    Just a quick note on the D15S- Sliger mentions it is compatible, but I haven't tested it out yet. Other than the single fan difference, it is an asymmetrical design. Most likely that means you have to rotate it where clearance at the top would be better, but clearance at the bottom is completely dependent on the CPU socket position. On Asus ITX boards this is typically lower, Gigabyte and MSI have a higher position and would be better for that configuration. As a reference I have about 24mm of space between the bottom of the D15 heatfins and the GPU, by my estimation with the Gigabyte ITX the D15S in a lower position would still clear. YMMV depending on motherboard choice.

    Happy to see a S620 review out in the wild, and even better that it's on your channel. Great review, as usual! I really hope you do a similar series of videos with the S620, like you did with the NR200. The S620 has so many possible airflow configurations that I feel like you just scratched the surface in this video. I would be especially interested to see you test the deshrouded 3080 Ventus in this case. Here's hoping there's more S620 content in the works!

A PC gets enough usage for most ppl ($/hr of use over lifetime), that I think buying the best case you can find on the market makes sense 🤷. If you ever get your hands on a NH-D15S it would be interesting for you to revisit this case to test compatibility with mobos. I'd imagine whether it can fit would be very dependent on the CPU socket position. With the mobo in the video the D15S seems like it would have to be installed backwards as the regular D15 was already hitting the roof.
    Otherwise, great video! Best review of this case so far.

    I have watched through the whole video and I understand it runs a bit hotter than the nr200. I have a few questions.
    1. Will you recommend this case for a first time builder? I could just go out for nr200p in my local market but this case just feels so much high quality.
    2. How about ability to expend (upgrade in the future)?

    Thanks for the video anyway!

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      Hey Mark, thank you for checking in- here are my thoughts-
      1) The S620 is OK to build in, the access through the top and front isn’t as nice as in the NR200, I’d say the NR200 is more suited for a first time builder, and yes, the S620 does have a nice feel to it build quality wise, but the NR200’s build flaws are more alignment and finish quality vs structural problems, and from a design perspective it’s a win for the NR200. It’s not as big a difference as you might think. Also there are a slew of color options coming for the NR200/P as well.
      2) As long as it’s ITX or DTX boards and a 240 or 280 is good for your CPU, then you are covered. Both are pretty sufficient for bigger GPUs but the Nr200 has a little more going for it since it can go vertical gpu with a riser cable if you want.
      3) The M1 is my personal choice but is more cooling limited, and you don’t have as many drive mounting options, it is a different size category and really is more comparable to the S610. If you want to go big air cooler, the S620 is the one to go for.

    2.5" SSDs is easy. Some 3M double sizes tape and you can't mount a couple of SSDs on the side of the PSU. Heck you could mount two on the side of the PSU and an additional two on top of those for 4 SSDs. Then another one or two on the side of the PSU facing out, though that's probably more SSDs than the motherboard sports.

  • @RossOreto

    I have a very specific question for a particular setup in this Sliger case.
    I'm using the Noctua NH-U12A with an added slim intake fan and slim fan top exhaust right above the U12A.
    The GPU is 4080 FE so there are no bottom fans, and the PSU is side mounted so no front fan either.
    Pretty much all the attention is on the CPU and nothing on the GPU except its own cooling solution.
    The temps are already pretty solid however I'm looking for recommendations with this setup because I could add a side mount fan or another top mount fan if those have helped temps in anyone's experience?

    Sliger Should have made NR200p Clone but lighter with aluminum instead of steel, and 158mm limit instead of 155m limit of the NR200P then they would be the "Premium" NR200 case, right now its losing too much just to be slightly smaller, the 2 25mm at the top of the NR200 helps a TON with the glass panels duo the lack of vents, plus can't fit slim fans with the big GPUS with sliger unlike NR200 (nr200 got 75mm clearance at the bottom vs 70mm of the sliger and lot of gpus are full 3 slots at 60mm this gen~)

    Can the C14S run in low profile-mode in the S620 or does it need to have a 120 mm fan underneath to make it work? Also, how sizeable is the height difference between this case and the NR200 and between the two, which one do you prefer in terms of performance and overall delivery? Furthermore, the max GPU supported is 323 mm and I have a RTX 3070 that is exactly 323 mm. Would this (Gaming Z Trio) realistically fit into the S620? Thanks in advance.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      Hey Daniel, the C14S can run in fan on top mode (just like in the NR200). The big advantage the S620 has is in cooler height so big dual towers fit, but even then I think a good single tower is fine for most (not all) CPUs. The NR200 is slightly taller, and the biggest difference is top fan compatibility - which makes a very big difference for overall thermal performance. In general I’d go NR200 but if there is a compelling reason to have out of box SFF compatibility for something like a Dark Rock Pro 4 or D15, that’s what the S620 is for.

