inspired viewer very good for what it is... a small EDC-able fixed blade that can take a lot of abuse. I got a Spyderco para 3, a Tenacious, a Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter, and a whole slew of cheaper CRKT’s... BUT the things I will confidently do with my IZULA, I will never do with my other knives, expensive or cheap as they are. The Izula is one “thicc” knife. I can get it hair popping sharp freehand in under 5 minutes after a ton of abuse that would wear the edge out. It may not be designed for superior edge retention but it touches up pretty damn quick and is hella tough. About the only thing it doesn’t excel in is when I’m doing thick cardboard cutting for extended periods. It’s doable, but noticeably more cumbersome than say, my Tenacious or Para 3, because of the thicc blade stock. But cutting that much cardboard at any one time is few and far in between. Plus it has no problem with the thinner varieties, or if you just break down thick cardboard at the seams. Only when you cut against the grain does it struggle. But then again, that’s why we have multiple knives, right? I like carrying my izula as an in-pocket “dangler”...by itself or complemented with my Para 3 in the other pocket.
You sir deserve way more subscribers!!! LOVE your take on a review !!! You did all the Nasty stuff we could possible imagine to that IZULA and allow us to draw our own conclusion I love it....All though I wouldn't be against a tight, well thought out 2 min summary via spoken word cheers from Northern Alberta, Canada
I own an Esse 4 with the 3D brown micarta scales OD green coating which I have beaten on and the PR4 (Patrick Randall bush craft take on the Kephart with black oxide blade. The Rowen heat treat on their 1095 high carbon make them absolutely RELENTLESS!! I have an Izula II with survival package coming tomorrow which I will EDC and use at work into the the coming fall season!!! I will get the Xancudo in S35vn soon enough but went with the Izula first due to video such as this one!!!! Love It
thanks for this review! I own an Esee 4 and haven't hardly used it yet. I was wondering how the Izula held up to hard use and if the skeletonized handle had any issues with wood batoning. and your video has helped me! God bless!
Mayonaise There are 3 variations of the original ESEE Izula. One is orange, and has safety green attachable scales. One is black (as seen in the video), and has gunmetal gray scales available. And then there’s the Beretta model 😉... which comes with checkered black scales, a zipper whistle, compass, survival cards from Randall’s Adventure & Training, and a techlock belt holster sheath. And it has the Beretta label runnin down the length of the blade. You have to order that model by request, specifically from eseeknives or jeff@jungletraining.com. It’s absolutely worth it.
+Ozyrob2 thank you! And you're right, handle scales would make it a lot more comfortable to use, stabbing the sheet metal was kinda hairy without a solid grip :D
What is the best sharpening method and tool for this knife? Just sold my bk11 and bought an izula love the knife 10 out of 10 but I am a noob at sharpening... thanks
Good thing is : the 1095 sharpens on virtually anything :D if you are new to sharpening I'd recommend a guided - angle sharpener like the Lansky system.
Toller Test?
Excellent video and thank you 🙏🏼 it was exactly what I was looking for. Just a heads up that powder coating is toxic to food, be careful about using it for food prep 💪
@@devatwell334 yeah I know but why add more if it can be prevented. To each his own but I use a SS mora for camp kitchen duties and some use a SS Opinel.
Ciao Stephan
+stephan123321 Servus Stephan, danke sehr!
I have the esee 3 I carry all the time .. I use that little knife to.pry toilets off the floor and pry old sinks off counter tops and i also dig with it .. it looks like trash now but man that little knife has been thru hell and back... i wouldnt trade if for nothing.and if it ever does break I just send it back to esee and they replace it .. that's unbeatable .
Great video but I still prefer the blackjack 155 basically thee exact same design but done in 154cm and fully convexed so it is a beast of a neck knife and amazing at any bushcraft or wood prep tasks and the micarta scales from izula are interchangeable with the 155 also so I have a set oj mine and it is unstoppable
Just ordered my IZULA two days ago. Watching this video made me super stoked about that decision. Can’t wait for it to arrive.

Thank you for posting the video.
I was undecided but after your video now I decided to buy one.

great test video. now im glad i bought the Izula 2, because now i know it can handle tasks that is in my urban environment. thanks for sharing.
Excellent demonstration
That's insane. "Let's penetrate some steel"... If it can do half of all this it can do twice of what I'll ever put it through. Ordering today.
Awesome video and review. I own the Izula. Ordering the Izula 2 this week. Thank you. Durban, South Africa
I have 2 Esee Izula's. They are the destroyer of worlds.

You weren’t kidding on calling this a abuse test. Color me impressed though with how the izula held up. Serious quality knife

It’s my EDC. Drill a hole in the sheath to prevent rust. Then order interchangeable handle scales. Mine is the Beretta model 👌🏼
r3ptile what do you mean by beretta model?

r3ptile how much are we talking?
Mayonaise Only $60, and worth every penny
r3ptile the normal one is 70-80$
Love my Izula, but the Wander Tactical Menoceras has replaced it for my small blade/edc.
hard core testing. it's a way better knife with a propper handle. way better test of the blades capability than ive seen on RUclips
+Ozyrob2 thank you! And you're right, handle scales would make it a lot more comfortable to use, stabbing the sheet metal was kinda hairy without a solid grip :D
Great demo!
Complimenti. Bel video👍👍👍
Awesome video I'm buying a izula Thanks

Mark Burns one of my favorite beginners sharpeners is the spider co sharp maker.
Yet another izula review, however, unlike any other
Tuff knife. I have one and love it. Thanks for video!
I have Esee Izula and Esee 4. What else do you need in wilderness?
Definitely have your bases covered with those two knives!!!
Genau nach meinem geschmack ! Super Video und Messer. lg Marco

1095 steel? 60 hrc ?
just ordered the 440c stainless Izula
Then it's a fake their isn't a 440 one
There's indeed a 440C version! Esee doesn't grant it its lifetime unlimited warranty though....
Moin John! Das war heftig! LG Claus

Craziest part of all is that you can do all of this and more to it and ESEE will send you a replacement if it breaks with no questions asked.
Moin,

Which steel was it??? Does he not talk at all? 🤷♂️🤦♂️
1095
American vininull, is that you?
Ordered one. Saw this video. Ordered another one
I HAVE ONE OF THOSE AND REALLY
KNOW THAT IT IS A SMALL WAR TANK.
Did you cook those green beans.. lol
Nah these were literally 18 yrs old
Great video but I still prefer the blackjack 155 basically thee exact same design but done in 154cm and fully convexed so it is a beast of a neck knife and amazing at any bushcraft or wood prep tasks and the micarta scales from izula are interchangeable with the 155 also so I have a set oj mine and it is unstoppable
Das Izula ist schon eine gute Kunstruktion. Da passt vieles.
Die guten alten Junge Brechbohnen ;)
*jungen
Now.
Let’s take it to saltwater 😁
Hmmm Brechbohnen aka. vomit beans!
I mean it's cool it's tough.. but it doesn't need to be to cut stuff🤦♂️
It is a knife.. not a hammer or a pry bar 😉
( Horrofilm )
literally anything you could baton with an izula, u could just break over your leg or with your foot lol.
