My experience with copper is that it turns the skin black. Is this a coated copper?

I used to round copper wire have plating layer, and not dark by time. you can change to suit the material you have.

I use soft copper wire. it have plating layer, and not dark by time. The wire sizes I use are captioned in each sample
I usually use 20 gauge ( diameter of 0.8 mm) to bend, 28 gauge (diameter of 0.3mm) to wrap. Some operations include wrapping a short length, I use wire 26 gauge (diameter of 0.4mm)