    Fantastic review! I really appreciate that it confirmed a question I couldn't find an answer for anywhere else: that using a NH-D15S (offset toward the GPU) with the Gigabyte Aorus motherboard will *not* allow the use of a 15mm slim fan on the top of the case. Seems like using my Mugen 5 rev B (that I originally bought for my NR200P based on your other videos) is going to be the better choice here. Looking forward to more reviews of this case, and the 610 when you get one!

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад

      @@MachinesMore The offset is 8mm (67x83) from what I've read, so it'll be close. I'm curious to see the results! I'll also be curious to see any reviews that omit the bottom fans; the case only has about 70mm of clearance for the GPU, so most of the 3080s/3090s will have to manage without them. Your NR200 reviews suggested bottom fan inclusion wasn't a huge temperature difference, so I'm curious if this case follows suit.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      240 at the bottom officially supported, just like the M1. Technically 2x140mm fans fit at the bottom but I think the length of a rad would be super tight (and you also have to consider your tubing run and where the inlets and outlets are). One thing I forgot to mention was that a 120 at the rear is also possible.

    • @dangeloenglish4284
      @dangeloenglish4284 3 года назад

      @@MachinesMore Really love the Ncase design. My only complaint is adding maybe 15cm to the top, and about 10mm to the bottom. The ultrathin rad is perfectly fine for GPU cooling, but being able to fit the standard 25mm noctua on it would be a huge help. And adding the slim fans to the top to help control the direction of vented air would also help.
      I know it would make it a bit bigger. But they could just call it the XL version, on for air and one for custom loops. The width I think is perfect. And the from panel doesn’t matter so much because that’s a great space to fit extra 2.5”/3.5”.
      You make awesome videos man. I think a good addition to your regular stuff is adding a section to all possible Radiator/AIO support. I believe you did it with the nr200. But other then that you do a phenomenal job.

    • @MachinesMore

      The front fan is set up to exhaust. The primary difference in thermals between the two cases is primarily from the position and compatibility of the top exhausts- the two top 25mm fan is the best place to exhaust since it creates a highly directed vertical column from bottom to top which works well to get both cpu and gpu exhaust out of the case quickly.

      Ah you meant the PSU fan, yes you’re right. And that’s the dilemma I had whether to exhaust into the PSU or to have it in opposition to the front fan. Obviously the front Noctua is much more powerful, the PSU fan isn’t on at full blast with the 3070/3700X combo at load (3080 is a different story), so I think the effect of it holding back the front fan isn’t as big of an issue as potentially drawing in less air for itself. One of those SFF compromises. At the end of the day the GPU thermals I saw were excellent, certainly for a 16L case in between the M1 and NR200 I’d say it’s doing better than I’d expect.

      It would fit in a carry-on, I’d probably pop a tower cooler off if you have one mounted, just to relieve mobo stress from movement. That’s about it, cushion it with clothes, bubble wrap, stuff like that.

    Very informative video! I was wondering if there is any way I could “cut” the inside front panel so I can fit my MSI suprim card in this case because it requires 1 extra cm of clearance in length...

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      Cheers! I think you could, there's enough room for it and I think a rectangular hole is structurally OK, thickness should barely work too (no bottom fans). Do you have the case already? Because the one other thing is the power plug location. The Suprim is 140mm or so, that might interfere with the regular plug, you may want to order the pigtail version. Also, I think you can get the card in but it will definitely be a bit challenging from a build and cable management perspective.

      @@MachinesMore thanks for your answer ! I don’t have the case yet, but I’m looking forward to do an itx build with this gpu. I’ve seen that it could barely fit in the nr200 but I wanted a case with a more premium finish. I think I will need to stick to the nr200p though, first because the sliger is ~300€ here against 100€ for the nr200 so I can’t justify that much extra without knowing if it will actually fit... unless I manage to trade my suprim from a smaller gpu, this one is not itx friendly for sure... anyways thanks for your feedback, much appreciated!

