    Loved seeing Fort on here, played it a couple times and it really does hit harder than it looks. My favorite part about it is that cards you don't/can't use on your turn are made available for others to steal. This is one of the best deckbuilder mechanics I've seen because of the interaction it enables. One of my biggest gripes with deckbuilders is the lack of interaction and feeling like a solo game that you are all playing at the same time.

      @925Gamers  Год назад

      I agree! Fort is so good! Great interesting mechanics! Deck builders can become a bit stale after a while. Glad that we have some unique ones

      Sadly the cards taken from you are likely the ones you wanna remove from your deck anyway. There's more incentive to keeping your deck mostly monocolor than multicolour since you can boost your own actions that way, by simply drawing them together, whereas keeping other colors to follow other players is unreliable since you must have them in hand when other players play that suit, and you can keep them to wait for that moment, so multicolour decks just become so cloggy that you actually want opponents to take those unused cards. Some endgame scoring cards also incentivise further collecting one suit. These factors push players towards monodecks without enough tension or tradeoff to go into the other way, and eventually the game loses its famed interaction. I've never seen a more solitaire-inducing role following game, even RftG has pretty strong leeching, and Dominion's interactive cards become more interactive as the game goes.

    And personally I don’t understand why Arnak is considered a deck builder. The cards you buy are mostly used once or at most twice.

    • @925Gamers
      @925Gamers  Год назад +1

      Because it is classified as a deck builder.

    • @revimfadli4666
      @revimfadli4666 9 месяцев назад

      Because you put them under a deck. That's it. It's such a bare minimum of deckbuilding that the game seems like it could've went with action retrieval like Lewis & Clark instead. Same with the worker placement

    For the Harry Potter fans, you have to add Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle,and for word games fans, add Hardback. Finally, for those who are looking for a simple game to replace Risk, recommend Web of Spies.

    Aeon’s End
    Baseball highlights 2045
    Paperback
    Undaunted

    • @revimfadli4666
      @revimfadli4666 9 месяцев назад

      Both Star and Hero Realms have cloggy markets though, and the unclogging cards can be buried under the very market it's supposed to unclog. I prefer Cthulhu realms due to that since starter cards allow you to unclog
      Worth bearing with the overused Cthulhu theme

    I played all the games of your list except El Dorado, therefore I feel entitled to comment. I have no problems adding hybrids to this list, but the deck building aspect in Great Western Trail is so small that it wouldn’t be on my list, despite being a very good game. I wasn’t in that much impressed by the Loop and partly also Siege of Runedar, so they wouldn’t make my list. Marvel Legendary would be my number one, hands-down. I could be that friend you mentioned, who has most of the expansions 😂. Instead of Star realms, it would be Hero realms. The ones that got got kicked out would be replaced with Tyrants of the underdark and Thunderstone Quest. Clank being in the top three. With a honorable mention to Dragonfire and Vikings gone wild.

      Nice! I still have a lot of games to try out! I heard aeons end is good too! I actually just played hero realms. It’s good, but I heard I need to get the campaign boxes. Heard that makes the game incredible!

      @@925Gamers I played Aeon’s End a lot and while it’s good, it won’t make it to my personal top 10, because of the fixed market stacks, I feel my choices are too restricted. Furthermore you need more than one card of a given deck so my group usually ended up in saying things like player A buys this one and player B just buys that one... efficient but far too monotonous to my taste. For that similar reason, Dominion makes it only to my 10th place, but it stays there, as my look-alike is in the game due to the illustrator being a buddy of mine; I am depicted on the „Money lender“ card.
      The Hero realms campaign is rewarding and good and if you are a Harry Potter fan you want to also try the selfnamed deck building game, it’s decent. And FFG just released their new Star Wars DB Game.

      @@goodsound4756 wait what? That’s so cool! You’re on a card! Well that make sense about the fixed market! You really should try quest for el dorado! That game is so much fun!

      @@925Gamers if I have a chance, I will. And you should try Tyrants of the underdark which mixes deck building with area control. And also Thunderstone quest, but while it also has fixed, stacks in each stack are three levels of the same card, so during the game you are able to upgrade them, and still, there is one deck with unique cards you can buy or gain as loot.

      @@925Gamers well im not a fan of deck building games that are related to vp/euro games at all I think it's just less fun for me at least.
      As for my choices:
      After the virus from the creator of Terra forming Mars - amazing scenario based deck building with a little marvel champions use card as resource mechanism
      Superhot the card game - the most unique use of deck building there is
      Warps edge- for solo if you want some amazing bag building experience
      Other games I own and love are :
      Asgards chosen - it's mage knight Light,
      Ausonia - take all of dominion mechanics to one single game,
      Feudalia - if you want Catan the deck building game
      Hero realms - with the campaign only the ability to level up characters is amazing!
      Rune age - in the same game you gave solo, coop and competition modes
      Dunguen brawler - unique Dunguen crawlers
      Just so many other non-popular ones but each one is just better than the same old usual boring choices that everyone makes
      So much more....

      @@mabos555 I think it’s all personal preference though cause I feel like deck building can get stale if it doesn’t have other mechanics. I like a few of the pure deck builders, but having other mechanics makes the game better for me. Would love to try some of these out. Are they hard to find?

    • @mabos555
      @mabos555 Год назад +1

      @@925Gamers I really tends to like the deck building aspect as is, sure we can have some tokens here and there or coins to use instead of cards but other mechanics just means less time in the deck building aspect,
      Arnak? We don't feel the deck building at all,
      Dune? Please... The deck building is almost not there...
      Sure maybe if it's the other way around market the game as x game with a deck building mechanism, but most of the time it's the other way - market the whole game as a deck building when it has nothing( or rarely nothing) to do with the actual deck building.
      As for the games? Yeah I think most of them can be found on Amazon and bgg store/market or even in Facebook groups.
      If you have no choice then eBay as well haha
