I love how you show vulnerability by saying "I'm scared" and things like that cause honestly we all feel like this during art process, to see a great artist show this type of insecurity is very comforting
I love how it's basically a couple of colours yet you're able to bring out such interesting and vibrant shapes in the face. Such a great video so far!!
The last drawing of the black woman….I was on the edge of my seat. I wanted to see you go all the way and go darker with her skin, but she looked great and I thought you did an excellent job.
I agree with you, but she's also working with pastels and it would be harder to go deeper without making her gray or "washed" out in a way.. if that makes sense? Dark pastel just defeats the purpose of "pastel" I feel although she did an amazing and stunning job, she could've chosen either a diff reference photo, orr even popped in with a more saturated marker rather than keeping it completely pastel? Idk, stunning work either way!
Ohuhu has "marker pads" its pretty much a flexible peice of "plastic" essentially the same material as folder pages in notebooks, and its meant to be placed under your working page to prevent bleeding!
I always thought it would be difficult to have a marker portrait without a full scope of colours. I've tried a limited palette of two and this has shown me what I haven't been doing right. Thank you for this
I have never felt so inspired by an art video before. It made me really put my pen down and watch instead of using the video as background noise as I usually do. It's a really great video and I'm so excited to watch more of your videos in the future!!
omg I really love this, watching your process in real time is really helpful as someone who’s trying to learn more :D and your art is just gorgeous, that second portrait really jumps out at you ✨ the way you pick apart value and simplify shapes is just amazing!! like i’m sure you’ve put so much time and practice (like SO SO much) into being able to pull out those components of portraits so effortlessly (or at least it appears effortless to the audience :) thank you for the awesome videos and for sharing your art ✨
I love how easy it looks and that you like your little imperfections and make them perfect just by making them pop out a little more. You craeted a awesome style just with a couple of basic pens and colours. It helped me as a beginner to be more brave and start doing something
this is the first video ive watched of yours and i love that you explained your thought process as you sketched! I have a hard time knowing what to do when blocking out shadows but how you explained your process helped me a lot
the last reference i drew her before like a reference for my drawing i don't think i can even be better then this and the second drawing feel like more beautiful then the reference itself just awesome
The color schemes you used and the inking somewhat reminded me of a manga called "Veil" by Kotteri, the artstyle is made mostly of lines and simple color schemes, and it still conveys a lot of detail somehow, just like your drawings (GOURGEOUS btw, i always feel inspired to try and use more colors because of your videos ❤)
Fear of doing Mistakes… doing them is always a thing of progress in doing something so don’t have fear … it’s a progress of learning something… at the end you did well with all the curls in the last portrait 😊
I have the 216 colors of ohuhu honolulu markers and I LOVEE them so much, I just with they had more skin tones and specifically really light skin tones 😋
This was so fun to watch! They turned out absolutely beautiful. You mentioned that you don't want them to seem lazy and I don't think anyone would ever say that about your amazing art!
❤❤❤the markers are very good and went on well on your sketch book…that second portrait did look like Charlize Theron when she was younger just loved your vibe and honesty in the process
Your use of fineliners is a lot more like how I use them these days. I used to be very about sharp, comic style clean lines but these days I use them more as an accent to bring the image forward.
it makes me happy to see a fellow artist draw in a similar art style like I do, capturing the characters expression and essence but not so much that its almost a picture perfect copy. Im happy to know Im not the only one and I feel less insecure about my art ❤
Excelente! Que valor para soltarte y solo pintar yo lo intente y le tenía pavor a empezar a pintar con los marcadores y un jugar y divertirme saludos y gracias!
Hi, I wonder - since I haven't successfully found a paper yes where markers do not bleed through - What paper do you recommend - and can it take markers without bleeding through??
can i ask for some advise? im sarting to learn how to draw people and it hard and ive been wasting tons of papers so do you think if a practice more and it drawing digitally on an ipad will that be better? so i wont waste any of my sketchbooks or papers?😭
Personally i actually like keeping a record of my practice/"bad" drawings in the form of a sketchbook since it allows me to flip back and see the progress I've made! I used to sketch digitally all the time too but it's harder to keep track for me with the file naming conventions and general lack of organization skills X'D I think future you will be happy to look back at some of those older sketchbooks/papers!
Lovely! Well thought out and interesting to watch, as usual ❤ On a side note which is neither here nor there, but Ohuhu markers make me think of DrawingWiffWaffles.. Missing Rin and her creativity, I hope she is okay and comes back soon😢
Does the sketchbook have no perforation? I love their sketchbooks, and they all have perforated pages. I’d love one without, if that’s where they’re going ;)
For anyone wondering, it appears Ohuhu is a US based company, at least Google says they're headquartered in Missouri, for those not wanting to support a Chinese company.
I usually have them up on my online shop! I have it closed for now as I prepare a big shop update! It'll be back up and running before Black Friday! :) Thank you for your interest!
came here from your other ohuhu sketching vid of amandla stenberg and was hopeful about your choice to do a darkskinned black person, but ultimately disappointed. There are already so few artists who are actually willing to do variety and include diverse models, so to realize that even with your attempts to be inclusive, the result is still whitewashing and texturist is incredibly disappointing. Please take time to learn how to draw non-white people, including all of their features, hair textures, and varying skin tones! It's embarassing!
I love how you show vulnerability by saying "I'm scared" and things like that cause honestly we all feel like this during art process, to see a great artist show this type of insecurity is very comforting

I love how you go in with so self doubt and then you hype yourself up as you along. It’s inspiring to me.
Your color selection in every video is amazing 😊🥹
I love the vibrant colour combos, this is such a fun way to create portraits! 😍

That combination of green and yellow is SO pleasing.

