You can set automations to all tracks. Depends on which fader you moved. Global should appear as automation in arrangement view. If you tried to automate the clip volume only it will appear in clip editing window
Mind blown completely. I sometimes feel like I should go through all the basics for like 2 months straight before attempting anything else. Ableton never ceases to surprise me.
Believe or not but after using Live for 6+ years I also discover a few things here and there at least once a month 😂. The version I used here is 12 beta and honestly I barely scratched the surface of things they added
@locksh I feel exactly the same way haha, I already wasted my free 2 months by doing this haha, but I rather learn these tricks first before I get serious
lol ironically I already knew his “advanced” tip about directly editing values, but I did NOT know about his “beginner” trick of using the pins on the sides, top, bottom to manipulate the entire envelope of automation! 😂😂
I recently started using live again after working with Bitwig for the last years. and while a love the design of Ableton as well as the stock plugins, the arranger and the audio and midi-editing always seemed much less intuitive to me than the way Bitwig handles things. Your tips are absolute gold to get up to speed in live. Good luck with your channel!
By the way man, I nearly missed your videos because of the clickbaity titles and screenshots. I know its hard to find the favor of the almighty algorithm-god but maybe the sweet spot is a bit toned down. Anyway, godspeed to you
@@Zdrewe A lot of things make much more intuitive sense in Bitwig, to me switching some years ago was really a breath of fresh air, and the modulation options and the grid are insane. But I still find it easier to create good and professional sounding music fast in Ableton. And the color theme of Bitwig is still unattractive to my eyes.
Thanks! That’s actually a good one but funny thing is that you can easily disarm track recoding but auto arm selected tracks needs a script (or Push) 😂
Totally forgot to mention that, as well as the fact that you can just press B and draw automation line as fancy and smooth as you want. Thanks for your comment! 🙏
Really great video brother, But FL's automation clips aren't ugly as you think, it's so freakin powerful than the ableton's one. U can get so many control over the curves values and also it has a tons of features. I use Ableton Live, Reaper, Cubase & FL Studio but I really like the FL for automation, you can warp the shape from audio, link multiple parameters to same automation clips, you can invert it too. Also there's a lot of articulation tools for manipulating automation. And where have you been in these days?
Hahaha honestly bro, it’s just my “inside joke”. I started my production journey with Fruity Loops 7 and been a heavy FL user till 2013. I just don’t like the way how automation clips look in FL 😂. Truth is that you can do pretty much the same in every single DAW, it’s just more or less hidden and accessible. I was posting 3 times a week on IG Reels since my last video here dropped but I decided to finally focus on RUclips in 2024 and beyond 😉
Great stuff! Thanks! Could you please tell how to start recording from specific point (e.g. from position of the marker)? At mine it always starts at the beggining ot the project.
in FL studio you can select the type of automation you want instead of drawing it (like a wave shape), can you do that in ableton? and also how do you link different MIDI patterns say a chord and bass to use the same automation clip?
As I showed in the video, once you right click you can also add predefined curves (shapes). To answer the 2nd question - you don’t need to link anything. Simply copy and paste automation from chords to bass, even for different parameters and effects (I think i also showed this in the video)
Exactly, plus those are different sounds layered together. Layering like that can be done with Instrument rack with one MIDI signal although I prefer working with separate tracks
Nice tutorial. Look up how UI / UX works, maybe you'll realize why Ableton's UX is trash, which ultimately makes using Ableton's automation a pain to use. (I use Ableton primarily also. Don't care how long you've used FL studio.)
I’m not qualified enough to dig into UI things but after working in FL, Cubase, Studio One and finally Live I find our DAW the most flexible and fun to use when it comes to automation. Me referring to “ugly automation clips” is actually pure stylistic and workflow choice. Pretty sure there are some hacks and tricks to make it prettier as well as some other DAWs that work more efficiently to someone.
you just changed my life with simplify envelope 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hahaha I know, that’s the simplest but the most useful trick I learned about 😂
I was thinking the same thing haha

OMG ive never noticed the "simplify envelope" in the menu. Life saver!
The way you teach music production is just spot on my vibe when I’m in the studio! 😂 love these videos!
Happy to hear that brother 🙏 have fun around here and in your studio as well 😉