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад

      I’m guessing it’s similar but the U12A would have the edge. With the unimpeded 120mm fan opening at the back and the possible rear to front (or front to rear) airflow direction I’d say your typical tower has more of an advantage over top down. The interior side fan can help the C14S as well.

    I would love to get your thoughts on using the external pump rez with this case or a hybrid GPU (ease of build and noise). I am interested in using water cooling to make a really quiet build but as this would be my first time building I'm worried it might be a little too far out of my skill level. Seems like it would be easier to do here vs. NR 200 with the case modding.
    Fantastic video!

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 года назад +1

      Well, my take on custom cooling is, do it for the looks. If it’s a performance argument then I really feel that high end air cooling can get you close enough to a quiet system. After all you still have a potential DDC pump humming along, though your fans can stay low. In the S620 the setup would have to be bottom plus side rad, and the bottom rad absolutely has to have slim fans, and with the side rad this is a vented panel setup, so no “looks” so to speak. Plus the limitation of a integrated CPU pump block or external res- there’s a lot going the “modded” NR200’s way since a bottom rad with thick fans, standalone pump/res, potential top rad with slim fans, while fully visible with the glass, is going to offer a lot more fun for the custom loop builder. You still have the same bottom plus side rad option if that’s desired. That’s not to say it can’t be done in the S620, just not as many options.
      edit- On the hybrid GPU - that's a good option sometimes but in SFF it will limit your CPU cooling options. Since the thickness is still too much to mount a bottom rad, you have to side mount it or rear mount it (120 onlyh) and you're either going low profile cooler or potentially a thin tower. It's a halfway point that yields too many compromises- if you're going to water cool the GPU in SFF just go ahead and do a full open loop for everything.

      @@MachinesMore Hey thanks so much for the thoughtful reply! Really good points and a lot to think about. I would imagine it's less painful to start with air and move to water if I don't like it, than the other way around. I guess I'm just traumatized by having an old school blower gpu and super tower prebuild that I want to get as far from the noise as possible 😆
      I'll say I'm definitely giving air cooling much more consideration thanks to this channel, very much appreciated!

    The only thing this case has over the nr200p is that you could fit a big air cooler like the nh d15, other then that I don’t really see why you would spend $150 more on this case over the nr200p.

      This would be a “horses for courses” discussion. Performance is one thing but I can also appreciate that some users build PCs for the finer details and quality aspect as well, and this really fulfills that niche. My personal preference is for this size bracket as well. The D15 vs U12A isn’t a night and day difference at all, either.

    I dislike Sliger paint. It chips easy. I've had 3 Sliger cases and they all have the same paint process. Out of all niche SFF cases, Sliger is at the bottom. I am glad that this case doesn't use PCIE extension since Sliger uses a cheaper brand that behaves improperly when mixing 3rd gen and 4th gen PCIE components.

    • @MachinesMore

      Interesting. This one looks different from another Sliger case I have, seems thicker and has more of a hard shell look to it. The 3.0 riser cables are always problematic with PCIe 4.0... and current PCIe 4.0 risers cost an arm and a leg.

    All I see is another NR200 style case. Let's face it SFF has turned into nothing but Dan A4 style sandwich cases and this perfect example of an uninspired ITX case that really just fits the normal expectations. How many times we just going to see the saem two style of cases with minimal differences be extolled as something 'new and interesting'. This case is not revolutionary, just vaguely evolutionary.

    • @CknSalad
      @CknSalad 3 года назад +1

      I have to agree with this. Honestly, the NCase M1, Dan A4, Sliger Cerberus Chimera / SM580, and maybe the Ghost S1 (if not were the inconsistent QC issues) were the trendsetters. Somebody just please make a good 19-24L case as the Lian Li TU-150 is bascially alone in that category for ITX towers (Silverstone SG14 is 19.55L, but it's a cube case). I'm not all that a fan of super tall cases like the Phanteks Shift.
      The NR200 is honestly heavily inspired by the Ncase M1 and TU150, so I wouldn't really call it all that original. NCase M1 was basically the 'BitFenix Prodigy' of enthusiast, boutique SFF cases and then came the Dan A4 as you mentioned for sandwich cases (do prefer the SM580 especially versatility wise). Lian Li TU-150 again took cues from the NCase M1, but at least they made it into their own with how you can do cable routing in the case.
