And it's combat was ass, from a decent hack n slash game to a wannabe imitation Dark Souls without the variety of combat nor the inspired enemies. It managed to have shittier combat than the previous titles and less enemy variety. But because it's oh so "cinematic" like every other playstation exclusive it gets a pass, because apparently being a movie and ripping off better games is all it takes to be a good game according to western journalist.

The roots of the franchise are in the early 2000s when every mature action movie or game was pretty much like this. The point of the game is not surviving the bosses but fckin' owning them, that's what I enjoyed when I played DMC3:SE for the first time~
Players like asmon loves suffering on the game they played then shit talk about a game where you enjoy and style on the bosses~

Yeah in DMC 1 you had dante, who had trish with some moves, who fighted his father sparta. In Dmc 5 you have nero who can controll time, ride a rocked, has a flame sword, V who controlls Shadow and griffin from the first DMC with his own unique moveset and dante who can now ride a bike, has his 4 styles out of dmc 3, new guns. The graphics looks better, the story is now about dantes brother vergil trying to get his revange on dante in fight of honor, while V and nico are completly new and lady came made her first appearance in dmc 3. Also you have new bosses, enemies and new music. So the story is deeper and has more lore, more combos are available, the game feels better and smoother in general, V is a completely new character, new sworts and weapons, new areas like the blood palast to train, a need little online mod and the whole devil trigger system is new as well. Also the ending of the game is fantastic. It even toped the one from DMC 3 in my opinion. But hey its just the same edgy, pointless dogshit as every year, right? Mr. I-never-plaid-a-game-of-the-series-ever-but-I-need-to-say-edgy-shit-because-I-wanna-seem-smart.

I’m new to the DMC series and I’ve played through all the games, so I may not have a good of a view or standing point of the series, while DMC5 may be cheesy and edgy, that’s kinda the point, when they made DMC5 and brought it back after 10 years they wanted people to feel nostalgic from it, not hate it because of what it is, plus DMC was going through a rough time after the failed reboot, overall, the gameplay and story are enjoyable, and the edginess plus the goofiness make Devil May Cry different from any other hack and slash game.
And it has a really unique combat system instead of yknow, every souls game ever made that they all love. (Roll swing roll swing for 20 mins) you literally do better depending on your style, and if you play as the character would in lore, it’s great
