Motocross Action tests the 2021 KTM 450XCF offroad bike. What did we really think? The 450XCF is a blast to ride, and it works well on tracks or trails. The updates made to the 2021 KTM 450XCF aren’t noticeable at first glance, but once you hit the dirt, you’ll fall in love with the updated suspension. If you’re trying to choose between a 2020 and 2021 KTM 450XCF, go for the 2021 version with the all-new forks. If you’re deciding between a 450XCF and a 450SXF, think about where you’ll be riding it most. If you’re riding trails more than half the time, we recommend the 450XCF. The only major complaint we have is its lack of a 6-speed transmission.

The push button gas cap is great. It is only a quarter turn to take off when making a pit stop.
I agree! These reviews always hate it, but they never say why. I've had mine for 6 years and still waiting to figure out why I'm not supposed to like it. I've got an older model KTM that threads on, but I like the push button way better! The conventional cap sticks, tightens up, twists the vent tube, and even leaks sometimes. When the push button clicks, it's on. No torquing it down and no leaking...ever.
When are we going to get a 450 off-road shootout for 2022 models

I LOVED the 2021 Kawasaki KX450X video where Josh Mosiman was racing WORCS! Let's see him on a Yamaha YZ450FX for a GNCC race, and on a Honda CRF450RX for a GP race!!?? Just make it into an offroad racing video series for MXA, pleassseee??? 😄

Tm four strokes have fuel under the seat similar to Yamaha and the oem mx tanks on two stroke Tm models are 2.5 gallons.
i see the SXF has more HP than the XCF. and if so how does it make that HP is it just ECU/timing settings or are there other engine mods

The hand guards mounted to the brake and clutch perches sounds really trick, but I can't help but wonder how much more expensive this would be over time. Breaking a clutch or brake perch can put a rider out of a race and out of some money. Doesn't sound like a great idea but I've never seen in person.
The guards bend and flex they aren't mounted fixed.
I bet they already declared the KTM the shootout winner. Been a subscriber of MXA since.1986. Darrell Ecklund and this crew have single handed destroyed my once favorite magazine. They don’t even cover the races anymore. The newest issue doesn’t cover the start of national season. Instead they covered…..wait for it….flying an f16

Hello. Thank you for the feedback. Sorry you feel that way. We don’t cover the races as much in the magazine as we cover it live on the website each and every weekend. By the time the magazine lands it is three months after the race. It is great to hear others point of view about the changes we make. Thanks for reading.
