Backtracking isn't that bad in any of the first four X games. But each of them can be completed 100% with only one revisit. Hell, you can get everything in X2 without any backtracking if you use the slope glitch, and Zero doesn't need to backtrack in X4 either.
However, X5 requires five or six revisits.

If this does continue into X2 (my favorite) I'd make sure you include most of the neat little tricks you can do to nab powerups. Obvious ones include how to get the arm parts without the leg upgrade using strike chain, and how to grab the sub tank in bubble crab with that nifty little slope jump trick. Some more advanced stuff I'd like to see at least mentioned (if not demonstrated because they can be tricky) would be getting the arm parts without ANY weapons or powerups, or how to get the heart tank in morph moth without crystal snail's weapon (requires you to have the arm and leg parts and do a neon jump).
I realize those are trickier ones that are hard to do, but I feel that at least bare mentioning as I would have liked to have seen tricks like ice-less (getting the heart tank from boomer without his weapon OR ice) mentioned in this video.

This is totally useful and should continue to at least X4.
Also, for completion's sake: the mini-boss in Sting Chameleon's stage is vulnerable to Boomerang Cutter.
That said, I agree that Storm Tornado is the better choice. It may only do two damage per hit (the mini-boss has a total of 64 HP, btw!) but it's more efficient than firing off Boomerang Cutters (or charging it).

Oh, I do. Since I don’t plan on making that video anytime soon, I’ll give it to you now. Start at Tunnel Rhino’s Stage and get the Sub tank, then go to Buffalo’s stage and use Tornado Fang to get the heart tank, get the foot parts, and use those to get the sub tank. Then go to Blast Hornet, get the ride armor, and the heart tank, beat the stage, go to Neon Tiger, get the sub tank, the arm parts, and the heart tank. Go to Toxic Seahorse, get the heart tank, get the ride armor with a charged frost shield, go to Gravity Beetle, get the heart tank and ride armor, go to Volt Catfish, get the heart tank, body parts and sub tank, backtrack to tunnel rhino and get the heart tank and head parts. Go to Crush Crawfish and get the ride armor and the last heart tank. Bam, done. And The Gold armor will be waiting for you in Doppler 1.

I personally go with Flame Mammoth's stage as the first pick, as crazy as it might sound. That stage and boss are pretty straightforward and easy even without the leg upgrade. Also, you get the heart upgrades in Chill Penguin's and Flame Mammoth's stages, respectively, almost immediately after. That and also, I prefer playing through the stages in their original states, that being Flame Mammoth's stage is drastically easier after you defeat Chill Penguin. Other than that, I go with the usual weakness order since the amount of backtracking is pretty non-existent.

This order here is actually close to the order I tackle the Mavericks in. And, it's actually kinda funny to me how the first 4 Mavericks in your order (Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle, Flame Mammoth, and Boomer Kuwanger) are my top 4 favorite Mavericks in X1, and the remaining 4 in the order (Spark Mandrill, Armored Armadillo, Launch Octopus, and Sting Chameleon) are my bottom 4 favorites (but, not in those orders). And, actually, the weakness of Sting Chameleon's mid boss that guards the Armor upgrade for the first armor is the Boomerang Cutter. Because I played Mega Man Maverick Hunter X as my first ever Mega Man X game, I remember Storm Tornado shredding that mid boss, as well as the first mid boss of Launch Octopus's stage easily, but not the case for the original X1.

Nice video! Can you please also cover side effects from weapons on bosses? Like boomerang cutter on Flame Mammoth's nose. Or sonic slicer on Wire Sponge. Never saw a tentacless Octopus. It's a cutter's job too?

Do it for rest of the series to help every newcomer since I remember myself reaching a good guide for the collectables back then.
    ~Yes even for X6 I dare you!~

Boomerang Cutter's behavior is not random if you're in the air. If you're ascending in a jump, it flies up. If you're descending, it flies down.

When you get to X5,X6,X7,X8 will you base your videos off of normal or hard mode?

      Definitely normal for sure.

Did you know that the ass load of extra nightmare viruses in X6 Xtream mode lead to the player collecting way more nightmare souls? For the ultimate cheese strats, play as black zero on Xtreme mode. By the time you get to the Gate stages you should have at least 4 chip slots open (including the one in the middle that has the health recover chip). Then switch to Normal in the options before playing the Gate stages. Your chip slots will carry over since X5 and X6 don't have dedicated difficulty files. Now you no longer need to fight Dynamo 10 times to get a good chip set up.

I would slightly alter this order as far as "least back tracking". Sart with Flame Mammoth then Chill Penguin, allowing you to get the heart and toast penguin quick. Do Storm Eagle next getting all pick ups. Now back track to flame Mammoth to get the three pick ups....its technically quicker because it takes longer to back track through Chill Penguins stage to reach the heart...(plus its cool to get to see the before and after of Flames stage as a result ) cheers!

Huh, i never thought about doing Boomer Kuwanger right after Flame Mammoth, maybe because i'm too used to how that fight plays out with his weakness, nice find, i'm gonna try that the next time i play this gem.
But hey, my order was pretty close.

It's impossible to get the jumping one. I always hit the outer block and then fall down because of the poor design for busting the blocks. I clearly see you getting it, but I've tried dozens of times and can only break the one block. I'm not really sure what to do. Maybe because I'm playing the switch, the controls are not as good?

As a 7 year old the soundtrack is so amazing. Zero, Demo, Storm Eagle, Spark Mandrill, Boomer Kuwanger
