This is the year that made Eli an HOF. He was captain comeback all year and into the post season. If it wasn't for him, we would have not made the playoffs that year. But this game I feel won over most of the doubters by getting beat to a pulp and still hung in stepping into throws without being fazed. Respect!

This game... was THE most stressful game I've ever been through as a Giants fan. More than the 07-08 NFC Championship and even more than Super Bowls 42 and 46. Eli's toughness and "on to the next play" mentality, no matter what happened, was legendary.

For a guy who has never missed time due to an injury, to take so many hits on 50+ drop backs and get right back up every single time... bravo. He must have been really sore for his date with Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, and went ahead and beat him anyway. Incredible game, legendary performance, and one I'll never forget.
The two Eli/NY SB runs were the best playoff runs to watch(imo). What great plays to win crazy close OT games and kicking NE's rear end both times. The 90 run with a back up QB and an aging LT was special too.

This is one of my greatest memories of my life. In 1991 I was 12 and my Dad flew us out to the NFC Championship game in San Fran and we saw the Giants advance to the Super Bowl. In. 20 years later I returned the favor and flew him out for the game where we once again were in attendance to watch the Giants advance to the Super Bowl. I will never forget watching Weatherford and Cruz running around like madmen. Hopefully one day the Giants will be great again and I can witness it with my son.
regarding number 2 - I just recently saw a video saying that the Chargers had the best ever team to not when a super bowl... and it wasn't the 2006 team. They had a team, one season, that had the top ranked offense AND defense. But their special teams were shitty.

Been a Giants fan for thirty years. Never was a fan of the Giants drafting Eli , but this game Eli won my respect. It seemed like he got hit every snap he was beat up and he played well in bad game conditions cold rainy wet field and he showed so much poise in this game. Many QB are better than Eli talent wise but nobody had better poise under pressure than Eli.

This was my favorite game as a fan period, i knew as soon as we won this game that the Patriots had no chance. i celebrated the superbowl win 2 weeks early at the conclusion of this game.
I had the same amount of confidence for SB46. No way did I think the Giants were losing that one. As for SB42 I had the opposite feeling, felt it was a good playoff run and the Patriots were just unbeatable.
The difference I felt going into those Super Bowls was that the first time, I believed the Giants could win, while the second time, I believed they would win.

I would say this is Eli's best playoff game ever, because of how tough he was. He took such an awful pounding from the relentless SF defense. He just kept getting up. But there were also the 2 SB wins, and the freezeout in GB. Oh yeah, he beat GB twice in the playoffs, at Lambeau, to advance to play Tommy and Bill in the big game, twice. How did that go? Eli and Phil are 1A and 1A as an all time NYG fan. Phil lead us beautifully most of the way towards his second SB. The rest of his team brought it home for him. Also, as a NYG fan , always refer to this as the Devin Thomas Game. He made some clutch plays.
I just watched this game and it was not good for Eli. The stat line was generous. There were many times that Eli got away with mistakes that could have easily cost him the game.

And Eli still needed multiple lucky plays for narrow last second wins. To really put it in perspective. If the giants opposition just put up their average points per game, Eli goes 2-6. And those 2 wins? Over Tampa Bay by less than a point and 2011 Packers by 2. Oh, yeah, Eli scored 37 that game. The facts are that the Giants face 8 straight playoff teams that were 6-23 points below their season average. Below average every single time. Eli barely win and he's called a playoff genius. And you say that Eli got it done. Eli had 10 points on drives that started inside the 49ers 30. Outside of that, in 15 drives, he crossed the 50 yard line 2 other times. This is the game that typifies the career of Eli Manning. Never easy always under duress. But still overcame the onslaught of a really good defense. Signature Eli.
Actually the Giants (2011), and the Ravens (2012) were a 4 seed and we're a conference winner those two years in a row. Now if this was before 2002 (the year they realigned everything to the now 32 teams), yeah both would be wild card.
Victor Cruz was such a monster this game. 125 yards in the first half against this vaunted 49ers defense with greats like Pat Willis and Navarro Bowman. Going up against Carlos Rogers who was an all-pro and pro bowl corner that year. Probably my favorite Giant of all time, largely because of his origin story, I mean how can you not love it. UDFA, small school, got free agent offers from 3 or 4 teams and picked the Giants as a kid from Jersey. He didn't have a lengthy successful career, largely because of injuries but he shined when it mattered most and that was in this season, which was his first active year since he was hurt as a rookie and didn't start much in 2010. 1500+ yards, 9 TDs, and named an all-pro in really what was his true rookie season, as an undrafted receiver, and wins a super bowl ring to cap it off. I didn't grow up in LT's era, so for me Cruz is definitely up there in terms of my favorite player to ever put on a NYG uniform. The only team in league history to get to and win a super bowl with a 9-7 regular season record, and arguably an even more impressive and improbable run than 2007. They had to go into Lambeau to play the 15-1 packers who were the defending champs, then go on the road to play the 13-3 49ers who were the league's best defense, and then cap it off by once again playing Tom Brady's 13-3 Patriots in the Super Bowl and upsetting them yet again. Oh and that's all after having to beat the Cowboys in Dallas in week 17, in a win or go home game to even make the playoffs in the first place.
I don’t care what anyone says, Eli should be in the hall of fame. He qualifies based on yards past and the fact that he excelled in big games especially the superbowls. Troy Aikman made it and he was just a game manager who handed the ball to Emmit Smith. He was just on a good team but was never the centerpiece of the offense. The fate of the Giants was dependent on Eii Eli excelled in this game. He got absolutely demolished by the SF d-line but persevered . Look at 2:25:44, that is the mark of a warrior.

