AMAZING!! Jan, you are a great teacher. First time listening to your You-Tube videos….I am so glad I found you. The best part, you shared your thought process, explained what could go wrong and how to make it right. Teaching from beginning to end, and making sure we could understand both the screen and the projector side of things and that we could see your work. Thank You!! Now I am ready to try my own borders with confidence!!
Jan, THANK YOU thank you THANK YOU... I have been hunting all over the internet and RUclips to find someone that would teach me to do just this on my new Babylock Vision. I'm just starting to sew again and I purchased a new machine to make me learn new things. So I started my very first quilt and got this far. You're a blessing! I'm needing to learn how to do things on this new VISION! You are the best! Please keep sharing and showing us how to use this wonderful machine!
Jan, I have just found your channel and what a great teacher you are. I’ve just upgraded to a larger machine and really looking forward to following along with you. I’m from Scotland and hopefully can watch your live videos too. Once I find the time difference here. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It’s so much appreciated.
I just bought a Luminaire about 2 months ago, I've watched quite a few of Jan's classes/videos. Amazing teacher! I have learned SO many things and just think she's awesome 😄 side note....I no longer clip my corners thanks to your grandma! Happy sewing ❤
Excellent video. I recently purchased the Vision, and due to health issues I have not been able to get to my dealer for all the classes I want to attend. So great you are doing these videos.
Jan - just found you on RUclips…. explained well and video was great. I have the XP1 (with upgrades) and just recently received the 3rd upgrade. I needed to refresh border options and this was extremely helpful. I hope you do more teaching videos in the near future.
Thank you for all the time you take to make the videos. I have learned alot. Can you do this border technique the same way on the PR1055X? My sewing machine is a Dream machine which I absolutely love. Thanks again!
Hello Stephanie! Yes, the border function is also in the PR1055X and I hope to do a video using it soon. It is very similar to the Luminaire video I did, but you will be using the live camera instead of the projection camera to line up the hoopings.
Could you leave a link to your old hoop there you are using for more narrow border hooping. Thank you for your excellent explanations and going over it twice at times!!
I really enjoyed your video. Question for you on what to use for the width of the border #3. You said you cut your border 2.5 so used 2" . I'm confused. Is the 2.5 before you sewed it onto your center? If my border measures 3" after it is sewn on to the center, would I use 2.5?
Hi Karen! You want to use the Finished Border size, so if the unsewn border is 2.5", the finished border is 2". Remember to subtract 1/2" as you will be sewing 2-1/4" seams off your border
Hi Jan, I am in the market to purchase a machine. Need to get started Quilting. Have a large stache of fabric. Is the Solaris what you would recommend purchasing??
Great live tutorial on border feature, thank you!
I just love using the border function!

How could I do a border when the edges are 5 x 5 / 2 sided zig zag?
Not sure I understand the question. Could you be more specific?

Glad you enjoyed the video Shirley! The Baby Lock Solaris and Brother Luminaire are incredible machines with lots of great features for quilting
I would love a narrow long hoop for borders! Where can I find one?🙏
I use an old one that is 4x12 that Brother has. I can still get them as far as I know.
@@sewalongwithjan thank you! I’m waiting for my dealer to respond. Appreciate your reply!❤️
Camera falls downward so it was hard to see. But as I follow along on xp3 I can see the pattern
So sorry about the camera! I was having a technical issue that day. I've got it fixed now.
