Great video. I like your calm manner and thorough explanation. And you are to the point with no BS'ng for the first 5 minutes. Thx for making this video.

Obviously routine maintenance will keep you from having break downs. Also doing it yourself is a big plus Dave. I sometimes will snap a picture with my smartphone. This has saved me a lot of hassle when putting stuff back together. Thanks Dave, this was very helpful.

Thanks for making these videos. I bought a x738 this summer. Always good to see other people do things first. Thanks again!

I love that X738! When I first saw it I thought it was a bit much but after seeing what that little tractor can do I think it is a great deal! Plus reverse lights!!! =D Awesome service there, the deck looks fantastic!

With a spring that large, you're probably o.k. be careful when removing or installing with channel lock or vice grip. A wire loop or actual spring puller is preferred. Little nicks on hook end can turn into breaks over time. Also looks like the idler has an arm you could use with a wrench to remove tension b4 taking spring off?

The 15MM bolt that you removed from the drive shaft is the hole threaded on both sides of the drive shaft? When I pulled mine today I found that there was only threads on the one side it was smooth on the other and the threads were completely stripped on the front of the bolt. What I was going to do instead of replacing that drive shaft I was going to drill it out put another bolt in there with a Nilock nut on the other side so it can’t pull through.

The driveshaft is only threaded on one side with the pinch bolt. That should work putting a bolt through with a nut on the driveshaft.

@@stuntcardriver ok great I did not know that was normal. I’m just going to replace the pinch bolt then. Love the video I have it saved so when I took my gearbox off I followed it step-by-step. Thanks for all your help.

Going to install my gear box tomorrow. I can find nowhere in the manual it tells me the torque specs for the bolts on the lawnmower blades. How much torque did you put on your bolts that holds the blades in place? I definitely have your video ready to go for my install tomorrow. And thanks again.

For the 54 and 60 High Capacity decks the blades should be installed at 50 ft lbs. This is on page 30 in the mower deck manual under specifications.

The gearbox on my 2018 x700 w/ 60 deck came with magnet on the end of the fill plug. I thought that was a nice touch. Yours didn't appear to?

No. A magnet is always good though in a drain plug.
