Sand Riding Sucks: Tenere 700 Kinkuna Beach Camping Adventure Part 2 - MVDBR Enduro

- In part 2, Steve and I hit some super soft sandy trails on the way to the beach at Kinkuna camp ground, but the struggle was totally worth it when we were rewarded with a perfect camp site. Perfect weather, a few drinks and a fire on the dunes. Had a good sleep with no sandflies, but the next day the real fun began. Support the channel by purchasing an MVDBR tee: gear.mvdbr.com

That beach campsite a well-deserved reward for tackling the sand traps! Remember, at least the landing is soft……until it isn’t🙁.
Yeah that one coming off the beach my leg nearly got caught between the bike and some roots, that would have smoked the pole 😬
After all the times you binned it on the sand I was half expecting you to go arse up halfway through that water crossing as well. That would’ve really made your day.
Someone got on the turps tooo much while camping on the beach me thinks 🤔😂
glad you made it home in one piece Josh 😁👌
keep well Mate 😉🍺
The stone's bit me a bit harder than usual mate haha cheers 😎
@@MVDBR yeah sometimes it will do that 😒😉
Thanks for the shirt shout out brother 🤙 As per usual perfect spot for a camp, pity about the sand . Hope Steve's on the mend wouldn't be a 2 day Mvdbr ride without out him . Cheers 🍻
No probs mate was a good idea 🎉👌
Hi I watch you Chanel regularly and enjoy your down to earth straight talk. Must say your sand riding looks about like my efforts. I live in South Africa
Hahaha cheers mate glad you like the videos. My dad's a saffa 👌
Fun fun, the pain we cause our selves riding lol thanks Josh for the reminder to stay away from sand.
Just hit it when ya not feeling like a pot of turds mate hahhaa cheers
Definitely one of the more memorable trips lol. That sunrise was so good.
Hopefully the next one will be less eventful.. or at least have less painful events 😁 Yeah that sunrise time lapse turned out better than I thought it would mate
Nice one Josh! Kinkuna's a big favourite of mine. Found that the campsites closer to the bundy end, are really nice with no mangroves and little to no rubbish as most people hit the woodgate end! Great videos mate, keep em coming!
That information would have been handy lol. We literally hit the beach and hmmm'd and haaa'd about which way to go then just went south for no particular reason. Cheers mate
its been a blast watching you ride the sand , we have heaps where im from , so yea you did pretty well on a bike bike like the T7 , good stuff , cheers steve / west Australia
Thanks mate yeah it went a lot better on the day before the hangover 😎
loving the sunrise! but yeah sand is definitely a buzz killer! more throttle helps!
More throttle + less cheap ginger wine 😁
Nothing worse than riding with a hangover, glad you and the bikes made it out!
Yeah no injuries on that day so we'll call it a win! Cheers Matt
Yes i did enjoy your struggle. 🤣🤣 i think this trip will go down in the MVDBR history books.
They all go down in the books mate that's what the channel is for 😁
We all have days like that😂
I’d probably be still in the sand as you were getting home.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone mate haha especially with a hangover. Cheers Andy 🍻
sand beach riding is aaawesome fun.. ride bum just on/off the back of the seat weight on the pegs & light on the bars.. 10psi in the back &.. youve already got the power
Deep soft said is tough I feel like you can’t ever get enough practice sweet vid Josh as usual 👍🤟
It's shit on a big heavy bike that's fully loaded that's for sure man!
Hey Josh! WOW! All that riding in the Fkn Sand...not for me...too old to keep picking up my bike...Another fantastic adventure and quality time out. Thanks for sharing, great production. I have learned some shit....David...Adelaide...Tiger 900GT & Scrambler.....nice....
You wouldn't drop it tho mate so no worries 🍻🤙 cheers.... nice 😎
@@MVDBR Thanks for your faith in my ability ....LOL....
What a gorgeous spot to camp minus the sand riding lol. Epic sunrise. We can do sand but definitely prefer to avoid it. Thanks for sharing your struggles we did enjoy it 😎
Maybe I should have aired down 🤤 hahaha cheers guys
Great effort! Cheers
🙏
Mad Sunrise Bro! Love it ❤ No Midgies even better!
