I remember this episode! Shot in my home town! I used to run a "marathon" to get home from school just to make sure I got there on time before the show started!
This show has been one of the most delightful things for me to discover. It interests me and helps me greaty to go to bed. I must ask, why are there so many segments available on this RUclips channel but so few full episodes? Are the full episodes lost in some way? Hard to convert for uploading? Or is it just a deliberate choice by the creators/rights holders? The full episodes have such wonderful little bits between each segment and they're so enjoyable. This show really is something else for me.
Thanks. many shows were taped over and those that remain sometimes have people who have died, places that no longer exist but mostly music that gets a copyright challenge if we use it although we bought all the rights. We do occasionally put up a whole episode just to show people what the original show was like - Rob
Artists of the 17th century did actually use a camera... more accurately a camera obscura. The camera obscura was essentially a dark room with a pinhole in the wall facing a lighted room on the other side of the room. The model or subject of the artwork would sit in the lighted room. The light would pass through the pinhole and project the image onto the back wall of the dark room. The artist would place a canvas against the back wall and trace around the projected image. The Dutch artist Vermeer is said to have used one. Part of the evidence for this is the unusually high number of lefthanded subjects in paintings---including lefthanded animals.
was there ever a show quite similar to the curiosity show that took place in some kind of a white futuristic room? I remember that the kids also assisted during the experiments
yeah ok, the curiosity got the better of me "pun intended", a bit of google it's called a Kaprekar number. the number in the show was 1/7 number, and multiplied by 7 is 999999.. hence divisible by 9. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/142857
Pheidippides reportedly ran 150 miles from Athens to Sparta, then 150 miles from Sparta to Athens, then 25 miles from Athens to Marathon, then 25 miles from Marathon to Athens where he died. The distance from the battlefield to Athens wasn't 150 miles.
so did you start earlier with cheating with the scratchings, or was it a 1988 first? (i always wondered how you were able to draw these things so accuratly - now i know ;) (perspective-clip) and boy i hope the FFF-people watch this episode. they might learn something very usefull...
It looks like the video hasn't been deinterlaced when transferring from tape to digital (obvious combing on moving scenes). The quality would be much improved were the second half of every frame included! Aside from that, always great to see your content!
It's still way better picture quality than when I watched this show as a kid, the TV reception wasn't great for Channel 9. Often black+white, constant snow, audio scratchy, ghosts everywhere. This video is luxury!
@@boomstand2872 Haha yeah, I know what you mean. I was fortunate to live on a relatively high point and so the rooftop aerial had little trouble with the major stations. SBS was a different story, but aside from the New Years Day concert I don't recall my family ever watching anything on SBS!

An entire episode? You spoil us. I've only been watching clips up until now, but I will definitely get this in when I get the chance.
Early Christmas present, cheers Deane and Rob!
Very cool. Thanks Deane and Rob. Loved Deane's calculator watch too!
Those opening lyrics must have been hard to memorise :). Thanks for the memories.
that Casio calculator watch is awesome. I wanted one of them so bad when I was a kid.
Show this to your friends.
Love it! Makes me feel young again

thank you for the upload. I love this!
Omg best episode ever! Burn stuff ,cure snake bite, eat bug spittle! Glorious!
Worth mentioning that 142857 is the repeating decimal part when dividing by 7, which I think is why the trick only works from 1 to 6.
Great episode! The graphics in the painting segment must have been very advanced for the time.
Yay ive been watching alot of curiosity show just before going to bed. Guess im staying up today
it's a Christmas miracle!

What a blessing
Damn, the original full-length intro vocals are great!
“We need the trees AND THE TREES NEED US”
We are part of the earth - love yourselves and one another ✌🏼

the card trick, I think the combinations are also divisible by 9.

I'm just happy I can see this even though I was born in 97... 1997 not 2097 by the way.
I was born in 2097 and still catch happy feels from this
I come from 3097 and this still a reference to learn things
coming from 4097 because i forgot about marathons

Glad you clarified, you almost blew my mind 😅

Where can I find one of those cardboard record players??
Tech-moan has done a few reviews on them! Check out his videos!
@@Jawst Tech-Moan would say the Wow and Flutter would be off the scale on this one.
Wat amazing treat!

Did you guys ever talk about the Camera Obscura?
No, but we did variations on the pinhole camera as in

Sounds absurd but but it is possible
