Quick update: I have swapped the gossip shadow for Geomathmech Final Sigma. I’m still testing but it massively helps the trap matchup so for (eg) combo 6 instead of going for the M7 play you could make Final Sigma instead which is very difficult for trap decks to deal with and will buy you time to start clearing off backrow. Final Sigma also pairs well with Utopia Beyond as it deals double battle damage making it 6000 when Beyond zeroes the atk.
I wonder if a 1 of Mathmech Equation would be worth running against backrow heavy decks/meta. Just in case they manage to out Sigma and you just summon him back with Equation which Sigma searches when destroyed, and puts him at 4k atk lmao
@@AshinaNoble thing is when I summon final sigma he usually doesn’t leave the field at all and if he does it’s by contact fusion/kaiju neither of which would trigger the search. Trap decks almost never have a way to get rid of it unless they solemn the summon - they just can’t put enough bodies on board to make a borrelsword fast enough. Combo would usually deal with it by just beating over it but if they’ve been able to construct a board and kill sigma, I’ve probably lost already; if I’ve forced an extremely inconvenient combo route because they had to deal with sigma, then if I have enough follow up it’s probably an easy win
This Video is awesome! Super helpful for those trying to get into the deck (me included)! I'd love to see a video of combos that play around certain handtraps, that would be sick!
Just got back into the game not too long ago during the megatins and picked up a lot of vw cards and made the budget deck. Watched many deck profiles and how to play the deck but this one has to be the best one by far. Thanks for helping me improve my play with additional plays I didn’t know I could continue doing
Nice,I finally found someone that is really funny to watch except cali eff.I like how you are really chill, also big respect for reading all of the comments, keep up the good work.👍
Thanks for the basic combo introductions... I picked up VW as my first competitive deck cuz it is the closest thing to the only deck i play and love "D/D/D"... Also crystal wing is bae

This is my first competitive deck and this video helped me out so much to understand this deck.! Will you do a follow up video doing turn 3 and 4.? That would be super helpful
Hi, nice video i'm finding it really helpful and well made! I was wondering if you could edit the video and add some time stamps to find the different combos more easily
Nice video, sometimes (depending if i have another card to set and trigger Ultimaya) I try to play around veiler/imperm by placing chuche before Ultimaya, so u can pop it and protect it. At 38:15 u could also active Xuanwu in gy to ss any vw and chain e-tele so u dont have to discard and get a free monster if u need it, it doesnt come alot, but is useful to know.
If I’m not wrong I think e tele was my last card in hand so whether I activate it or discard it I’m still using it and i can’t make anything else on board either way. I actually discuss the techs to dodge imperm/veiler in my latest video - i kinda forgot with all the info to mention it here.
I’m sure you’ve considered it but I’m really enjoying putting Totem Bird on some end boards to deal with main deck spells and traps like LS/Cosmic/Twin, Crossout etc. Great vid bud 👌
I tested it but honestly kinda like Hope harbinger I feel like it’s a weaker negate. With combo being way more prevalent this format I think blind making caliga Crystal is always safer. Games 2/3 I tend to sit behind final sigma vs trap decks which in 90% of cases is more than enough
@@EdisonLocalsMK haha yeah damn that would be an ideal hand. Issue is I don’t really have space in my Ex deck to run something I only bring out in best case scenarios, if I had the space I’d consider it even though I tend to prefer playing a more conservative end board and holding onto combo pieces to maximise follow up and OTK potential turn 3
On test hand two, there is a way to make Shenshen + Tzolkin by summoning Shenshen first. Something to think about if Shenshen is more important in the matchup.
@@Danko_Sukka mb I couldn’t remember that I had access to qinglong in that test hand and didn’t watch it over but yeh you could do that but that’s playing into nib. To clarify for others reading: you could synchro Shenshen first, then search roshi and summon back kirin to make tzolkin (first negating your own Shenshen with qinglong).