Concise, great info, no fluff, nice humor. Keep it up!
Best automation tutorial ever made!! Nice work dude
Thanks! 🙏 glad you like it!
I been watching all your videos... Absolute fire. Keep it up we need you dude
So so glad to hear that 🙏🙏
Best Ableton Videos by far!
Thanks a lot dude 🙏

I feel like I might need to look up Bitwig and see what’s so cool about it. I always felt like it’s a twin brother of Live. Thanks man 🙏

I got the answer to my question.
No worries but curious to know what was that question 🤔
@Zdrewe I was trying to automate on both x and y axis at the same time. So, i did that + sign and recorded it. 😬 I hope that makes sense. 🙏
@keshavkashyap166 oh got you and yes, it’s totally the right way to do this since + records every automation 💪
its good to see you again bro
Means a world man 🙏 it was a wild ride with my short form content this year but 2024 is all about RUclips gems 😉
You really should got more views! Your videeos are amazing!
Great tutorial pal, if you want to record automations you can also disarm the track recording
Thanks! That’s actually a good one but funny thing is that you can easily disarm track recoding but auto arm selected tracks needs a script (or Push) 😂
Omg - this was so helpful!
Thanks 🙏
I see you’ve used this trick and a lot of other people do too but holding ALT and dragging on a modulation gives it a smooth curve as well 🙂
Totally forgot to mention that, as well as the fact that you can just press B and draw automation line as fancy and smooth as you want. Thanks for your comment! 🙏
4:40 mapping the filter cutoff to the macro knob would surely be more efficient than duplicating the automation land
Just what I was looking for. Thx for sharing 🙏
love this guy underrated youtuber fr
Would not call myself a RUclipsr since I’m just starting out but really really appreciate that 🙏🙏
Awesome stuff!
Thanks a lot 🙏
very cool. Thats what im lookin for. Thanks man
Glad I could help 🙏

Great! Subscribed!
Thanks my friend, means a world 🙏
Exactly what I was looking for. New Level Opened 😅
Glad to hear that! Automations are the key 💎
super helpful thank you
Most welcome brother 🙏
always giving gems 💎💎 welcome back to YT bro
Good to see you here as well bro! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
Great stuff! Thanks! Could you please tell how to start recording from specific point (e.g. from position of the marker)? At mine it always starts at the beggining ot the project.
Welcome back sir
The Eagle has landed 🫡 thanks for going though my Ableton Live gibberish J 😅
Thanks for sharing, great video.
You’re most welcome Ivan! Glad you enjoyed the vid 🙏
Great video! Thanks!
Glad you like it 🙏
Thanks dude!!
No worries man! Glad you enjoyed the vid 🙏
super informative.
Thanks man🤝🫡
what this effect called 2:05
Thank you so much
You're most welcome! 🫡
Thank you for the video. Why Are FL automation Clips Bad?
Groundbreaking!!
Brilliant
amazing, thank you!!!
Let’s go🔥😎
Can always count on you bro 🤝 (even when I’m clearly offending FL Studio 😂)

Good !
Hey. Could you tell me what kind of beautiful skin you used in serum? :)
Look for Feed Me Serum Skin 😉
@@ZdreweOk, thanks :)
Holy shit. I had to just open Ableton and get my mind blown
Our good guy Ableton has a lot of gems under the hood 😎
What serum skin is that?
Look for “Feed Me Serum Skin” 😉
I do not know what the shortcut is to make the automation lines appear
Just click A on your keyboard (but make sure that MIDI to computer keyboard is turned off)
@@Zdrewe thanks yeah every time I clicked A, it would just play my midi piano
@@jaredalvarez890 press "M" to turn on/off the keyboard piano. Turn it off, then press "A"
Why 3 midi channels with the same chords, tho? Are they an octave higher or downer?
Exactly, plus those are different sounds layered together. Layering like that can be done with Instrument rack with one MIDI signal although I prefer working with separate tracks
hack but no shaper box..
No worries, for a volume automation like that you can use other plugins like LFO tool or even stock Autopan
nice
Thanks for watching my man! 🙏🙏
Now that’s 12 talking 🎉
WHAT A VID

im just waiting to Ableton come with AI tools
Yuck, they better be essential
Thanks, good tips.
