I turned to my partner whilst we were watching this and said "people who run toy shops are so nice!' - Thanks for renewing my faith in humanity a little guys!
addictive viewing guys speaking as someone who is disabled and cant get out much its nice to see different shops and get enjoyment from your enjoyment even if it is second hand. looking forward to next week from the preview i think its Derbyshire based. enjoyed meeting you last week Joe take care mate all the best Ian.
Nerd Base? Oh my days! You guys almost (almost) got out Nerded! What a fabulous place! Love the Mego Star Trek and EVERYTHING in In Demand was Fantastic! Better to have lost a SWOOP than never to have SWOOPed at all! Love it!
Great episode again chaps, cheers. I'm also very glad you liked the Sunstreaker's box insert (20:54) and Fang helicopter at Ray's Retro as I was the previous owner:) :) As a kid I tried my best to put the stickers in the correct places on the Action Force vehicles (so many of them on a sheet!) and I thought I'd got it right wrapping the long yellow/red ones around the helicopter's blades (it looked colourful when they spun) only to discover as an adult the stickers should've been placed lengthwise (doh!:) All the best.
Heard about you guys through Brick Mantooth. It's not just the toys, it the infectious enthusiasm you two show with every find. Thanks for all you guys do, and I hope someday to get over to the other side of the pond to say hi!
Thoroughly enjoying the tour so far , but this is a place I’ve got to visit …once I remortgage the house!!! , these are great stores your visiting and entertaining videos keep them coming 👍🏻
The best in this series so far for me; perhaps due to Nerd Base being up the road from me, and have fuelled my toy addiction over the last couple of years 😁. Great stuff! 👍😊🕹️
I knew I didn't remember Swoop from my childhood. I had no recollection of him, and his Titans figure was a surprise to me. So, he just didn't come to the UK after all. Thanks for that info!
I'm often scrabbling about looking for my wallet at home. Never again. I'm going to keep it in my 50's style lime green microwave from now on. Top tip, thanks gents 👍
5:00 Yeah View Master kind of went through a technology advancement phase after Y2K, sound features, 3D to VR phase via smartphone. Guess they were trying to modernize the idea but all that electronic stuff raised the price significantly for a simple idea, kind of reminded me of what happened to game console controllers after PS3 era in cost versus improvement ratio being more lateral than hugely better.
Daughter had loads of Turtles stuff but when it became naff, we couldn't even car boot it away. The whole lot went in the bin as did loads of Raggy Dolls, Polly Pocket and Cabbage Patch.
32:23 "Transformers! , Just shows you how things can sometimes be not quite as they appear." Yeah that was a really hard tagline to remember in the theme song. ^_^
What tends to come across with these nostalgia shops is the best and irreplaceable stuff, the seller is reluctant to sell. The buyer can have the less glamourous stuff. Once all the cream has gone, the shop is left holding a lot of tat so the good stuff has to be hung onto.
Superman's Jet could be repainted Silver or gray and turn it into his rocket ship that landed in Kansas. Then find a small figurine of a baby wrapped in blanket and paint the blanket red.
When you go into rays retro in sudbury and point at the tv and talk about whst playing on it it was from alt8 aka Dean from all things eights if you did not guess thst
Been to the nerd base since it opened Craig and Ryan doing a good job. Was there when you guys were filming pleasure to have met you the camera man needs a medal that camera looked heavy
Okay been watching all the episodes. The one thing I don't LIKE is how the heavier guy ALWAYS want's the sweet deal so he can sell it at an inflated price in his own shop...I would gather. It's wrong if you ask me, as these shops have these things to make a living and sell at their original prices. But NO, this dude wants it all his way for cheap prices....lol
If that’s the way you think then you’ve completely missed the whole point of this channel. They do the tour to showcase and promote other stores and businesses around the country, these stores get exposure and a shining review and are clearly as you can see from the videos very happy to be in the series. Giving a discount is a perfectly reasonable gesture for that kind of interaction, especially seeing as these guys are already friends AND the items already have a decent enough markup on them, it’s a “you help us out we help you out” scenario. This happens in all kinds of businesses especially when it comes to buying and selling secondhand goods - watch any antiques program out there and the buyer will barter with the dealer. Build a relationship with a business and they’re more than likely to offer you discounts. Would you prefer if they just went to the stores and didn’t buy anything? Be happy that these people have put so much time, money and effort into making a fun and enjoyable series for you to watch and respect the process rather than sitting behind a keyboard whinging cos you missed out.
He’s a young proprietor. It will still end up in the collectors hands for hopefully no more than 750 but he could’ve pocketed all 750 from a collector. I guess there’s a trade-off… Free advertising from the video and a discount on Blackstar. That was painful to watch.
Depends how you look at the show. It’s showcasing all these U.k. shops, it’s increasing their reach introducing new customers from all over the country (world even!) and it’s free advertising. No shopkeeper was harmed in the making of this series I assure you ✌️
@@mgl76 I knew someone would come up with that reason. But people find these shops anyway. Most people going to a new town or city would Google and ask friends about such things. And is it free if he is giving a discount? A 20% discount! That Sunseeker was a great price already.
@@mgl76 but after a year of restrictions asking for a discount is cheeky. In a business where every pound counts, I personally think it’s bad taste. Anyway, It’s a well produced video and some of these shops don’t exactly lend themselves to more then 4 people being in there at anyone time!
I genuinely do appreciate your concern @Jdslater but as the owner of Ray's Retro I can promise you I was very happy to do Joe and the boys a discount. I imagine more so as a new shop as opposed to some of the better established shops, mainly because I am new and the exposure I am getting from this is invaluable to me. The last words from Joe to me in this episode was to offer his help to me if I needed it in the future and for that and for including such a small and new shop on their tour I will be eternally grateful. For the record some of my customers haggle and some dont but I think with second hand items it has to be expected and I enjoy the 'coming to a deal' part of the job :)
I turned to my partner whilst we were watching this and said "people who run toy shops are so nice!' - Thanks for renewing my faith in humanity a little guys!
Another thoroughly enjoyable 36 mins of nostalgia with some more must visit shops noted - Thanks Joe, Gav and Matt.
Cheers mate 👍