Stacked it straight up 😅 yea ha! Life's good Brother 👍 another righteous moovie... 🇦🇺💯
So 2 stacks later and some anxious moments, you made it, the sand didn't exactly kick your arse, I think 14klm of sand after a big night would just about give anyone a hard time, well done Josh and Steve.. can't believe you eat that Mecca's shit when you got a most excellent bakery in Childers, right across the road to a lovely park with some top rate dunnies.... 🍻
@@holisticaustralia yeah shit we should have gone to the bakery I just CBF haha you know how it is when ya feel like turd 💩 Amazing how a hangover can affect ya riding so much hahaha cheers Juddy 🍻
@MVDBR Enduro always good to get home after a big one, must of been torture having to pick that bike out the sand, cheers back at ya Josh 🍻 beer sure taste good too!
I really must do some beach moto camping. Nice one Josh 🍻👍
It's good when there are no bities that's for sure 🍻 Cheers Jason
Nice work mate 👍
Thanks man 🍻
That campsite 👌👌👌👌👌
🙏🍻
Lower gear .Essential keep your feet on pegs . As soon as they leave the pegs you get pendulam effect.
What a crazy ride! Great scenery 😮 good video man 🎉
Cheers JD wonder how the MT would go in sand like that 🤔😵
@@MVDBR not sure I can’t imagine it would be good. The only thing I know for sure is that it would be loud 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 maybe we should go give it a go?
@@JDsMT09ADV can do 💪💪
There are some bikes made for sledding, but you'd still have to ride with luggage.
Not too many people talk about suspension adjustments for sand - even if you're on a plow.
Just send it
Ya mate did really well for a first time sand rider..well done in my opinion.👍
Also picked up one of your tees for the missus.
@@cliveparsons7674 I'm not sure but I think he may have ridden sand before, just not actually on a beach. Either way yeah he smashed it 🙏 Thanks for the support mate hope she likes the shirt 🤘
Nice ride mate! Sand bites us all regardless. Wicked camping spot, moonrise and sunrise was epic. West coast Vs East coast, same shit different time of the day! Luv it. 😎
Cheers mate glad someone appreciated the rest of the video not just the hangover sand struggles 😁
Man josh i dont think ive ever seen you struggle on a bike that sand was killer, wow what a spot though epic 😎👍
I think I was ok till that 2nd drop that's when the hangover really kicked in 😬 Haha cheers mate definitely a mint spot
@@MVDBR hangovers will do it, just trying to get the helmet on hurts 🤣👍
Cool spot J
🤙
Haha felt like watching one of my videos with all the offs and "F-ing ABS" comments.
😅🤦♂
i know the sand feeling after trying to cross the simpson
Yeah it's an official no from me on the Simpson now haha fuck that noise 😎
I know you told me there was so much sand but I didn’t think there was the last time I went in it was mostly water the whole way, like kilometres of water
I guess there wasn't THAT much there was a lot of hard pack in between but fuck it seemed like a lot that morning 😬
How is Steve doing now?
That was som3e super pretty trails in the sand... I'd be conflicted by the views vs hating riding sand! 😀
Stunning view to wake to 🙂
Must be pretty cool riding on a beach 🙂
.... unless you have a hangover hey Josh! 😉 that looked a struggle. I remember when out on some RN training, we were camping and I grabbed a kettle off the fire... totally forgot that it was a metal handle and full on grabbed it... dropped it pretty quickly, but my hand smelt like bacon for a few days and was pretty crispy, that stung a tad!
Think he's pretty much alright now mate thanks for asking 🤘 It was alright riding on the beach with a hangover just getting off the beach was shit 🤤 Hahaha mate how bad are burns my fingers were sore as fuck for ages that night luckily the booze numbed the pain a little!
@@MVDBR booze... cures (or causes) so many of life's issues!
@@HippoDrones 100% 😁
Wicked video mate 👍
Fkn soft sand... definitely the Achilles Heel on the big ADV bikes.
I ride sand every weekend on the enduro bikes...... piece of piss.
Take the big Africa Twin in the sand..... and it's just not fkn enjoyable in big stints.
It's hard work for sure, and yeah I used to love it on the 500. The heavy bike seems to follow the ruts a lot more fuckin thing just sinks in too much. Cheers man 🤘
What a mint spot, when are we seeing the t7 Simpson trip!
