; yet Elsie Parrish, Mrs. Wrangton's best friend, who also got a little something in her will, won't hear of any foul play.
The Case at first seems as innocuous as the suicide of childless Ann Waterton, an old lady befriended by lonely mixed-up teenager, Sophie Grant.
What can be the dark side of this sweet story? Развлечения
This series can be watched again and again - for the pure pleasure of the convoluted plot and the superb acting
Love hearing the blackbirds in the outdoors scenes❤
Thank you. No guns subtle violence and just a lot of good storytelling.
Good acting by brilliant actors, with intelligent scripts. Far better than the stuff forced upon viewers these days.
Diana Peek Forced is the word. Bombarded is another word for it.
Diana Peek, mckavitt: No one is forcing you to watch anything. If you are being bombarded you are merely a “victim” of your own viewing choices.
@@inkyguy: Rude man! If you cannot say anything nice, don't say anything at all! Ever hear that? Some of us look for something to take our minds off problems and worries. I read extensively, and use videos for another diversion.
I’ve stopped watching tv for some time now because of the PC nonsense.
I watch films and tv shows on RUclips, especially those from yesteryear.
I also like that time is taken to tell a good story. It's the scenic route not the express train. You have time to absorb the plot.
What a lot of wonderful old actors got a job in this episode!
I was the Non talking Ambulanceman I was a real Ambulance person I now own my own Ambulance Company
Wow! Did you do other shows? You have the look.
That is so interesting, a good detail, congrats on your success 👏🏻👏🏻☘️
Oh wow! I’m definitely telling people I met a famous person today 😊
That is so cool!
Good for you!!!
That slice of ordinary life with it's troubles and all the age groups and modest incomes. The strong structure of a troubled teenager who is actually a good student and responsible - we don't see enough of those, or their concerns are trivialised and reduced to problems between peers. Most teenager troubles are actually to do with the adults around them. Great viewing.
I was admiring the job the crew did with that character! The casting was great, she’s a great actor in the role. They also dressed her perfectly for what kind of person she was supposed to be. But seriously the people who dressed the set of her room were PERFECT. I totally knew that teenager from seeing her room; it told the whole story of who she was & what she cared about. The craft on display in the series is such a treat & they know how to serve the story & characters.
Yes, sadly teens are often troubled by divorced/separated parent/s who; while not willing to work towards reconciliation, are instead taking on new partner/s.
You’re right. This is why the Brit mysteries l watch and read strike me as so authentic. The characters feel like real neighbors, acquaintances, friends. US t-v doesn’t convey what’s real to me.
Pray for our youth
Well said! I appreciated the nuance of the teen girl.
Am massive Ruth Rendall fan. Devastated when she died as knew the stories from best crime writer ever were no more. Loved her books under Barbara Vine too. Superb writer.
Hi Gillian, I haven't read the Barbara Vine I will look into them. You may have seen this interview with Ruth Rendell but if you haven't I thought you might enjoy 🙂

@@paulgoddard Thanks so much Paul! Great work.
Thank you for posting this womderful series. The acting, the plots, the sets, everything about these is marvelous. Very enjoyable!
Hello Evelyn Hester. How are you doing?
Thank you so much for uploading these. I loved the original Rendell whodunits, and I love these TV adaptations too. George Baker made a perfect Wexford!
Just love all the beautiful curtains and tea sets one sees in this series.
Meh..
Wexford was my favourite tv programme in the nineties, I'm very glad and happy that you've put these up Paul.
Thank you so much. We're on our 5th episode now, 'An Unwanted Woman.'
I miss the nineties so much and the better quality television we had then, among other things.
They're as good as I remembered them to be.
I’m not it’s the 5th episode. Paul sent me a link so I have the series and episodes order. It was driving me mad when I started watching Burden’s kids as teenagers and then little kids!
@@joh-b1277 The really amazing thing is that the same two actors play Mike's kids, Pat and John, throughout the entire series. And they seem to start pretty young and grow older naturally, without losing credibility.
I do as well.
You
Great show and terrific actors
I'm addicted to this program. Great actors and great plots.
Thanks so much Paul. Think you've really contributed to alleviating lockdown blues for more people than you can imagine. Much appreciated, love from Rep. Of Ireland xx
For those interested, the magnificent Castle is Portchester near Portsmouth.
I always read the comments - some of them - before watching the vid. Saw your comment and found it interesting. Looking forward to watching the program, particularly Portchester Castle. I and some friends from Gosport went inside the castle. Even the bare rooms evoked the wonderful sense of history associated with that incredible edifice. I also kicked the football around with my Gosport friends right beside the ancient castle wall. His two seven and eight year old sons ran circles around me. Good times, those.
I watch these wonderful mysteries for the scenery, as much as the plot. English murder mysteries are always so well done.
