I know you say you're not concerned about privacy, but wouldn't a door add weather protection. Just thinking of rain blowing right into that opening and ruining something sitting there.

Yea I considered some sort of outdoor shade the drivers could pull down to help protect. Honestly I'm okay with the packages seeing a little indirect rain. The main reason for leaving it off was to be able to see if there was a package in there.

Dear Rogue Engineer, thank you and your family for building this ideal package delivery Dropbox. We live in North Idaho and we have a little sheep ranch. Our driveway is about 725 yards long and we have Norwegian Elk Hounds as our watchdogs and family pets. We have lived here for over 30 years but like you our delivery people, both USPS and UPS (and at time FedEx) have just dropped our packages off IN THE DRIVE WAY!!!!! No protection, No notice, No alert and of course no recourse but to complain…which has a reverse effect increasing the animosity between the “THEM VS US” mentality. So I can tell you that you simple build of this package Dropbox is wonderful. I am not an engineer (actually a critical care nurse…LOL) so building wasn’t my first or even chosen occupation. But living on farms all of my life we are always “McGivering’ everything. It looks like you posted this about 5 years ago but it is still perfect today. When I get done I would be happy to take a picture and send it…I am also going to build like a “Dutch door” for the front because I don’t want any excuse why the packages should be in perfect shape at the drop point. Well, wish me luck. Sincerely…Dropbox fan patrick

    Still holding up ?
How do you keep the wind from knocking it over ?

I’m guessing it probably fell over by now. 🤷🏻‍♂

I built this today and it's super heavy. No wind is blowing it over unless it's like a tornado

Hey man, do you know what a facebook page called "Canvas Arts" has taken your content, put their watermark on it, and posted on facebook with ads?

Awesome idea! Did this solve the problem? Do the delivery companies use it?

Shaun Guthrie it actually did! The drivers just pull right up now and drop them in the box without even getting out of the truck. I think they are pretty happy with it.

Hey, we built this today and good design. We made a few modifications to make it thief proof but thanks! Pdfs were super nice to follow. Took a minute to see how the RTC'S were supposed to be mounted on each corner. We have a heeler that hates delivery people too. Will be nice to not have to go to the post office for packages now.

dope. building this for my fire wood.

When I was building this I thought it would be great for firewood as well. Maybe add an extra vertical 2x4 in the middle of the sides so the firewood doesn't press on the siding directly.

“How do you know it’s a mail shelter?”
“You can tell by its balls!”
