- On October 6th, 2005, Airbus held the "industrial launch" event for its new aircraft: The long-range A350 family, consisting of the -900 and -800. This new type was the company's answer to the Boeing 787. While it was designed to incorporate the latest technologies of the time, including composite wings and new engines, the aircraft looked startlingly similar to the A330. So what happened?

And the old A350 design became the new A330NEO
I’m a Boeing fan, but I have to admit - - the A350 is one fine looking airplane.
being boeing fan no make sense to me. why be fan of aircraft manufacturer who run by businessman in suit who have no care of safety?
@@damsom1431I don’t care about all of that, I just like their planes, that’s all
@@Your_Local_Nerd real
@@damsom1431Boeing’s management has changed significantly since 2019. Other than that, Airbus is the exact same except that they copy Boeing sometimes.
@@TacticaLLRwell, Airbus hasn't sacrificed safety for profit yet. If that isn't a major difference, I don't know what is.
So instead of being upgraded A330, they became upgraded A340 instead.
The A350 can do everything the A340 could, but with 2 engines less.
It could match the A340-500 range with the A350-900ULR type.
And the A350-1000 have just slightly smaller but still similar capacity and range to the A340-600 while having to use only 2 engines.
And even further, the A330 has their own upgraded A330neo. A330-800 and A330-900 to replace their old A330-200 and A330-300, respectively.
It's perfect.
The original A350 design became the A330neo
A350 900 is like the 787-10 and the A350-1000 is like the 777-200/ ER in terms of capacity
Yeah, that’s a well-known story by this point. The airlines didn’t want it just like they have not wanted to 330 neo
This then later became the A330NEO 😂
I had no idea these changes occurred!! Thanks for the insight!
just show how great of company is Airbus! how they make A350 one of greatest airplane in world is UNBELEVABLE!
They changed the design after the revolutionary carbon-fiber B787 design came out.
He filters out comments he doesn't like ,yet keeps this know nothing Damsom ,who knows absolutely nothing about aviation, and continues to post childlike comments.
Everything would definitely be better with GEnx power 😍😍😍 interesting that the old visual graphic of the GEnx shows it with 20 blades instead of the 18 blades it actually has
superb mister
Airlines decide, Airbus follows!
Its now the best and most advanced passenger jet available so they made the right decisions .
I remember how ho-hum people were about it. Good thing they went back to work and came up with something good. The old 350 became the new 330neo.
I wonder if they are planning the A-370 or A-360.
Doubt, there really isn't a need for any right now
@@MiguelSucksAtUrbanismTrue
Maybe for the next generation single aisle A320 successor
@@cskvisionthat will probably be the A220
Somebody once before had pointed out that because of the MH370 accident the A370 may not happen.
But why did they have to do the redesign? Like specifically what did the airlines not like?
Major airlines and aircraft lessors. Too many to list.
The Airbus A330neo-800 will be in demand in the future.
hahahahaha 😂😂😂😂
Maybe, but I highly doubt that
It's Gee Eee N X, not Jen X.

350 is away ahead of the game. It's given Boeing food for thought .
No it hasn't. The 787 has outsold the A350-900 and the 777-300ER has outsold the A350-1000.
The only food for thought it really gave them was they needed to come out with the 777x, and they still dont compete directly plane for plane.
I agree the Boeing 787 still features more advance features than the A350 including the turbulence dampening system on the 787's wings. @@mh12-47
I personally believe that many airlines don't buy A350 because Airbus doesn't have GE engine to offer - the same issue with A330neo
It’s opposite airline like china buy a350 because of roysroyse
A330neo
What abiut a360,a370 to fill in hap between a380 and a5350
I think there i no need
Back of the plane ladies.......
