    My understanding of sandwich style layouts is that you want the CPU/GPU pulling air in from the sides and all 4 case fans as exhaust. With a top to bottom airflow direction, the top fans are working with the coolers, and the bottom fans are fighting against the cooling.

    Thinking about moving to this case, and moving my wife's SFF into my Geeek G4 since her computer sits on her desktop. Looks like the latest version come with USB-C front panel connector. Although I updated my MB to a B550, due to GPU pricing and availability last couple of years opted for a Ryzen 5600G for the moment. Now that GPU prices are near reasonable, thought I'd start by migrating to this case, then update CPU and GPU.

    was interested in this case, but seeing some people saying the drilled holes don't lined up.
    I wonder how this case compared to NR200 size wise, as well as what the practical width of GPU (55mm it says but it seems that isn't the case after taking mounting into account)

    • @ryanlemieux3323

    • @kcfish4862

      @@ryanlemieux3323 yeah, but that 80% sometimes doesn't feel that much in actual comparison. I was thinking about downsizing to this from my current NR200, but don't really have a good perspective on the size.

      Mine came in today. The four motherboard mount holds were pretty tight, but overall no major problems. The are a few tiny marred spots on the edges, but for 120 dollars it's a great case.

      Funny, I went the other way. Started with a huge Corsair RGB tower > Dancase a4 > NR200. It’s damn near silent and I’m running a 2.7 slot GPU and 10c CPU and with an aio. Do I miss the Dancase? Sure. Probably my favorite case ever, but it was noisy at 50 decibels when gaming, and could only support a 65w 6c. Had a FormD as well, but couldn’t handle a 10c and 3070, too hot. For now, the nr200 does everything I want except fitting into a backpack for LAN parties.

    • @Oh_Sully23

      @@NOSfusion yeah it really is an awesome case. Nothing smaller has convinced me to downsize further yet, especially given they all cost a lot more than my NR200 did.

    I prefer tinted acrylic as those pesky scratches don’t show as bad.
    I’m hoping your project involves some venting mods!
    As Geek did that with their previous case maybe if you have any recommendations to pass on that would be one to make.

  • @hansbehrends438
    @hansbehrends438 3 года назад

    I have this very case. I really like it. For the price of $120 ($145 shipped to the US) it is great value.
    I'm planning on a fairly modest build. Unfortunately, the Scythe Shuriken 3 is just past the height clearance maximum of 66mm at 69mm tall. Without the Anti-Vibration pads, it's 67 so still no cigar.
    Also, the GPU I have is exactly 55mm wide (2.75 slot) so I'm hoping it still clears the side panel. I have the vented side panels.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад

      Are you able to find the Id Cooling cooler where you are? This or the Noctua L12S Ghost would be my top two choices. For the GPU it’s close to the max- vibration or fan interference would be my concerns but you could always space out the side panel with some spacers, the magnets should still hold.

    • @MachinesMore

      The rad compatibility isn’t great with the G1 SE or A70. For the G1 SE the best official support is for a 120, and that’s going to be good enough for CPU or GPU only. You could try and put fans on the outside if you do a top 240 though.

    • @Fluvance
      @Fluvance Год назад +1

      Very late reply,.but for anyone else who wonders this, temperatures are fantastic. However, with thicker GPUs like my MSI 6800XT Trio (2.5 slots) the fans are so close to the side panel that you get significant turbulence noise. I bought some generic dust filter mesh which changed the sound but didn't improve it.
      Ultimately, I ended up using the dust filter from a Cooler Master NR200, which has a coarser mesh, and added an extra 2mm spacing to the side panel edges, moving it away from the GPU.

    can you test with the 4 case fans exhausting? It would be interesting to see the impact on temps (I don't know if cpu and gpu would recirculate the bottom exhaust), If it doesn't I think at least gpu temps will be better since you're most likely fighting the bottom exhaust of the GPU

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад

      I do intend on testing fan configs to get some general sandwich case implications. To some extent it will depend on the cooler design as well for the card- if you card is a blower style or where the fins run parallel to the length of the card, it might not be a big difference, but if the card exhausts out the sides I would postulate you would see more of an impact from doing the exhaust that way.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I think air cooled is the more expedient method for the chips that most folks will try to run in this case. For AIOs... that’s just a decision that users have to make based on their priorities. If the user doesn’t mind potentially getting a new AIO or warranty service... then I guess that’s OK too. To some extent the likelihood of that happening depends on the initial fill level and permeation level- some brands fill really well, and feature tubes that are more resistant to permeation. Air cooled is just no fuss-with this layout it can work really well too.

  • @jhautz817

    Set both top and bottom fans all to exhaust and it will be pulling air in thru the side panels and it will let the gpu and cpu breath. Would probably run lower temps than the bottom to top flow fan setup.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      That’s a theory I’ll be testing, with sandwich cases I’ve only had the luxury of one level of fans so will be interestingly see what happens.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      The fan quality is a bit average as with ID products but I think this would rank very high, since it does push/pull in a small size. Of course in the 70mm space you run into the Noctua L-12S which is tough to beat- this case is just a few mm from allowing the L-12S to fit. The better comparison size wise would be L-12S Ghost edition which I do not think would be as good as the ID.