This was a great era of the NFL as far as big games went. The two upsets of the Giants over THE PATRIOTS, for example, displayed the 'don't give up' mentality of all of football in the years ahead. Success on JUST A FEW big plays is akin to a late inning homerun by a Bucky Dent TYPE that eventually wins for his team in a playoff game. That's the Eli Giants of that great era.

We had a good oline so it's not like he got hit like this every week!!! He couldn't practice for these kind of hits and for him to not get thrown off his game is incredible!! This was a great playoffs in general. This game, the Super Bowl, Tebow and Broncos upsetting the Steelers, Patriots squeezing past Ravens and the classic Saints/49ers game. Plus for defensive fans the Texans/Ravens was a tough fought game. Great stuff

The 49ers also lost on third down conversions (1/13) and red zone touchdown efficiency (0/1).
This was the season, and particularly this game, that made me a believer in Eli Manning. In 2007, you could easily chalk up New York’s success to their great pass rush, a reasonably good running game, Brett Favre throwing one of his famous season killing interceptions, and Eli was able to not fuck things up during the postseason despite his best efforts (how Asante dropped that INT in Super Bowl 42, I’ll never know). But this season, so many times he carried the team on his back and was able to pull off a victory late in the game. I believe he set a then NFL record that year for 4th quarter touchdown passes, and pretty much all of them were necessary just to keep the Giants alive. And this game was the most impressive performance in my opinion, even more so than Super Bowl 46 because of how incredibly awesome that 49ers defense was. That evening, the Niners were on a warpath, and they beat the ever loving shit out of Eli, but the man just refused to take no for an answer, as he threw the ball 58 times, was sacked 6 times, hit numerous other times, yet didn’t turn the ball over ONCE. I know that one game or even one season doesn’t make a Hall of Famer, but Eli deserves to be in Canton someday, I don’t care what anyone says.
But Eli still had to do his own end of the bargain in 2007. If it wasn't for his game-winning drive to help Big Blue outlast the Patriots in SB 42, Michael Strahan wouldn't have a Super Bowl ring on his finger going into Canton.

This was my favorite game as a fan period, i knew as soon as we won this game that the Patriots had no chance. i celebrated the superbowl win 2 weeks early at the conclusion of this game.
I had the same amount of confidence for SB46. No way did I think the Giants were losing that one. As for SB42 I had the opposite feeling, felt it was a good playoff run and the Patriots were just unbeatable.

I would say this is Eli's best playoff game ever, because of how tough he was. He took such an awful pounding from the relentless SF defense. He just kept getting up. But there were also the 2 SB wins, and the freezeout in GB. Oh yeah, he beat GB twice in the playoffs, at Lambeau, to advance to play Tommy and Bill in the big game, twice. How did that go? Eli and Phil are 1A and 1A as an all time NYG fan. Phil lead us beautifully most of the way towards his second SB. The rest of his team brought it home for him. Also, as a NYG fan , always refer to this as the Devin Thomas Game. He made some clutch plays.
I just watched this game and it was not good for Eli. The stat line was generous. There were many times that Eli got away with mistakes that could have easily cost him the game.

Something to think about. The 2007 and 2011 Giants defense combined for 15.1 points per game and an opposing passer rating of 74. Let's be honest, what QB cannot beat that? And Eli still needed multiple lucky plays for narrow last second wins.
To really put it in perspective. If the giants opposition just put up their average points per game, Eli goes 2-6. And those 2 wins? Over Tampa Bay by less than a point and 2011 Packers by 2. Oh, yeah, Eli scored 37 that game.
The facts are that the Giants face 8 straight playoff teams that were 6-23 points below their season average. Below average every single time. Eli barely win and he's called a playoff genius.
And you say that Eli got it done. Eli had 10 points on drives that started inside the 49ers 30. Outside of that, in 15 drives, he crossed the 50 yard line 2 other times. And he needed 58 attempts for 316 yards and 2 TDs. With that many attempts, a good QB is pushing 500 yards. I don't understand what you are talking about.

This is the game that typifies the career of Eli Manning. Never easy always under duress. But still overcame the onslaught of a really good defense. Signature Eli.
This game just goes to show you how much of an x-factor special teams can be.
And also the little things like turnovers, points especially touchdowns off turnovers, third-down conversions, and red zone touchdown efficiency.

Actually the Giants (2011), and the Ravens (2012) were a 4 seed and we're a conference winner those two years in a row. Now if this was before 2002 (the year they realigned everything to the now 32 teams), yeah both would be wild card.

