Sad fact: Maurice was the first ally and Friend of Caesar in the primate sanctuary and the one who tells him that humans were dangerous. This will be the saddest death in the entire planet of the apes franchise 😢😢
It is. I never cried during any movie, I thought my heart was made of stone. But, when I saw Caeser die, it was the first time I cried because of a movie. Even Iron Man's death in Avengers endgame didn't do anything to me, I was unfazed even then. But this... this was heartbreaking...

I know it’s heavily implied with the framing and lighting but I love how this scene harkens back to religious paintings like “the creation of Adam” in the way ceasars and Maurice reach for each other but also feels like a birth of a new theology with Caesar as their patron saint/ messiah. Loved that
Everyone knows how good a fried Maurice is, but later in the clip just after this we can also see Rocket running to Caesar after he sees him dead laying down😢
A good leader wishes only peace and prosperity during their reign. It must've given Ceasar peace seeing the apes free, growing and thriving. Also had his best friend there. He must've been truly happy at the end.
This scene made me cry and not a lot of movies make me cry. That just proves with very little words can be so impactful that’s why planet of the apes is on of my personal favorite movie series. What a masterpiece
About a week ago, I watched the whole trilogy in one go for the first time as I hadn't actually seen Rise but had seen Dawn and War. I've got to say, it hit different after seeing the whole journey Caeser and the rest of the Apes had been through in those three films.
I remember legitimately balling when this scene happened. I’ve never in my life cried to a movie before in fact I was keeping track. 147 movies until this scene happened then it dropped to 0. Love this movie.
I actually thought of a movie where caesar is alive and his friends search for other like bad ape and found an ape that’s exactly like scar king except he’s controlling a bear using a shock collar
He was there for Ceaser when he arrived at the Ape Sanctuary, he stood with Ceaser all his life, and he was there the moment Ceaser died the final time we see Maurice, is in the opening moments of Kingdom where he was there to cremate Ceaser the very same night after his death
Caesar was so strong and helped the apes now the apes live in peace and he made many sacrifices also he killed Koba RIP Caesar ( “Apes alone weak apes together strong”)❤️❤️❤️
that wasn't a tear of sadness but a tear of finally being able to rest knowing he did what he wanted to do from the beginning rip to goat man 300yrs later and he still being talked about
In the new film, they have the Order of Caesar. And i feel like Maurice founded that order because as time went on, he know there would be apes like Koba to come about. And that Caesar's words would get twisted while the original Will of Caesar carried on through the Order of Caesar.
When I tell you guys, I cried so much and this movie I literally did and when I heard he died, bro I was bawling my eyes out and I couldn’t get this out of my mind
the fact that maurice was the first one to greet him in the shelter and there for caesar while he’s dying was the most painful things to know

I loved the trilogies, they were so good and this scene was one of the most heartbreaking scenes.
