This is one of the most overlooked and fun games in the pac man series. I have always enjoyed this game but like Rodney Dangerfield it seems to get no respect.

Actually this is a great game, but because it is difficult to control since PacMan moves seems faster and not as responsive as the original, Super PacMan is not so popular as classic PacMan and Ms. PacMan.

I was actually looking forward to seeing an hour and 46 minute game of Super Pac Man as I expected this to be a world record. Once you started cheating, I did not care anymore.
I’ll defend by saying, it’s neat seeing the monster blue time, specially unexpectedly longer blue time on the Apple board near stage 80. And the way stage 99 rows over to stage zero and stage zero continues to stage one
I have an all original, one at one. It's as good as brand new. It's a 1982, I still have it set on quarters and same difficulty setting as you would find in an arcade. Galaga is next
Best game of all old time video games. I was very good am still am good at this game. People used to pile up watching me play at the arcade and watch me kick an ass on one quarter for about 1.5 hours- no joke.
The player doesn’t seem to know how this game works. When you’re in giant super mode, you pretty much can’t die and you can eat the pink walls. You don’t even need keys when you’re super. And when you’re super and you eat a pink energizer, your super time extends. So the name of the game is to eat a green energizer, pulverize the board until you get to a pink energizer and extend your super mode...and try to spend the entire board time in super mode as you clear the board of fruit. Try to not chase blue ghosts.
Fun fact: this is the true sequel to Pac-Man. Mrs. Pac-Man was actually created by Pac-Man‘s American Distribution company Midway because they got impatient with Namco releasing this game

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. From my age, you can tell that I didn't yet have savvy, when it came to video games, when this came out. Even at 50 in 2023, I STILL never figured out, what was the key to getting the "big points," 2000 or 5000, and that "extended bell," when you ate that center star?
At 12:27, all of the ghosts quaked at once. I think this happened because Pacman just barely came close to running into the ghost, but he luckily got away.

I had no idea that this existed until a few minutes ago. I saw a tour of a new arcade, which has 4 variants of Pacman - but not only bloody Gauntlet cabinet.
i thought it was strange that in pac-man the last 2 bonus items were a key and lock and now in this game they are used as tools to get powerups. that might hint at pac-man originally having the powerups hidden behind gates thing before this game.
i got it on my phone along with all the other video games they had playing on mame, good luck finding that rom though because dmca made a lot of sites pull it down luckily i got my roms before they became a problem, lol !

I play this on an emulator called mame. There are options change the amount of lives and the point intervals when they occur. I assume he's using an emulator and he turned demo mode on.

Only tangentially related question but this unfamiliar game made me wonder many things which ultimately lead me to this point, why do many arcade games at boot/startup or similar factory default settings, seem to have a default high-score total point tabulation that is disproportionately easy to eclipse? Is it to encourage first finders to bite thinking they can represent their skill, or is it to not discourage less familiar players effectively giving them a sense of accomplishment even if not really actually good? What do you think?
The version of Super Pacman that came with the Ms. pacman Countercade deletes the intermission after the mushroom maze and goes straight into the bell maze and I usually lose all my players there.
on certain mazes on pac man for ipad there is a special round where you try to eat all of the fruit as quickly as possible to get alot of score and usially at least 1 extra life

While the Super Pellet is still active, Pacman can also grab the Power Pellet to last the Super Pellet Power Up longer which is very useful!

The symbols on the left and the right of the star: if you eat the star when the symbols match, you get the big points.

First time I saw this when I was a kid was at a locat TG&Y Store. I remember it because at 11, I only had 1 quarter lol.

Once you eat your Super Pellet, you don't need the key to open the maze, you can eat your way through it. Just sayin

Everybody used to kick this arcade game at the Elgin skating rink because it made a bunch if squares appear on the screen for about 2 seconds.
This and Pac n Pal are so weird but I love playing them anyway

Does spm have a kill screen? mame options don’t allow rack testing that I know of.
It always disappointed me how the maze in this game never changed.
