I can’t tell you how hard it was for me to have a vision for a home when I was looking to buy hen it was cluttered and dirty. I forced myself to go in one that smelled when the realtor opened the door … I couldn’t get out fast enough.

Even when you live in beautiful designed & expensive home, but it is messy & dusty because you are going through a lot, plus mourning. Sometimes you just don't want to let anyone around, including the housekeeper. A beautiful home is not assurance of happiness.
Otherwise I always enjoy your personality and advice.👍

I know it's a tiny, insignificant thing but I really love to decant my liquid dishwashing, laundry and hand soaps into nice bottles. I also decant my cooking oils into bottles that take my eye. It might be the colour, the shape or even a texture. Even though they are hidden in a drawer next to the stove, it feels luxurious to pour olive oil from a fancy bottle.

My son's girlfriend has a 325 square foot apartment in which is painted, furnished and decorated in all white except for a few accent colors in each room. Living room curtain rods are black and all her art is framed in white except for one in black. The kitchen features a black tea pot on the stove, the bedroom has a 6 drawer black dresser and the bath has a black soap dispenser. However, the interior of the front door is painted a true red in high gloss. I think it looks like a chic NY micro-loft.

✨ One small touch I like to do, is put liquors in beautiful crystal decanters in an uncluttered bar area with a nice tray. Elegant lead crystal decanters need not be expensive, and can be found in Thrift Stores because they don't seem to know the difference in cheap glass or heavy an upscale crystal. You betcha I take advantage of that fact, LOL! Cheers! 🥃🍸🍷

I love my neutrals. White, cream, ivory, etc. but, I’ve also sort of been experimenting with colors recently. I’ve found that over time my style has changed and I have been wanting a more sophisticated and elegant looking space.
I really love the colors dusty pink/mauve with greens and then lately I’ve been liking that burnt orange/amber kind of color, which I’m struggling with finding the perfect shade that doesn’t look like a pumpkin orange. It has been a journey putting together a color palette!

Years ago my son moved into his first place and got some Ikea grey metal and glass tables. The coffee table kicked around here for years, sometimes on the porch. When I did my living room floor in a dark waxed terra cotta I had an idea- I sanded down that table, spray painted it in a dark brass metallic and it looks very chic with the clear glass top. It lightens the terracotta and it's unique and under $30 :)
Flowers are a must, even a couple of sprigs in the bathroom.
I've recently been furniture shopping for modern things as am buying a new townhouse in town (I am rural). Honestly I am so disgusted by the stuff that is available, I'm not sure what to do, short of buying from Europe. Why are all furniture legs now splayed out like they are broken?

For ambience in the evening, I use medium base dark amber flame light bulbs, 25 to 40 watts only. If you want dim lighting for atmosphere it will turn your living room into a Paris apartment. I've been doing this for years and it works. The flame bulbs cast dramatic shapes onto the ceiling and looks really cozy. Of course, you also need to have bright lights as well somewhere, so you don't have to change the bulbs every time you need extra light.

    HELLO ALBERT! I loves him.
We sort of did something with our ceiling. We painted it to match the trim and changed out the fixtures. I found an awesome modern retro glass and chrome light fixture to replace the boob lamp, and instead of the undersized and sad little fan (tulip shades and gold pasteboard blades) we put in our super manly ceiling fan of death. (It's huge and powerful and wood and steel.)

Interesting info about ceilings. My home was built in 1940 and the ceilings in the livingroom and dining room are very highly textured plaster. Not really my taste but I'm keeping them because it suits the house and the skill to plaster this way is almost lost. They could use a refresh on the paint but I'm still trying to decide on the white or off white color to use. So many whites!

We all need an ultra luxurious Albert in our lives! I always use wall paint on my ceilings. I noticed you can get "ceiling paint" for cheap in a big bucket, and that made me suspicious. I had to paint my vaulted ceilings this summer (not fun), so I went with the main wall color (Swiss coffee). I wanted to leave the wood beams alone, but that turned into a disaster. After a few mishaps with the roller, I just went ahead and painted the beams too. I does make a huge difference. The kitchen looked 100% better even before I got to the walls.

Those are burl wood. I love the red Australian burl wood. It is a tree tumor. So the grain is so unpredictable and somewhat chaotic. I hope I can build a table out of it some day.

I feel so validated now! 🥰 After agonizing over paint, I went for a Jotun Soft Skin on all walls and trimming, and white ceiling. It looks so good, got lots of positive feedback and now it's also LeChic approved!

I think crown molding details elevate the room, curtains hung higher above the window, a rich oil painting with a beautiful antique frame, crystal chandelier with a ceiling medallion and a nice, preferably wool, rug. I have a very small house but I like vibrant bathrooms with jewel tones. Liking things and pulling it off are two different things. I like gold details, but not over the top. I think having a mix of vintage/antique and new looks good as long as it compliments each other. I used to think I liked French decor but you really have to tap the brakes on too much of that. I'll settle for a hint of it. I have a French, leaning floor mirror with a gilded frame and an elaborate Chippendale mirror in the foyer. I don't like busy or too heavy but I am not a minimalist either. It's so hard with a little house. I want it to look good but not gaudy. I love your videos. My husband laughs at me because I am always glued to one them.

Great suggestion! I can tell you for sure get a degree in interior design or at least at a minimum work for a formally trained and experienced designer or decorator for a good while, so you are not an arm chair designer. There is so much more to this craft then sourcing and picking out pretty pieces or just repeating or suggesting what's trending that day on social media. Thanks for subscribing and supporting our channel. Much more to come!

Negative space is my biggest challenge. I've collected art and illustrations for more than forty decades. I know you talked about swapping out pieces when you addressed collecting last upload, but it's not easy with paintings and drawings since frames are all different sizes. I need to focus on this more. Thanks again for your insight.
