Check out The Negative Space! It’s about the same price and you can get a 5K scan over scanned but allows you to scale in more for vertical edits

IMPORTANT! don't buy an audio super 8, because they don't even produce the super 8 film anymore that let's you record audio! it's a metal strip in the film itself and that's not produced anymore.
record it with your phone simultaneously
edit: your footage is so so nice!

Your camera might be over exposing (or the telecine). I have films I shot 24 years ago on Kodak 200 and the contrast and chroma is stronger. Generally the whole result is crisper. So maybe do a test with fixing the aperture (EE lock) a stop or two lower. You will get more of that inky look. I know most telecine places will do a one light pass. If you want to get the best (if your camera is working as it should) get a scanner or decent projector and video camera. Great vibe in these films.

Canon 514 is a good one. Ive been using a Sankyo XL 60s for most of my footage but im getting a lot of "frame jitter" with it.

Do it. You will not regret it. Just be careful of what model you want. There is no such thing as an “untested” camera. I don’t have this specific Canon but canon is the way to go!

    hey jess! great video
I've got the same camera and put my first roll through last week.
my film came back super hazy and kinda unusable i had the tungsten setting on and not daylight. i think thats the mistake i made
have you ever ran a roll through with the red tungsten setting on? hoping its not my camera and just a rookie mistake
    thanks jess

Oooo Loved this!! Hearing the price, I don't think super 8 is for me lmao but I can just use yours when you come back to the PNW

you can get them much much cheaper! I got mine for 60 I think and recently saw someone selling his for 1 because the batteries leaked (which is no problem at all.)

Thanks for the video - I’ve just bought this camera on eBay myself. When you shoot the 200T do you use a daylight balancing filter to get those colours? I’ve ordered some 50D but not sure if it’ll be enough for the UK (probably similar weather to the PNW)