@@robinmead5826 There was a wonderful series on the History channel named appropriately," Great British Castles " well worth watching.
james webb Is that pronounced Poorster ?
james webb, I am. Thank you. I ALWAYS appreciate background and production information like that. If it isn’t there yet, you should consider contributing this fact to the episode’s IMDb entry.
Oh boy, trip down memory lane wgen this series was aired on tv. Thanks sharing and bringing this back to life.
Taking me back in time to lovely watchable british drama!! Thank you so much!!
You're welcome 🙂
Thank you for your time spent uploading this great series. So enjoyable.
These scripts are very well thought out.
I agree Keith 🙂
Of course, she showed up there, bag in hand...where else was she going to go😂 What a gem of a show to stumble onto!
Am having a lazy Labor Day and found this great episode of Wexford! Thank you. Excellent quality.
Hello Patty Glenn. How are you doing?
That was great viewing. I greatly appreciate your generosity in spoiling us with all this good stuff.
Thank you Asha, I'm currently doing all I can to bring you more. It's getting harder to find them but I know there's many more wonderful stories out there to show you all.🙂
I love inspectors' series, watched lots of the English ones, the best, and watch Inspector Magritte, fabulous, the original young Inspector Montalbano from Sicily and now Inspector Wexford. You made my day, thank you!
Oh this is sooo cosy to look during this horrible Convidtime. Our house is locked up because of an maybe-infected neighbour we all like so much! God bless him - and thank you so much or sharing!
Lol...your mind is infected with nonsense. Stop watching the news~ Morrisey
@@bewarethelocusts6586 well said. Fear porn msm galore.

Well, this episode certainly had allot going on!
Very enjoyable! 👏👏👏

perfect chemistry between Wexford and Christopher Ravenscroft
Hello Julian Taylor. How are you doing?
I’ve just discovered these wonderful movies! I love them! Thanks so much.
What beautiful music 🎼 that the choir is singing. 🎼🎼🎼🎶🎶🎶🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much for introducing me to Inspector Wexford.
@Bob Paterson If you enjoyed this maybe you should check out the books by Ruth Rendell featuring Wexford. They are tremendously enjoyable.
I remember seeing the mother who set up the car suicide in an Inspector Alleyn mystery. Another good one Paul!
I remember her from the mini series Jewel in the Crown. Susan Wooldridge.
Love the Alleyn mysteries books. I found a version here on RUclips but the sound is ghastly and even with headphones you can hardly hear a thing they're saying
I can,t imagine lockdown without utube, makes life bearable. My nerves are cracking here in Canberra. 2 years of constant stress, not good for those who have heightened anxiety.
Hello Kris Best. How are you doing?
Hope your feeling better about things now...
Thank you, I too am happy there is no violence and the acting is Brilliant ❤
Lovely Sunday afternoon watch , thanks Paul

Hello Carol Madsen. How are you doing?
Perfect for a rainy dull afternoon thanks for the upload
Good, i am enjoying this series so much...thank you..well written
It was nice to see Mike solve one. Thanks for the upload Paul
I always like it in dramas when this sort of thing happens.
Another good upload thanks pal 😃
Love the serials, enjoying them. Chicago, USA
very good and surprising. great pacing, acting, personalities. very fine all around.
So glad i found ur channel it's fresh and new loving it keep up the good work thanks for taking time posting these for us to enjoy
I'm so grateful that so many people are enjoying the things I love too :)
Excellent drama! I really enjoyed this! Thanks for posting 👏👏👏👍😊
You are very welcome Chris :)
The studio must have an incredible collection of teapots and cups and saucers, everyone's always making tea!!
When a schoolboy , Saturday afternoon we would meet at a mates house , and his mothers first words were " cup of tea ". When ready to leave she would say, going already ,i've just put the kettle on. Wonderful women and great times.
alice hudson, welcome to England. Virtually anything can be solved or salved with a cop of tea.
@@inkyguy I seem to remember that Alice is from Scotland. But all this tea drinking is a bit irritating. The whole series is awash with tea and tea-drinking fanatics. I enjoy tea myself, but always Chinese (jasmine or Kwan Yin), always a nice pale straw colour, always drunk in a transparent tea glass, and never anything barbaric like putting milk in it.
Thank you for this series! Excellent!!
Oh, happy memories! I loved Wexford x
Me too :)
Diana Burke yep RIP both of them..........
Thank you for this Series!!!
Old George Baker was also terrific as Tiberius in 'I, Claudius'
I haven't seen him in that, it's something for me to look up now.
Gerald Berliner “Old George Baker” is terrific in everything he ever did. Even audio dramas.
