Some years ago, I met Frank Peter Zimmermann in the train 🚊 🤣
I entered the train and put my luggage 🧳 up in the storage place and smiled when I saw a violin 🎻 case. Then I recognized the owner 😂
I am very proud that my backpack was allowed to sit next to a Stradivari.
I would have thought you were proud of having been in a liaison with Richard Wagner and having him compose a cycle of songs for you which he even named after you! ;)
Very emotional moment when Zimmermann asks the oboe soloist to stand up. Bravo FPZ, you are a genious. God Brahms would have very pleased with this splendid performance.
The wonderful Mariss Jansons - how we shall miss him! Mr Zimmermann must have thought himself very lucky to be doing this concerto with Maestro Jansons.
Nai61a yes 😭 R.i.P. Mariss Jansons
I will always be grateful to him for his recording with Hilary Hahn and the Shostakovich violin 🎻 concerto.
He was a very special conductor ❤️
@@mathildewesendonck7225 Absolutely. I had the great pleasure of playing for him in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra back in the early 80s. He was wonderful.
Die beste Interpretation des Violinkonzerts von Brahms. Zertifiziert intergalaktisch! 🌹
The orchestra is BRILLIANT
It was such a perfect performance!! Sounds brilliant and fantastic
I love his performance ...
The Brahms Violin Concerto is arguably the very hardest of the great concertos for a violinist to bring off.....A single bow and a single string must bear a large fraction of the emotional and dramatic weight of one of the greatest pieces of classical music. Zimmerman, not a name that immediately comes to mind in the firmament of violin luminaries ( heifetz, oistrakh, stern, milstein, vengerov, etc) , fully rises to the challenge.
Such a long introduction - as are Paganini's, Beethoven's, Elgar's, Wieniawski's, and Mozart's. Dvorak, Sibelius, Mendelssohn, Lalo, Barber, and Bruch got it right - just one bar of intro and off we go!!! By the way, a very clean and precise performance this is, as always. If I'm not mistaken, this was one of Kleiber's favorite orchestras.
foreplay vs quickly
both have their place but most importantly when...
both are fun
super, danke
Bravo!!!!! Um dos Violinistas Preferido!!!
Bravi!!!!!!!!! This is paradise on earth
Superb ! Enjoyed every moment
What clean, elegant lines from the orchestra and a pure tone from FPZ. This neo-classical interpretation shows that Brahms is more than just Beethoven-Lite; it's a refreshing change from most interpretations which lean too heavily on the Romanticism of Brahms' musical idiom.

I just finished listening to the version with Wolfgang Sawillisch and the NHK . Zimmerman was younger, and perhaps, a bit more brash. Both are beautiful but this one with Muti shows how he has matured as a Violinist and Musician. He is a treasure.
It's not Muti - It's Mariss Jansons
best violinist !!!
I just want to comment on how pleasing it is to listen an oboe playing with a singing vibratto, in the second movement for exemple, I think it is rare.
Thank you, Violin sound so good,
Increíble Sonido, BRAVO!
Love the litte moment Zimmermann had with the first at the second statement of the second theme.. @15:55
Nice cadenza in the first movement! Not every great violinist has a nicely-curved 4th finger! So glad I looked up this performance by FPZ.
Gracias nomeradin 1 por tu Aporte
Gracias Zimmermann, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Mariss Jansons
Gracias Johannes Brahms
REINTER Desde ESPAÑA
Mayo 2019.
Szeryng is the only one who really captures the style of the last movement, in my opinion. This is superb, though.
Bravo very German style playing
Great performance, thanks for share.

It's not bad at all. I respect hie endeavour but I always say wow ... where are you Henryk Szeryng, you legend for all times?
Zimmermann, not Mutter, is the best violinist in Germany.
I totally agree.
泣きました。

bravo!!!
3:45 Magic
Normal cadenza ,not manner❤🎉😮😊
His performance in 1993 at Suntory Hall was much better.
Who is first cellist name?
Are you star?
Sebastian Klinger
其慢板樂章的詮釋平庸,這是二次戰後德國的普遍現象,比較Martzy的版本即知:大鵬之志
Sublime!! Pensé que no había alguien que tocara este concierto con el mismo nivel de David Garrett.... pero afortunadamente me equivoqué....
is this his primary violin? It sounds so diffrent.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Peter_Zimmermann#Stradivarius
That's right. At this time, his main instrument, the Stradivarius "Lady Inchikin," was no longer on loan because the owner's bank had gone bankrupt. He was using a loaned Guarneri del Gesu instead.
As he said in an interview, he was very troubled that Lady Inchikin left him because he is a Stradivarius player and Guarneri is a different style.
I see no Riccardo Muti, are you nuts ?
Vous avez raison, ce n'est pas Ricardo Muti
Actually it's Mariss Jansons
TOLL ! :)
Beautiful sound and good techniques. Music wise not too much.
9:10 :)

Compared to his performance in 1993 at Suntory Hall (Tokyo), this was totally awful.
At that time he was playing on a Guarnerius del Gesu violin, maybe that type of sound didn't fit to him.
what cares, the ongoing pulling of the tones is simply annoying, fpz isn't hélène
Gawd awful inconsiderate crappy camera work!! When the soloist is playing, *THE CAMERA SHOULD ALWAYS BE ON THE SOLOIST!!!!* To do otherwise is egregiously disrespectful to the performer!!! Otherwise a great performance.
Yikes. This is not the Frank Peter Zimmermann I'm used to hearing. Is that a new instrument? He seems to be fighting with it. He's a Stradivari sort of player, and that looks like a del Gesu. It's sounds forced and unattractive.
powerofalto it's his "new" instrument " Stradivarius, general dupont " :D
Nein, ich glaube das ist del Gesu.
Ist das wirklich dupont?
no this was the del gesu he had for a short time after he lost his lady
Awesome violin player and orchestra.
Why does it look like the conductor is cradling a python and tickling it's belly at the start of the piece? 🤣😂😉