I’m a fine liner guy usually but my girlfriends mum got me some markers for Xmas and I am hooked. Best gift ever 😂
This was not only super inspiring but also super relaxing to watch! ❤
the last one is gorgeous, those colors work so well together!
this is the first video ive watched of yours and i love that you explained your thought process as you sketched! I have a hard time knowing what to do when blocking out shadows but how you explained your process helped me a lot
The last one is super pretty!!! That pastel set sure comes in handy since the regular sets have super saturated bright colors
Wow! This was so satisfying to watch. Your process is so beautiful 🤩
the last reference i drew her before like a reference for my drawing i don't think i can even be better then this and the second drawing feel like more beautiful then the reference itself just awesome
I always enjoy watching how you sketch with markers and colored pencils. It's freeing and relaxing and the colors are just lovely. Big fan!
Her nails are SO pretty
Thnx for the video❤
This was such a pleasing video to watch! Inspired me to break out my markers and get sketching again!
I could watch this kind of portrait sketching all day, I guess I will have to give it a try myself after this
Your process feels very natural. I always loved the way you like decide which is which, have your own doubt in the process but do it anyway.
I always loved your art, btw.
this painting is a testament to artistic excellence

Lol😂 I love your “hmmm. Well let’s just go for it”. The shadows!
Your portrait construction is simply amazing,Chris!❤
You have such a beautiful understanding of planes and your art is super inspiring!!!!
You snapped OFF on this and this got me so HYPED UP! Fantastic work and keep rockin it
i would love to see more of your watercolor journey!! there is something beautiful about your watercolor paintings!! big fan, lovely video!!
😮Your facial anatomy skills are always so impressive
Your colour choices are always so gorgeous. A truly amazing artist. Thank you for so generously sharing.
This was so helpful the last one is impressive. Thank you so much for this !!!

Yeyiii 💃 love it when my favorite artists use media am currently learning to use ♥
i love when that happens too hehe :3
This was so fun to watch! They turned out absolutely beautiful. You mentioned that you don't want them to seem lazy and I don't think anyone would ever say that about your amazing art!
Love hearing your thought process! Now I need these markers😭
I love how you draw the eyes!!!, I strugle to draw them looking deep
I keep waiting for a sketchbook tour and you keep starting new sketchbooks🤦🏾♀️❤
❤❤❤the markers are very good and went on well on your sketch book…that second portrait did look like Charlize Theron when she was younger just loved your vibe and honesty in the process

Very nice style
this was really good ❤ especially how you captured the last portrait. Dope
Excelente! Que valor para soltarte y solo pintar yo lo intente y le tenía pavor a empezar a pintar con los marcadores y un jugar y divertirme saludos y gracias!
Love the color choices of the third portrait!
I love love love your style!!!
Just watched the first.. so handsome 😍
OMG it's beautiful 😭💖
That orange on the second drawing makes me want sherbet
so bad!
We love Ohuhu. Especially now that they have the refill ink!!
I like them so much!!❤❤ Chris you are amazing!!
On the first portrait what was the color you used for purple?
In choosing the colors for this approach is it best to stick with complimentary colors?
Lovely Chris!
I want the Honolulu set SO BADLY For so long now!
super pretty drawings💗💗💗💗
I love how you talk to yourself!
Thos are really pretty! But im curious, why are you lifting your pen all the time? Does this make a difference in lines?
Hi, I wonder - since I haven't successfully found a paper yes where markers do not bleed through - What paper do you recommend - and can it take markers without bleeding through??
Thicker ones like the one in the video..watercolor paper..Bristol..drawing pads for markers..just check for the heavier ones
Do you evet consider selling your page of faces for practice for those of use with little to no drawing skills?
To b new markers, those seemed so dry. I like juicy markers soo . ❤
impressive 😮 so good 👌
Beautiful 🤩
Thanks for sharing

It's just fun to say, "Ohuhu Honolulu."
Phenomenal❤
Does the sketchbook have no perforation? I love their sketchbooks, and they all have perforated pages. I’d love one without, if that’s where they’re going ;)
I looked super close for a bit and they are perforated! That's something i struggle with bc I'm too impulsive not to tear them out 🥲
sorry for the super late reply, but the pages in this are perforated!
Love it
I don’t know why but this makes me sleepy I’m literally dossing oof is that normal 😂
so nice ❤😍
Second reference looks like coral from hunger games 😅
i love you 😞+ why me cry💔
For anyone wondering, it appears Ohuhu is a US based company, at least Google says they're headquartered in Missouri, for those not wanting to support a Chinese company.

I usually have them up on my online shop! I have it closed for now as I prepare a big shop update! It'll be back up and running before Black Friday! :) Thank you for your interest!
Awesome ..thank you!
Just bought it today 🤗….can’t wait …Thank you!
It does kinda look like a young version of Charlize 😂🇿🇦
So true...😅
El último dibujo tenía mucho potencial por la tonalidad de piel y luces pero no lo supiste hacer
Are you a beginner?
