"Without being too active with the hands". How loose are your wrists/arms Ian? Are they pretty passive or do you have to feel like you're turning your wrists over at impact?
Excellent question, obviously through impact the hands will be moving through a large ranges of movement. What I am attempting to reference with the word ‘passive’ is a player working towards avoiding last minute adjustments and making sure the ranges of movement the wrists go through are not overly excessive. ‘Feel
‘Feels’are all specific to the individual so difficult to clarify precisely what each person would need to feel for them. If it does seem like an extreme move in turning the hands over then it is definitely worth checking movement earlier in the swing. For most players I work towards them already being in a good position in the delivery position so they can just turn through and add speed.
@@IanMellorGolf Yes, that's what I have been doing recently. When I unwind my torso as hard as I can in the downswing, I flush the ball BUT oftentimes I will pull hook it. Does this mean my grip may be too strong? I am not turning my hands over at all at impact; just turning through with my body.
Ideally I just want to rotate as hard as I can without worrying about pull hooking it - should I weaken my grip and try to go for a more fade type shot shape? I am a drawer of the ball. My grip is fairly neutral (I think).
Going through some of the channel stuff and just saw this feedback. I am hoping by now that you have worked this out! If not consider from a timing stand point check that you are not firing the lower body and then being in too much right bend hanging back with the upper. This would shift the path a good amount to the right and lead to more pushes or hooks.
One of the best tips. Thank you so much ❤
Quality content, as always. And now presented with a quality beard.😉
Thanks for the feedback on the content and the beard trim 😀. Very pleased you are enjoying the channel.
