Ok I know it’s a little odd to not be OTB with both players in the same room but I genuinely love this setup. It’s looks so much more modern and allows the viewers a better glimpse at the players, while also (presumably) making the board display process easier for streaming and commentary

Really I couldn’t even tell you, only the super GM’s can really make the predictions, not me, not the analyzers, and even then it’s up in the air. I’m betting on Magnus still since the statistics and my intuition point to him. From what intimations I could make as just an audience member judging his character, he takes loss very seriously and is very conscientious regarding chess. But really only the top 15 have the most accurate idea themselves.

Easier for viewers and commentators to follow and analyze the game. I believe this setup (camerawork, background, lighting) can help enormously to popularize the game. Very satisfied with this production as a viewer. My suggestion is to enlarge the evaluation bar (make it black and white) and the players' clocks and put them below or above the respective player. You could also ask them to dress according to the side they are playing, unlike this game.

It only shows its evaluation about 5 seconds after every movie and almost always overexaggerates the advantage a player has compared to more sophisticated engines. Also I reckon the time and evaluation should stay where it is but the board and the player cameras should be swapped.
Because this is the online chess tour, so all systems built from the beginning for players to play by themselves online. The reason they are playing face to face is because this is the final of the whole tour.
Legendary from Mugsy(Magnes)...the playing style is nearly unmatched. Magnes studies these "novelties", but positions non the less where his opponent is seemingly winning and he has calculated the opponents best responses to his moves. Truly remarkable!
To be fair, this win isn't really representative of Carlsen's overall playing style. Carlsen tends to be more positional, grinding opponents down in endgames. He's much more like Karpov than Kasparov (otherwise than this single game could indicate; it's rapid chess though)

According to the engine, taking the pawn (10...Qxc3+) was an inaccuracy, but far from losing. The main mistakes were the so very natural looking: 13...Nf6, adding a defender to the king side, and the nail in the coffin: 15...Kh8, getting the King out of the way of white's Rook on g3. Go figure. Brilliant demonstration by Carlsen, showing that Morphy-like attacks can still work in the modern era, even at the highest level, at least in rapid games.

In another Magnus stream, his opponent conceded but Magnus didn't know yet because he was just playing for the strongest moves. In less than 1 sec he saw he had mate in 6 and his opponent saw that even faster. At their level, drawing arrows would be a waste of time.

Great strategy, black queen eats pawn and attacks rook on b2, black bishop moves to b4. Jan couldn't do nothing, because he couldn't use rook or bishop to defend rook on b2, and black queen will eat rook on b2, which causes checkmate. White bishop is paralized, he can't move because of king, great prediction and fantastic play from Carlsen.
Just a guess, but after Qf3 the queen has access to the g4 square if black moved the knight to g1 to defend the h3 pawn. Also it brings the queen nearer to the king providing more attacking options. I guess white can get away with playing 2 moves to create a threat instead of one because Black's pieces are not coordinated well and can't defend the king in time.
Qc1 gives black knight g8 and then white doesn't have anything. if ng8 is played after qf3, white can take f7 pawn with queen threatening qh7 mate, if rook takes queen, knight f7 is mate. It was dead lost after king h8. The winning move was bishop g5.

Why in Queen's Gambit on Netflix are the cameras more on the faces, than on the board during games? Because we are enthralled by the players, rooting for them, cheering for them, idolizing them. Most people following these games, have no ability whatsoever to understand the chess moves without the aid of live commentators like David Howell. You can still see the board perfectly well, but having the focus on the players faces, you can connect what is being broadcasted from the broadcasters, with minor changes in the demeanor of the players themselves. They are not quite motionless. They show distinct emotion according to the game situation. :) Shortly summarized: to add face value to the game.
