    I had my x485 for 16 years and never had a problem. Changing fluids on time is important and worth it.

    I know this is an older video, but I'm just now watching it, for the axles, the part you said you thought might be the planetary gears: those are portal axles unless I'm mistaken. Very common in tractors and military vehicles (humvees have them too). Great video, I appreciate the extra info.

    I bought an immaculate 2012 convertible Corvette with 8,500 miles on it, 3 years ago.. dealer said all the fluids were changed and the had a tag on the windshield with the date and mileage. I got it home, and being a maintenance Nazi, I opened the hood and started looking around more closely.. the hoses and belts looked newer, and battery was replaced, and then I pulled the oil dipstick.. the oil was awful! Dirty and dark. Now some oils are darker, but the oil smelled quite used. Later, I took off the oil filter and ended up replacing it, and fresh synthetic oil, and continued to electrically test the anti-freeze, flushed and replaced that also, and replaced the brake fluid. Anyway, don't trust anyone with your equipment/toys/stuff. I just ordered a 2020 x738 and intend to know everything I can about it.. thank you for the video.

    Mine leaked hydraulic oil when new as well. I found the leak and fixed it myself. Apparently when they put the quick couplers on those 4 hydraulic connectors they didn’t tighten them. After I found them and tightened them it was fine. That was sloppy work by someone who installed those connectors.

    Front axle is separate unit. There is no fluid shared between axles. 80w90 front axle

    You may want to invest in a 5 dollars filter wrench.

    I am sure your dealer gave you that low viscosity hy-guard, yes ? Now if you look on the back of the jug at the temperature chart that the john deere engineers made for that oil , you will see that it is only good up to 84 degrees .. now that is max temp according to john deere engineers... so unless you live in a year round cold weather low vis is not the correct oil.. i dont know why some dealers keep pushing the low vis but they do.. now the cold side of low vis is -40 degrees if i remember correctly... now the temp for regular Hy-guard is 124 degrees down to -14 degrees now thats actual temp not wind chill that doesn't count... now for 75% of the country that is perfect temp range..now they can argue the point all they want but the fact is that their engineers you know the ones that make the oil and the tractor say those are the temp ranges.. now especially if you keep your machine in the garage Hy-Guard is the best all around hydro oil ..because with low vis hyguard you won't be able to use your machine for like half the summer cause oil will be past its temp range ,, anyway some food for thought ...

      one can only assume the eng. are more concerned about super cold temps than they are super hot temps.

    Ah you have the front/forward PTO shaft installed in yours. I just added it to my 2014 x738 along with the lockout valve on the hydraulics. Should have drained my whole system, but I didn’t, fluid still looks good. 463hrs on my machine. What is the fluid change interval after the first 50 hours. That’s what I keep seeing is 50hr service. Or is it every 50hrs change all the fluids?

    • @stuntcardriver
      @stuntcardriver  2 года назад +1

      After the initial 50 hour service, It is every 200 hours change the hydraulic fluid and filter.

    I believe all the bolts that Deere uses are Metric these days. Yes, there are SAE that will work, but for best results, use metric tools for everything on Deere machines.

      Under the hood there should be a maintenance schedule as well. You could also call your local dealer for the maintenance schedule. They should have a print out of the intervals.

    • @lylepagel1282
      @lylepagel1282 3 года назад

      The manual that I saw on the internet says first oil change at 50hrs only along with the other oil for drive line. Then 200 hrs for next oil change. I don't go 200 I go 2yrs or 100 hrs. Oil is cheap and my 345 with the same older engine doesn't use one drop of oil. They've got a good engine that has proved it's reliability..
