"Shaddup Mr Burton. You are not put on this earth to get it!" - one of my alltime favorite lines. 👍
I can’t remember but there is a Bible verse that made me think of this!
"Who are these people? Friends of yours? Now this really p!sses me off to no end!"
"Now this REALLY pisses me off to no end!"
My favorite line from the movie!
Such a good actor. He started as an "Oriental type" and turned it into a "James Hong type."
Well put, Mister Conley.
Dude, he did THE BEST impersonation of The Smoking Man on The X-Files.
There is only ONE James Hong! A true original!
It's his voice.
And versatile too. His comedic chops are incredible.
He will always be David Lopan
david????half jew half chinese???
Always David lopan head wingkong exchange lol
Nah Brah, for some of us he's the blind guy in balls of fury....or snotty from revenge of the nerds. That being said, love that guy! #indeed
Seinfeld, Seinfeld two for Seinfeld?
*INDEED!*
I have to constantly pause and remind myself that this man was over EIGHTY YEARS OLD when this was filmed.
There’s icons, and then there’s James Hong.
He outlasted Abe Vigoda and Betty white!!!!!
He was 90
He was born in 1929 so he wasn't 80 when the film was in production in 1984. He's still with us in 2023. And last movie he's done is Kung Fu Panda 4 (release date in 2024).
1932, St Paul Mn
Long time ago
And he still looks to be in great shape even today in 2024. I hope the years treat me as kindly as they have James Hong
This man is a national treasure.
David Lo Pan is one of the most badass villains of all time. His first appearance, where he beckons Burton to run him over, is my favorite introduction of a villain in a movie. Things get weird with the funeral, then weirder with the Tong war, then downright supernatural with the introduction of the Three Storms, then FINALLY the revelation of the Big Bad, the main man himself, the immortal Lo Pan. For me David Lo Pan represents everything beyond normal human experience dealing with the occult, mysticism, etc beckoning us all down the rabbit hole where every unreal thing becomes possible.
That's right Egg Shen...the best of two worlds!!
Cartwright? Cartwright?
He’s still got it! We just need the light coming out of his eyes!!!
I love it when actors aren’t too proud to give fans a little taste of their characters in public. I have no doubt that up to a point it gets irritating but it’s nice to know they appreciate the fans.
“Have you paid your dues?”
“Yes, sir, the check is in the mail!”
One of my all time favorites movies. I grew up with this movie and have seen it countless times.
watching this video in 2021, I got goose bumps, LO PAN is my favorite 80s villain !!!!! I was born in 1980 and lived watching "Big Trouble in Little China". congratulations to JAMES HONG !!!! I send this message directly from Brazil / Amazonas !!!

James Hong you're the man!!!
When the film released he would've been very disappointed with the public response. But I can bet at the time he'd have never anticipated that it would turn into one of the most loved films of the 80s.
The man is a national treasure.
Stuff like this is what makes the internet awesome.
How this 12 year old video just pop up as a recommendation is beyond me. But I've seen this movie and THA MAN still got it. Great reenactment. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
James Hong is a living legend.. lopan was one of my favorite movie villains of all time..

I love this guy! I once saw him, in of all places, Chinatown in Los Angeles.
I always loved this character!
In my top 5 all time favorite movies. Nothing more fun than Big Trouble.
Simply Perfection. We are not worthy to even watch this.
I had to log into youtube, which I rarely do these days, just to say how completely awesome Mr Hong is. Terrific comedic performance in RIPD. I've enjoyed his talent for decades. He's done so much directing, TV, voice over and films that there are few people that have NOT at some point seen some of his work, whether they're aware of it or not. This guy has accomplished more in TV and film than most people in the business but he's still humble enough to interact with his fans like this.
This man is a national treasure. 🙂
Good gosh, he can still bring it!!!!
That is awesome. Some actors are too stuffy to do lines from their past movies , but not Mr Hong!
A friend went to a movie convention and got me an autograph card from James Hong because he knew BTILC was one of my favorite movies. Thanks Kurt!
I had a lot of pictures of him when he was in Philadelphia. Nice guy!
