This game has 255 levels, afterwards the 256th round is a killscreen in which an enemy is placed on top of the player automatically killing him, thus making the round unplayable.
I've done it on one credit. It took me around 5 and a half hours to do. It is a drag once you get to the slowdown levels, which is round 136, because you want to get the points, but the enemies move extremely slow when traveling through the dirt. The speed picks up little by little once you get towards the end.
For a conceptually simple premise this game was extraordinarily hypnotic.I just watched this for 15 minutes without realizing it and had to tear myself away.
Most comments talk about Stranger Things. I remember when I was little that when I went to the bowling alley with my father and siblings we saw this game.

I joined a stranger things discord server because I thought they'd be into obscure stuff due to the subject matter of the show but they didn't even know what Earthbound was.

+etil hcir 1:52 He's 15 seconds into the game and already drops a rock on himself.. I don't think the video would have been much longer without the cheats.
MrBeard17 lol your comment cracked me up just now. I understand what you mean with the cheats and it helping you along while playing. But with a video of it, I don't see the purpose. But that's my own gaming style preference really.
One thing I always found interesting about Dig-Dug, when you inflate the enemies from the front it looks like you're inflating them via their bellybutton.
I remember playing this at Straw Hat Pizza in California in the 1980's. I remember all the sounds and noises like it was yesterday. This is painful watching you play though.
Anywhere past about the first 30 rounds looked almost impossible to do without dying, unless in cheat mode like here. But what's weird is (I think anyway) this game was still originally programmed to have over 100 rounds, even though it wasn't possible to get there

Nice Game,i remember i play this on an arcade/gaming machine. Cause my uncle has this arcade machines in his pub. He got Mario Bros + Ghost Driver(or what the name was)too. And i remember he has a donkey kong machine. Hopefully he dont sell these machines ;)
I played this game on windows 98 but the sound effects were not the same. The music was different (Or not present at all) and there was a sound effect which sounded like blowing up a balloon when you hit enemies. And when they died there was a bursting sound effect.
i seriously wish dig dug had more games i mean there was “dig dug 2, dig dug arcade arrangement and dig dug arrangement remastered version” THOSE ARE ALL I KNOW wait there was also dig dug digging strike BUT YEA THATS ALL I KNOW.
Fun fact: After beating level 255 (55 in the game), you go to level 256 (0), in which the game gets crazy and the character gets put in a Pooka, which causes a definitive death and game over.
Strange Things does such a shitty job with historical research. You can’t entertain MADMAX as your name in Dig Dug. Hell, most ‘80s arcades only allowed initials and you’d think everyone know this, yet the idiots at Stranger Things didn’t.
Oh man. I absolutely loved playing this game on my gameboy advance when I was a kid. I had so much fun
Holy shit same dude. I had a namco arcade pack for the gameboy and played this, Ms. Pac Man and Galaga all day long

I like how the music plays only when he’s running
I love this game when I was like 6

So I remember 4 games coming on the computer from factory.. windows 96 / 97/ 98 .... what were the other games.. pac-man, the racing game, dig dug
Im 12 and these games are the reason im a 80s person i wish I was born back then
A nice chilled out game of Dig Dug. NO STRESS!
This arcade game is part of Namco Museum.
This is absolutely idiotic game but absolutely addictive. Brings back sweet memories.
I always loved how the last bad guy trys to do a runner
Most comments talk about Stranger Things. I remember when I was little that when I went to the bowling alley with my father and siblings we saw this game.
They had this game at my local arcade in Brooklyn back in the 80s. I still live in Brooklyn, but in a different part.

I didn't even know you could get crushed by a rock in this 🎮

I first played this in 2001 via the Namco Collection on the PS2.
I played boulderdash first then repton and didn't know about this game until recently. This looks like it invented the genre.
Hacia como 33 años que no veía este juego de arcade. Era mi favorito.

Silly, but cute game 😋❤️
I didn’t play this on any like retro console. But I used to play it on my ps3 since I had the Namco Arcade Game. So I do feel some nostalgia.
The mix of music and need to get to high levels makes this game addicting.
