One of the most informative videos on RUclips. I’m working through the passive release match up and fighting my old pattern. Understanding what the wrists need to do through the strike has never been better explained than it is here. Love it.
Fantastic!! Pair up the hand/wrist action with an elevated lead elbow through the strike. Can’t do this with a lead shoulder that’s moving into excess extension 🙏

I know the positions are exaggerated for the purpose of getting your head around them and your body prepared for them but it would be nice to see a super slow motion of a full speed swing and see the actual positions come together. This stuff is awesome! Thank you!!
This is a super cool video. There is a lot in this one to digest. For me personally, working on this, I cannot focus on trying to supinate the trail wrist. Focusing on feeling the shaft drop below the plane in transition (Fig 8 drill) and accentuating the drop gets the trailing arm supinating more. The more the shaft drops, the more the hand supinates, and the more I 'feel' that I can and want to rotate my chest. Systems baby !! 🙂

Been playing hard now for 5 years and watched a lot of instruction and lessons. Found your channel for a week and no one explains stuff like you do. Brilliant stuff. For me, I found I'm a guy that naturally fits the stable face system and what I was missing was that right wrist supination. I could never figure out how to release the club without rotating the face. I have to feel a lot of right wrist supination, but now I finally feel what the players meant when they said "I can't release it fast enough". Hoping to save up and get your video system series. More epiphanies in the last week than in the last 2 years.
This is a Ford vs Ferrari question. High Torque vs High Rev. They both have their place! Question: To crack a whip do I feed it more whip around the corner? Or do I slow the handle down? It's all Energy... That's all it is! Your water analogy coming out the club is a good one. Been there done that. If I could open a valve to let the water out at impact I would dump it all out on the ball. I see no reason to carry water beyond Impact. The club will continue onward but I would hope to have released my load. Proximal vs Distal relationships. If at address you have the club gripped Square to your intended line of flight and keep it Square to YOU then dumping all of your leveraged Energy on the Ball will send it where you want.. Keep up the Great work Gents.
Great video. Very informative. I tend to be a player that needs a high rate of face rotation, do you have specific videos to optimize that swing pattern?
it's interesting to me that the "turn down" action of the hands is still a powerful force and important for timing in a "body" swing. The chest may be the engine, but the hands are always the steering wheel. At least in terms of my feels :)
that combination of ulnar/suppination of the trail hand/arm is so interesting. I've never heard it discussed like you guys do. I've tried to work it into some practice sessions, and it feels like a missing piece of the rotational puzzle for sure. It goes very nicely with rib sway and lead arm internal rotation/abduction through transition!
thats 100% me, always struggled to draw the ball, close the face, hood the face, flexion of lead wrist, extension of trail wrist, hit from inside, no chance...this explains why... thanks guys. if i want to draw it, i have to roll the forearms, or thats my feel
Loved this video. My favourite shut face rotator to watch is Cam Smith - such an extremely passive release. Would you have any general tips toward developing this type of swing? Assuming no physical limitations. I am guilty of being the slight draw bias, higher face rotation, high ball flight, "hitter" and have been trying to become more of a "swinger". 🙏
Trail wrist supination seems like a mental key for understanding how a baseball-esque swing would actually hit the ball (and not just fly over it). Correct?
I concur with regards to this being above the rest of RUclips instructional videos. I have implemented these movements and I have seen some improvements in my ball striking However, as a 68 year old man, I seem to be experiencing some pain issues after the game. Is the swing meant for youngsters? Tubane Rep of South Africa
@@tubanejosephmokoena593 super interesting! Usually happens based on too much scap retraction throughout swing. A more neutral biased scap should help alleviate a lot of that ache. If that is not the case, probably need to look at breaking up some of that tissue/fascia in the scap region. When you unload the club there is a heavy amount of tissue stretch in that area based on the unload of the club (scaps with both heavily protract). Can be incredibly painful when those lines tear.
I love your videos so much, genuine gold. If supination is important in the rotational body match, in the pelvic type driven match demonstrated, what is the dominant movement in comparison with that release?

For the ‘Closed-Face, More body rotation’ matchup, is there trail arm extension or are we trying to keep that trail arm angle through impact? Or is there just SOME degree of release of that angle in trail but not fully released at impact?

Just to confirm: were you guys inferring that the more face rotation type release could be more detrimental to your body’s health than the less face rotation/more body rotation release? Asking from a guy with limited hip mobility and tendency for low-back pain…

It’s not necessarily the release that causes the back pain, but the body moves that generally correspond with that. And yes, not great as far as health is concerned 🙏