I have seen lists running both and I’m not particularly a fan because game 1 blind caliga Crystal is almost always the safer option and the extra deck is already very tight
Question, under Caliga, does Gigi effect in EP allow nibiru to chain without crystal wing being able to activate? (Gigi being the 1 effect after Caliga on board) I’m assuming not, but idk why
@@pangvang8298 yep we’re safe after end of main. Suppose that weren’t the case though you’re still good. Jiji’s summon effect and add back are all part of the same 1 effect, just the add back part of it occurs at a different time. So in end phase when you get to add back, that’s not actually a monster effect activating (your opponent cannot negate Jiji adding back in end phase if the summon was successful because they are the same effect). Hence it doesn’t count towards caliga and your crystal wing is still live.
You stick to the combos and dont go all over the place like some other videos, thank you (Update: some of these combos dont feel feasible, requiring up to 4 cards with purpose to discard or not?)
Opening hands are 5 cards so requiring 2 combo pieces + discards is actually a pretty generic hand and very normal for this deck. Past turn 1, combo lines will almost never follow the more linear routes I've discussed because both players will have access to more choices (so essentially, all combos I've discussed focus on turn 1 potential plays). Virtual World isn't like other combo decks, there isn't a set combo route so you will always use all resources available to combo as best as possible. For combos which I've displayed requiring 3 cards and a discard, consider those the "best case" scenarios. A lot of players mess up with the best hands by not seeing the full potential of the cards they've drawn hence why I thought it useful to share a range of combos. Hopefully that clears things up haha
Definitely. The core engine and pretty much all of the extra deck can be bought for less than £50 ish. Handtraps and staples will cost you the most but none of the combos require any of that so if you find some budget options and keep the ratios about the same all the combos are identical.
@@ghostoracle7409 with your build it does have some more expensive cards like lightning storm and droll, what budget items would you replace those with? I don't mind getting them but, would like to find a nice medium for value but, still get a similar result
@@jackesery8630 ill probably do a new format updated build soon. Storm isn’t that great currently actually (Cosmic better). Your side deck doesn’t have to be identical to mine, just as long as you have a similar ratio and have cards to deal with meta match ups that’s fine - and make sure you know exactly what you’re siding in each matchup.
Not until presale prices calm down 😂. Issue is enforcer conflicts with the caliga board (only 1 ef). You could argue that’s just another reason to run dragoon instead but seeing as we don’t have access to verte to guarantee getting dpe, if we don’t draw fusion destiny we’re ending on dragoon crystal which is much weaker than caliga (vs combo)
Caliga in the trap matchup is terrible, completely agree. In fact I've slightly edited my list and swapped gossip shadow for Final Sigma to strengthen that matchup. Vs combo its infinitely better than dragoon if setup correctly. If they have the outs like drnm/droplets/kaiju that'll hurt the dragoon just as much as caliga so no difference there, but if caliga is properly setup it forces combo decks to either just turn skip or play very suboptimal routes. I can qinglong, chuche or tribute over caliga which is plenty of ways of getting rid of it.
By representation trap decks aren’t that popular currently whilst combo is: Drytron can quite comfortably burn through Crystal + Dragoon negate but they’ll struggle a lot to out caliga. Same logic applies for most combo decks. Also usually I’ll need to use all cards in hand turn 1 (leaving Jiji add back in EP and sometimes another if I’m lucky) meaning the Dragoon discard cost leaves me with less follow up if I’m forced to discard a VW monster.
Ye so this an issue but every combo in every deck has chokes 🤷♂️. Keep in mind that combo 1 shows a very minimal setup with a decent hand. Also, if your opponent is bad and doesn’t shotgun veiler on ultimaya summon you can chain chuche to pop it (if you value crystal wing over caliga in that matchup).
@@ghostoracle7409 I try to get stardust on the field together with ultimaya. Often they'll try to veiler the ultimaya and not realise they can't target it because of the effect.
@@ghostoracle7409 you can always put a bamboozling on field first. They probably won't veiler it and it's usefull as a monster negate together with Crystal wing.
@@chairmanalfred8850 I’ve dropped gossip shadow for final sigma. Imo it’s pretty awful currently. To make both that and the standard end board you need a reaaally good hand and it’s an incredibly weak negate. Besides, ending on it with caliga is pointless.