"I, Claudius" one of the best UK productions ever made. George Bake with Derek Jacobi, Sian Phillips, Patrick Stewart, etc. 13 episodes about the Romans from Augustus to Claudius. Made in 1969.
Baker’s playing the slimy Tiberius and and upright but compassionate Wexford shows the wide range of parts he played and his talent. It was his voice that gave him away the first time I saw a Wexford episode.
@@monicacall7532 Hello. How are you doing?
New series to this American and am so happy you uploaded it. So well done.
Another American here. I discovered the Inspector Wexford mysteries many years ago. They are generally well made and outstanding police procedural dramas, always with a human touch. Enjoy.
Superb episode ❤
Very enjoyable 👍. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for uploading this.
I'm so pleased you like the uploads, more will come.
@@paulgoddard , so nice to hear from you! Have seen every Insp. Wexford video you have posted and eagerly look forward to more. I appreciate very much YOUR quality uploads. THANK YOU.
Luanna Pierce Adam dalgliesh
Few years ago in San Diego, California , w a d picked up by an ambulance team of a woman an 2 men. She introduced them all to me prior to the ride. They were unusually friendly. Like no one is normally. That was a memorable surprise. Doubt other ambulance persons are like that. Here, nowadays, clearly customer service is neither taught or part of the job with businesses.
I've never watched any others of this series, and I'm only 20 minutes into this one; however, it's a police procedural with an emphasis on interpersonal relationships, and a couple of Good Old Boys, British style. I would imagine people who are interested in relationship stories would find it most interesting (as opposed to, say those who look for a mystery to be solved).
You
@@lindasantoloce3173 Hello. How are you doing?
Always a delicious treat for those little grey cells!!
Another excellent mystery 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, I love the Ruth Rendell Mysteries, especially the Wexford's
A good movie 🍿 but under such a sad bunch of circumstances. 😢😢😢😢
Thanks I enjoyed this very much
PAUL !! THANK YOU ! X
You're welcome Maria
i remember when this first came out loved it so when it appeared again i started watching it again great stuff wonderful programme never gets old
Hello Andrea Burton. How are you doing?
I had not been aware till recently that Louie Ramsay, who plays Dora, was married to George Baker (Wexford) from 1995 - 2011.
Gracias por compartir tus películas 🎥 antiguas y policiales 😮😢y éxitos en todos vuestros proyectos y planes
The ending is a hoot!
Well at least I found it funny!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jolly good stuff, thank you!
I love these stories, and a real bonus with Dianne Keen. Bit of a crush.
Old song 🎶 Poor Butterfly 🦋. The song 🎶 that’s playing which they’re dancing 💃🏻 to. 🎶🎶🎶🦋🦋🦋💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Thanks for sharing! 😊
Looking back to a time long gone. What a great loss.
Thank you
I love how Reg dresses he’s always so smart
Yes he is :)
Not in the books!
That doctor with the dyed black hair gives me the creeps.
Oh my Dr Moss is one of the most handsome Brit guy I have ever laid my eyes on other than Beckham . Wish I had such an eye candy doctor to go to!!!! 😆😆😆😆😆😆
Busy little place that. Thanks for the upload.
A very young looking Vincent Regan plays a blinder playing Dr Moss, watch out for Elsie taking out a Ford Fiesta on a test drive and nearly wipping out Reg and Inspector Burden, hilarious it is,
This series has such good actors!
Great stories😊
Nothing like British tv 😍
Hello Marie Diana. How are you doing?
Another good one!
This one was hard to watch because the victim was so unsympathetic, she was a horrible old bully and the daughter showed alot of restraint not to have killed her years ago!
Excellent viewing
Another good one thanks.
Hello Carol King. How are you doing?
Just watched this again. Does anyone ever guess who did it ? Any good watching second time round. Thanks.
the daughter is supposed to be only 70 but the acress looks like 80 plus!!
I Love Wexford! Wish all cops were like him, LOL!!!!
The doctor was quite an eye candy eh ????? 😍
Michelle Suzanne Maitra, yes I noticed that too.
Love these Brit videos👍👍🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️✌️
The ending makes me look forward to the next episode.
Thank you 🤩🤩💖
Thank You.
I thought the teen girl might have been molested by step dad after the marriage. Disappointed that issue was never resolved.
EXCELLENT thanks made a change for Ravenscroft to solve a case
Having grown up watching George Baker n the big cinema screen, I think he was born to play Wexford , it fits him like a glove. Ravenscroft mat well have been a lovely man in real life, but I could not stomach him in this series, too smarmy by half.
Ha ha ha, love the ending. Great humor!
Hello Janet Thomas. How are you doing?
Obrigada🙏🙋♀️🇵🇹🍀🍒
Fantastic
love this wexford if you see more
Will do :)
Brilliant/Thankyou.