Lol nah yeah nah
@@MVDBR yeah nah yeah! I’ll come with ya I’m keen to do it myself
@@joshuastewart7894 start without me I'll meet ya there 😉😁
Just keep the front wheel light, and stay on the gas... easyer said than done, i know..
And BTW Your ABS is not the problem.
ABS is always a problem
He kept mentioning the abs because you have to turn it back off everytime you turn the bike off. I don't think he was blaming abs for his struggles...he was just tired of having to turn it off.
But u don't need to turn ure abs off in that thick sand. It makes no difference.
Tracktioncontrol is another story..
@@ktmgek I don't like it on on anything other than asphalt, I hate that fuckin feedback from the controls when you touch the brakes
@ktmgek most people ride with abs off, when riding off the pavement. I would never keep abs on in the sand or dirt. It definitely makes a difference...I've forgotten to turn it off before, the t7 takes forever to stop when abs is on. Some models have a selectable specific offroad abs...but not the early t7s.
I'm sure you guys are no strangers to riding, and a bike weighing that much loaded with gear won't be helping....but in sand you need all the momentum you can get.
stand up, get your ass over the back wheel and keep her lit!
you need to float with sand, and that means giving up a little control and letting the bike find its own way. heaps of fun on an enduro/MX bike. but I bet its hard on a Tenere
I'll bring my rod when we go back😂
Fine just keep it in ya pants
@@MVDBR sounds like you need to get out mate...
Getting a bit hard up there 😂
Great 👍 vid mate “ I don’t like sand riding either “ , I’m heading up to Cairns with Brother in-law and bikes in tow early June , probably inland , but coming back via coast around 26-28 way coming down past your way MAYBE 🤔 hook me up for a ride if things work out mate 👍
Yeah man be good to meet ya even just for a beer or 3 remind me closer to the date 🍻
@@MVDBR for sure mate 👍
Whats your problem with sand flies lol they suck FYI i found thick sunscrean works well with them they hate it stay upright
Cheers yeah recently had a pretty bad experience with the fkn things 😅🙈
5:32 there is alot easier way to get in. Did you come up via woodgate.
Gotta come through the northern end only like 500m of deep sand.
@@rickos_moto now ya tell me! Haha yeah we went from Woodgate side 👍
@@MVDBR atleast it was an adventure.
@@rickos_moto sure was. Didn't mind the ride in, getting out was cack but hey no one died 👍
Sand isn’t my friend I hate the bastard 😂
Hahaha it's alright when ya not hungover, more fun on a light unloaded bike tho that's for sure 😬
Sand sucks. I always hated sand. Hence the past tense...I'll never ride sand again! If you started riding in sand when you were 5 years old, you're fine, play in the sand all you like. I can't speak for Josh but I'm too old for that shit!
Sand's awesome on a little bike, but T7 with a hangover is a hard no from now on 😭 Defo getting too old for that shit man
THEN More sand for you, mofo. No jks.
Punch more off the mark, attain speed as it is your friend. Do not touch the front brake... ever. It'll feel like you're guiding a front rudder'd boat,
if'n when your speed's about right.
PRACTICE YOUR 'ROLL OFF' AS OFTEN AS YOUR "ROLL ON" (Twist of the wrist)
Besides a racetrack wearing slicks, the most consistent medium you'll find is sand. go fraser. Get up in the guts of it. So much firmer sand.
Did a rip from Kingfisher Bay to just south of the S.S. Maheno straight thru the middle on a KDX back a while. Fun run. You'll exit at a caravan park so shoosh before the exit🤗
+Your bike runs better for the next 2 weeks if you work it hard enough.+ It'll be the cleanest you've ever seen it
Whys you ride to kinkunna, when freshwater is closer (and better imho)
Teewah's always busy af, and someone told me hardly anyone goes to Kinkuna which is BS there were heaps of campers there 🤷♂ (I don't like people in case ya hadn't noticed haha)
@@MVDBR all good man.
I ain't been in long time, but, yes it's busy.
Kinkunna is isolated :)
Kindred spirit. Why do you think I live on a thousand acres in the middle of nowhere!!
@@CrazyWhiteVanDriver half ya luck 👌
@@MVDBR still too close to people but.
