    Ableton combined with Keyboard Maestro is so powerful. The best workflow I ever had, plus the ability to have chatgpt make any complex script for you in seconds… banger.

      My pleasure! It’s a very niche part of music production but VERY addictive.

      🙂 There’s a limit to what PLE commands can do.. Having that extra flexibility to control OS functions in tandem is liberating!
      Been trying to learn AutoHotKeys on Windows, along with Visual Code to write scripts for automating certain processes. Maestro is way easier to get along with, shame it’s not on PC too!

    thanks for this great video!!! As a pro Cubase user, do you have any video on making live easier when working/switching with/to Ableton? I cant switch, tried so many times but get stuck on piano roll editor for instance ❤ Specially since Ableton doesnt let you change key commands...maybe i should change all the Cubase shortcuts i have to Ableton-like ones (damn muscle memory LOL).😂

      I would love to make a studio tour. Things have changed quite a bit recently so an update is definitely overdue.
      The faders are the Icon Platform M+.
      I find it to work best with Cubase (when paired with the custom midi remote script from the Cubase forum).

    Hi Brian! Discovered your content recently on r/cubase, great stuff! I also love to use my streamdeck and now adding keyboard maestro to my setup, thanks! I have a question though, I have been using cubase for 10 years but I switched to ableton from 2015-2018 and honestly it was the most fun I had making music, then switched back to cubase because I compared the cpu load and cubase was handling CPU much better than ableton, at the time at least. Have you noticed a decrease in CPU power in ableton now? I have an M1 Max 64gb of RAM macbook pro, and would like to incorporate back ableton to my workflow, but I don't want to give up on cpu power. Thanks!

    • @BrianRivlin
      @BrianRivlin  6 месяцев назад +1

      It’s hard for me to tell. I mostly work on my 2029 Mac Pro. So it’s a totally different beast. I do have an M1 Max MBP as well but I didn’t really compare performances.
      I will say this though, Cubase has a genius thing that I don’t fully understand called ASIO guard that REALLY helps with performance. So this is probably what you’re noticing when comparing it to Ableton.
      I find that I’m struggling with CPU when I’m trying to treat Ableton like Cubase.
      So when I’m in Ableton I print my tracks WAY more and play with the audio and mess it up and get better results with less CPU usage.
      But again, that’s just my two cents.
      I hope this helps.

    • @cesaruribesantibanez8260
      @cesaruribesantibanez8260 6 месяцев назад

      @@BrianRivlin Yes asio guard is like a second buffer. Seems like things are in a similar state than before. Maybe my less commiting workflow fits better with how cubase handles CPU, sadly ableton has to stay more responsive (Hence the name Live) but sacrificing cpu performance :(. But man, really miss ableton sometimes with the amount of user content, the stock plugins, the drum rack, the group tracks that were also folder tracks, really accurate automation :(, maybe in the future. Thanks for the response!

    isn't it going to be slightly different each time you are building a new rack though? (unless you are building the exact rack everytime) If it takes ten minutes to build a new macro, that doesn't save any time.

    even though you use this tool to automate processes it feels to me like it became more complicated because of that. because you are outsourcing a bunch of events with magic numbers to this application instead of describing to it the purpose that you seeked for. and that makes a little bit of a difference because the workflow might change in an update of ableton, so then it would do soemthing different, unpredictable. and also it is just not a very descriptive way of thinking about the process in general. kind of a mental hurdle. I'd instead say it is the responsibility of the DAW developers to make sure the user doesn't have to use a tool like this to accomplish important tasks. and these fancy mudpie randomizations become increasingly important in modern sounddesign it seems

    • @BrianRivlin
      @BrianRivlin  6 месяцев назад +1

      Fair point But in my experience of doing this in multiple DAWs for almost 6 years now, I find it to be a one time set it and forget it.
      A new version of Ableton comes every 3 years or so. So I’m not worried about that.
      If this doesn’t fit your workflow well that’s totally ok.
      I find it extremely useful and that’s great for me.
      Doesn’t mean I’m right. Just means that I found something that I like.