I was saying this in general, not specifically one season.
Victor Cruz was such a monster this game. 125 yards in the first half against this vaunted 49ers defense with greats like Pat Willis and Navarro Bowman. Going up against Carlos Rogers who was an all-pro and pro bowl corner that year.
Probably my favorite Giant of all time, largely because of his origin story, I mean how can you not love it. UDFA, small school, got free agent offers from 3 or 4 teams and picked the Giants as a kid from Jersey. He didn't have a lengthy successful career, largely because of injuries but he shined when it mattered most and that was in this season, which was his first active year since he was hurt as a rookie and didn't start much in 2010. 1500+ yards, 9 TDs, and named an all-pro in really what was his true rookie season, as an undrafted receiver, and wins a super bowl ring to cap it off. I didn't grow up in LT's era, so for me Cruz is definitely up there in terms of my favorite player to ever put on a NYG uniform.
The only team in league history to get to and win a super bowl with a 9-7 regular season record, and arguably an even more impressive and improbable run than 2007. They had to go into Lambeau to play the 15-1 packers who were the defending champs, then go on the road to play the 13-3 49ers who were the league's best defense, and then cap it off by once again playing Tom Brady's 13-3 Patriots in the Super Bowl and upsetting them yet again. Oh and that's all after having to beat the Cowboys in Dallas in week 17, in a win or go home game to even make the playoffs in the first place.
The Giants and 49ers just play amazing games.

I don’t care what anyone says, Eli should be in the hall of fame. He qualifies based on yards past and the fact that he excelled in big games especially the superbowls. Troy Aikman made it and he was just a game manager who handed the ball to Emmit Smith. He was just on a good team but was never the centerpiece of the offense. The fate of the Giants was dependent on Eii Eli excelled in this game. He got absolutely demolished by the SF d-line but persevered . Look at 2:25:44, that is the mark of a warrior.

This was a great era of the NFL as far as big games went. The two upsets of the Giants over THE PATRIOTS, for example, displayed the 'don't give up' mentality of all of football in the years ahead. Success on JUST A FEW big plays is akin to a late inning homerun by a Bucky Dent TYPE that eventually wins for his team in a playoff game. That's the Eli Giants of that great era.
If you’re a life-long Giants fan, you probably always were a huge Eli fan but this particular game is when he became a legend and an immortal Giant. This is where Eli put himself in the pantheon of the greatest Giants ever. What a gutsy performance.

Eli needed a wheelbarrow to carry his balls out of the stadium with him after this game. Tough as nails and kept on taking the hits. We had a good oline so it's not like he got hit like this every week!!! He couldn't practice for these kind of hits and for him to not get thrown off his game is incredible!! Absolutely incredible performance by number 10. Talk about Mr. Cool Miss him and these days of Giants football.

This was a great playoffs in general. This game, the Super Bowl, Tebow and Broncos upsetting the Steelers, Patriots squeezing past Ravens and the classic Saints/49ers game. Plus for defensive fans the Texans/Ravens was a tough fought game. Great stuff

As much as I want to as a, Patriots fan, hate Eli Manning, I can't. He's just tough, Son Of a Bitch, and you know what, how can anyone hate the guy? He's a legit great human being. This NFC Championship Game was amazing in that Manning didn't sustain an ugly injury that could've cost him his career. The beating he took in this game might be the reason why he's struggled since the 2012 season, even though they won the Superbowl 2 weeks after this game. The Giants OLine has been atrocious since 2012.

Sure, Kyle Williams had two lost fumbles, but those two lost fumbles give the Giants 10 points automatically? No. Eli Manning still has to lead Big Blue to them where the San Francisco 49ers defense, who were tied for first with the Green Bay Packers in takeaways in 2011 with 38, could've gotten the takeaway right back.

This game and the Green Bay one is easily top ten games of all time. Same with both super bowls for Eli
This was the season, and particularly this game, that made me a believer in Eli Manning. In 2007, you could easily chalk up New York’s success to their great pass rush, a reasonably good running game, Brett Favre throwing one of his famous season killing interceptions, and Eli was able to not fuck things up during the postseason despite his best efforts (how Asante dropped that INT in Super Bowl 42, I’ll never know). But this season, so many times he carried the team on his back and was able to pull off a victory late in the game. I believe he set a then NFL record that year for 4th quarter touchdown passes, and pretty much all of them were necessary just to keep the Giants alive. And this game was the most impressive performance in my opinion, even more so than Super Bowl 46 because of how incredibly awesome that 49ers defense was. That evening, the Niners were on a warpath, and they beat the ever loving shit out of Eli, but the man just refused to take no for an answer, as he threw the ball 58 times, was sacked 6 times, hit numerous other times, yet didn’t turn the ball over ONCE. I know that one game or even one season doesn’t make a Hall of Famer, but Eli deserves to be in Canton someday, I don’t care what anyone says.
But Eli still had to do his own end of the bargain in 2007. If it wasn't for his game-winning drive to help Big Blue outlast the Patriots in SB 42, Michael Strahan wouldn't have a Super Bowl ring on his finger going into Canton.
