    I had a severe concussion 1.6 months ago and have been diagnosed with vestibular migraines along with simply chronic migraines. my ears ring loud 24 seven as if I’ve just gotten out of a concert. It keeps me up at night along with many other awful symptoms. Sometimes I wanna give in to,medication when I’m crying from pain, vomiting, can’t see. But then there are times when I discover videos like these were reminded that everything will be okay. you have honestly helped me with the ringing of my ears so I can sleep. Thank you for what you do for us.

      I had migraines for most of my adult life, and several years ago I was diagnosed with vestibular migraines for which I take medication that helps. I developed tinnitus in Dec 2022. I knew almost nothing about it so I felt really helpless for a few months. I was seen by an Audiologist for an hearing test, and an ENT, who only confirmed my tinnitus but said there was nothing he could do help, and that eventually I would get used to it😢. Then I stumbled across Dr. Ben’s channel and realized that sound could help. Watching Dr. Ben’s channel I learned that he had an audiology practice dedicated to helping people with tinnitus. By then I had read enough to know there was no real “cure” by way of medicine, so I thought maybe this guy is a scammer. Anyway, since the initial consultation was free a gave it a shot. I ended up being patient of his practice (he wasn’t my Audiologist), and a little over a year later I can honestly say what I learned has helped me tremendously.
      There is no quick fix or one size fits all, and some people are able to make tremendous improvements without professional help. I didn’t think I would be one of those people. For me, one of the things that really helps is sound therapy. It has helped me learn how to tone down or ignore the noise, and it helps to just totally mask it on days when it’s just really loud, but most of all I can find peace at night so that I can sleep.
      I’m telling you my story to give you a message of hope, and to let you know you’re not alone. Though some days may be tough, as you said, everything will be okay. Blessings to you on your journey in managing your tinnitus.

    I just wanted to give a message of hope. My tinnitus started a year ago after months of sleep deprivation, work and mental stress.
    At first I thought it's just a morning thing, then I realized I just don't hear it during the day when there are other noises around. Then it got louder and louder and I cloud hear it during the day and couldn't sleep because of it. In the morning just after waking up it was a whole terrifying symphony, many different loud noises in both ears. During the day I heard a high pitched buzzing around 12khz even outside, it felt like something is drilling my head. Btw I tested my hearing it was normal.
    The noise was significantly louder in one ear and I couldn't fall asleep in my usual sleep position with ear on the pillow. It was worse when I'm tired or hungry or didn't sleep enough.
    The only thing that temporarily helped was warm shower. I can't tell for sure if it was just masking or there is also physical effect, but it lasted for few hours after.
    Sometimes I woke up in the middle of the night and it was nearly quiet and then I started to move my body and the noises immediately went back. Again can't tell if it's a physical effect (blood pressure or something) or mental (going out of sleep state). But I felt like there's a hope it can go away.
    The only consistent thing that made the noises worse was lack of sleep. So I started going to bed earlier and getting enough sleep every day. For a month I worked from home to avoid exhausting commute to work every day.
    After half a year it just gradually improved by itself I guess (mostly thanks to more sleep and resting). The noises didn't go way completely but they are significantly quieter now, even at night or in the morning. No "symphony" in the mornings, no problem with falling asleep without noise masking even with ear against the pillow.
    Partially I have adapted mentally and just don't pay attention anymore, but I'm also 100% positive it's not just adapting, the noises are actually much quieter, even when I don't get enough sleep again, it's not nearly as bad as it was.
    One day loud noises came back temporarily. I went to a loud concert and spent many hours on my feet, also I didn't eat much that day. I came home late at night exhausted and the noises where really loud again, I got scared. I think it was both loud music plus exhaustion and hunger that caused it. Luckily the next day everything went back normal again (some noise but quiet as usual).
    In conclusion what I did: get a lot of sleep and rest. Avoid loud music. Give up caffeine (I used to drink tea before going to bed).
    Use melatonin when have troubles falling asleep. Learn to sleep on your back if necessary (it's not that hard). Warm shower every night before bed. Don't focus on it. Good luck.

      Hello! what is the reason you got tinnitus? Loud music? anxiety? any other condition; Unfortunately, I am one of those who look for it and focus on it. I have had it for 9 months and most likely I got it from my job all these years. Im musician. I also suffer from chronic stress and anxiety for many years. Perhaps this also played its part in the tinnitus. I have it in my left ear. I constantly hear an "eeeee" like fundamental frequency around 4khz. One more frequency that changes during the day in intensity, about 8khz and one at 10-12khz that swirls around in my head and constantly fluctuates and sometimes disappears completely. I had really bad days with negative thoughts and images in my mind about my life! I think that after 1-1.5 years I will get used to it and it will stop affecting me psychologically. I'm thinking I'll have to give up my job as a musician altogether. What advice would you give me? Thank you very much!

    • @ekklesiast
      @ekklesiast Месяц назад +4

      @@chrisk6488 It's hard to tell for sure, probably several factors played a role, but yes I had severe anxiety as well, but I believe mostly my tinnitus was caused by sleep deprivation.
      Loud music definitely doesn't help either. I attended another extremely loud concert several months before tinnitus started, don't know if it's connected but it was so loud I had a feeling I damaged my ears that day. Probably it has contributed to tinnitus latter. Many musicians have tinnitus. I love music, now I'm trying to not listen it in headphones at high volume.
      My point was that tinnitus can get better to the point when it doesn't bother you. Just try to identify what makes it worse and avoid it actively.

    • @jdryyz
      @jdryyz Месяц назад +1

      @@treblehealth I also have Hyperacusis ...with tinnitus. My tinnitus increases with exposure to sound. It is at is lowest volume during sleep since this is also the quietest time. While pink noise and others start off as a distraction from the low amount of tinnitus I hear during the night, it ends up increasing the problem instead alleviating it. Because I was exposed to noise instead of the usual silence, I end up starting my day with more tinnitus than I normally would. My conclusion is that sound therapy may not be the best approach for me. But, is it a possibility that things may need to "get worse before they get better"? My fear is that anything that increases the tinnitus is working against me instead of for me.

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  Месяц назад +1

      Hello. Various devices, such as earphones, speakers, surround sound systems, and hearing aids, can be utilized to deliver the sound. It's essential to adjust the volume to a level where the tinnitus remains audible. The objective of sound therapy isn't to mask the tinnitus but rather to play it at a lower volume, enabling the brain to contrast it with the tinnitus itself, aiding in habituation.

  • @carmenzajimenez5773

      Sound therapy is not a one size fits all. If you are having a negative reaction to this sound therapy, we encourage to find a different sound. Be sure that you are using it at a level below the volume of your tinnitus.