Thanks very much! We’ll come back and see you soon, hope your mum is feeling better 👍
That’s great to hear Ian and made my day 👍
Really happy to hear reproduction Transformers described as 'knock offs'.

You guys keep smashing it out of the park. Superb episode!
Great series, production values are brilliant too. I live very near nerdbase and been to Ray's Retro too. Craig and Tony are really nice guys

In my best Richie Benaud voice "What a catch"! Another great episode.

That’s very kind, we intend on making series 3 a US/Canada one in 2023/2024.
Well done Joseph, that Blackstar set is amazing! 😁👍😎
Another great episode. Throughly enjoy every single one!
I agree with you Gav I love the obscure toys noone wanted.!
Brilliant series.
Another great episode. Keep them coming!
Another amazing episode. Fat Ninja... 🥷 🤣
This has inspired me to take part in a road trip to these places. All 3 destinations seemed amazing.
One foul swoop!? Another good'un lads. Thoroughly enjoyable stuff. 😄👍
Awesome episode as always. Keep them coming 🔥👍
100% going to that first one 😍
How good is this series. Top episode once again. Well done guys!
That was awesome guys and the Blackstar standoff was epic! 👍

Great video...
Hi Iv now watched all 7 episodes of your toy series, and its so well put together and great to watch, cant wait to see more of you both in future :)
I knew I didn't remember Swoop from my childhood. I had no recollection of him, and his Titans figure was a surprise to me. So, he just didn't come to the UK after all. Thanks for that info!
Great episode
Love ur video Gys !!!
I cannot wait for episode eight Lads!
Awesome episode! Greetings from chicago!
I used to have those little rollerball turtles, totally forgot about those until now.
Those turtles with the ball bearings are the playing pieces from the game 'Tower of Doom' and there were the 4 turtles, splinter and shredder
NERD BASE is my fave shop but Craig drives a hard bargin lol
Excellent. The price of 1990s collectable makes me feel very old.
Same!!
I'm often scrabbling about looking for my wallet at home. Never again. I'm going to keep it in my 50's style lime green microwave from now on. Top tip, thanks gents 👍

Good for you Craig, not letting Joe beat you up on the prices too bad. Can't wait to visit Leicester toy shop and do some bartering lmao 😆 🤣
Fantastic, nice to see behind the scenes at In Demand.
Is 'breakie' Joe's new catchphrase?
He doesn’t need anymore catchphrases!!
Modern toys will be tomorrow's collectables worth getting
Daughter had loads of Turtles stuff but when it became naff, we couldn't even car boot it away.
The whole lot went in the bin as did loads of Raggy Dolls, Polly Pocket and Cabbage Patch.
Nerd Base is one of my locals Toy places, I go there 2 times a month most months if not more, always great items
32:23 "Transformers! , Just shows you how things can sometimes be not quite as they appear." Yeah that was a really hard tagline to remember in the theme song. ^_^
Toy shop in your 4 Japan?
Thanks guy love your show!!
Another fab episode chaps. Was good to see In Demand Toys, having been an online customer of theirs for a while now. 🙂

❤️

Been to nerd base not bad shop
Awesome channel. New sub.
Doesn’t one of you have the fantastic horror house drawing company?? I got one from FTLOH
Yep Gav is Cult locations ink and the retro Draughtsman as well!
How was the Blackstar set not toy of the day???????
Seemed to obvious at the time…… now it just appears foolish! 😂
Been to the nerd base since it opened Craig and Ryan doing a good job. Was there when you guys were filming pleasure to have met you the camera man needs a medal that camera looked heavy
inside the microwave is the 1st pace I check when i burgul homes....
When is out of this world toys
Episode 9 I believe
Those Cadbury figures be worth having now since Cadbury s doesn't exist anymore. Once the best chocolate 🍫 you could get not anymore 😂
considering the free advertising craig was getting for his shop he really had issues with moving on his prices not a good look for his shop
How do you iron out box crumples and creases? Is it literally with an iron on the box?
Yeah kinda sorta but no. Clean Tea towel or similar between iron and box. Go steady.
Is it me or does Gav sound like guy martin? 🤣

Asking a business that has just started out for a discount after he’s been suffering through the shutdown is pretty out of order.
