Lol LOVED THAT TEAM!
Thanks for showing this it brought back great memories I remember my young son and me watching we couldn’t believe they won but also sad memories because he is no longer with us he went to heaven yrs ago
You could also say he was carried by a weaker conference putting 3 afc titles on his resume in the 80’s and he was a little lucky the 49ers didn’t win through in 97 and 98 as I think they would have been a much worse match up for him .
That's not accurate. The Orange Crush was established long before Elway came along and was instrumental to the cause. It's especially annoying given how well Craig Morton played in Elway's absence. Revisionist history at work. Elway made Denver better. But he wasn't carrying anyone.
Actually I think it was another coach that gave Elway more impressive stats and no it wasn't Mike Shanahan although he was also among those who assisted him.
Like I said that's balderdash. Denver was quite competent and actually quite competitive without Elway. Elway maybe made the difference as far as getting there but a championship is rarely about an individual. He was always so disappointing in the Super Bowl. Honestly I thought he wouldn't win it.
Last two scores were cut? Shame this turned into such a route after Denver played well in the first half Kind of wish they had made the FG and the Mobley TD (dropped) at the end of the 2nd. Would have given them a 20-9 lead and the Giants still would have done that 2nd half... so 39-30 would have been an epic score
Forgot how much better the Super Bowl used to be in every aspect than it is now. Outdoors during the day, played on grass (usually). Halftime show was more tasteful and low key as well, rather than the glitzy commercialized garbage they showcase now.

@@cosmosaic8117 Also, we hear the great, late CBS Sports announcer Don Robertson on that sponsor plug-- he was one of the best (and IMO, probably the best) ever to announce for a network's sports broadcasts.
Tom Jackson FROM!!! Louisville
5:00 Andy headen not a fan of the cameraman
Yeah, 5 year old me sat down just in time for that.
I remember that! Me and my buddy was talking about the next day at school.
The days before seven-second delay...
Always good to relive one of the most indelible memories of my childhood - Andy Headen telling the cameraman "Hey man, get the fuck outta here" during the introductions.
I remember this game like it was yesterday brother.....I was 9 years old when I fell in love with my New York FOOTBALL Giants.... growing up in Staten Island was awesome back in the days and even at 9 years old I KNEW this would be my team for life. I remember drawing a poster for my Dad's Superbowl party...... I'm just a BIG a fan now than I ever was back in 86'. Thanks for uploading this CLASSIC gem. Go Giants NATION!!!
I was 11 when this game happened and was a Giants fan from when I was small. I also loved the Jets, but the 86 Giants were running things that year. I watched every game that year and couldn't believe we made it to the Super Bowl. And when we won, NY was an amazing place to be. Our first Super Bowl appearance and we win!.
I hear you. This was the first football game I ever watched, though I was 10 at the time. I'm a 3rd generation Giants fan and this game was played on my dad's birthday. After suffering all those years, what a birthday present to see the Giants win their first championship in 23 years.
1:26:45 is the last incompletion for Simms for the ENTIRE GAME.
I remember this game well. As a Giants fan, it was very gratifying.
Brent's halftime highlights. George Martin sacks John Elway for a field goal. I was smoking that day as well.
As a Redskins fan, the Giants beat us in all 3 meetings that season. Just too good, one of the best teams ever. Love all these Super Bowls from the 70's & 80's
When it was a game, not a show.
RIP Dan Reeves
What happened to the final Denver TD...a TD catch by Vance Johnson?
The tuna was always great at punt fakes on 4th down in big games. Did it in 1990 NFC Championship Game vs. 49ers as well to keep them in the game.
John Taylor saved a touchdown in '90. Reasons was GONE.
Love the commercials too!
The Diet Slice one is my fave!
I don’t know the touchdowns for New York and Denver.
if u happened to stay on for the entire broadcast and watch the interviews at the end u may hv the same opinion as me..there was some real class acts in that giants org.. they were ( in no particular order) mr.wellington mara, mr. bill parcells, mr. phil simms, mr. carl banks and mr. george martin..just class, class, class!..on the other hand , dan reeves still trying to score a td with 1 min to go and NO chance of winning? not so much..ps thanks mr gelman for making another great giants gm available! it made me feel young! Lol
LOVED THAT TEAM!
Why is Reeves a bad guy for doing what he is paid to do?
I don’t know the timestamps of touchdowns.
One of my favorite Super Bowls in the great venue of the Rose Bowl. I always found the daytime to nighttime Super Bowls to be the coolest
8:54 this iconic song’s origins
I wonder do you have the CBS pregame and any of the local post game and victory rally celebration ?
Big time memories of super bowl 21. Was only 12 years old at the time
me too
I WAS ONLY 2 BACK THEN!!
Damn y’all old
Same! My dad and I were there. Dream come true.
Thanks for showing this it brought back great memories I remember my young son and me watching we couldn’t believe they won but also sad memories because he is no longer with us he went to heaven yrs ago
I was there and it was Glorious…..
2:34:51 looks like a kid wearing an adult uniform
Did yall notice that Neil Diamonds rendition of the National Anthem only took 1 minute?
That was one lame halftime show.
9:27 - Just the National Anthem by Niel Diamond.. that was it for the pregame ceremony.. a few minutes and it's over.
Felt bad for Elway back in the 80's. He carried that team for years until Shanahan took over and got him some help
Shame this turned into such a route after Denver played well in the first half
Kind of wish they had made the FG and the Mobley TD (dropped) at the end of the 2nd.
33:28 parcells with the quiet swag "we got this" lol
I hope they do this year's Super Bowl just like they used to do these. I miss watching the players get announced.
morehead st qb starting and winning a sb .. probably won't happen again
Missing the Giants last TD
