    Can't ever imagine replacing my DD5 or DM3, but I do absolutely love these 200 series form factors. The EQ is incredible, as Leon has already shown in a previous vid. But this unit will almost definitely be the most profitable for Boss, based on the dd500 success.

    Great demo Leon ! I ordered one last week. It arrived a few days ago but my bout with leukemia put me in the hospital so I haven’t got my hands on it yet. After watching this video I’ll easily know the basics of navigating the pedal. I almost bought a DD500 and I’m so glad I went this route instead. I’m not much for tweaking.

    This entire series of pedals looks epic AF to be honest. So far the eq and delay have not disappointed, particularly keen for the OD200 to come out. I really wish they did the reverb as well though, that would've been wonderful. Oh well...

    LOVE this pedal! I got one good as new from a guy for 150 pounds!! sold my DD-8 to help pay for it :) nothing wrong with the single pedal! loads of fun but the DD200 is something else!!! the tone control is great! the pad echo is really nice! you get a Tera echo as well!! and I find myself using the pattern section often :) the unit is a sweet shop of delays!!!

    Wow! So cool! I didn't really pay attention to this, when it came out. I'm starting to think, for the price, this is great. Not too much fiddling , and it is really easy to use, without spending all day trying to program it. I simply don't have the "time" for that. Once again, thanks for your great demos! Maybe I will also look at the RV200. MIDI them together, and be done.

    Hi Leon, thanks so much for this video! I found it to be one of the best I've seen covering the DD-200... very well organized and super comprehensive covering all the available delay types. You just helped me decide that the DD-200 is the right pedal for me. I was looking to get a DD-500 but this will be more than enough and take up less real estate on my board. Really nice playing by the way. I am going to hit the subscribe button in 3... 2... 1...

    All the delays have the same ‘tone’ or ‘sheen’ to them. This has been my problem with all the multi delays I’ve had. The Timeline, Nemesis and Echosystem.
    You get a lot of different delays, but not different tones.

    • @stevieboy444
      @stevieboy444 5 лет назад

      You got it mate. Almost nobody else does & it it astonishes me. These pedals have "a" sound. Often I'll listen to the first few seconds of a review then I'll butt out or, if I like the basic tone of a pedal I'll watch the whole review. I don't know whether it relates to the buffer or to the designer's take on compression. When I listen to Radiohead I hear Line 6....& that's just 1 pedal on a really big board!!

    The Boss DD-200 is the only effects unit with PAD DELAY and it is the wildest, most imaginative delay they make. That it is not on ANY other Boss box might just be because it requires too much digital processing power. Even the most expensive multi effects processor, the GT-1000 does not have pad delay.

    I've had tons of different boosts, distortions, delays and reverbs. And they are all slowly being replaced with plugins, it's just a great way to work. You have to remember that everything you put in front of your amp is going to degrade/color the sound in some way, even with a pedal buffer. I still enjoy plugging straight into an amp the best.

  • @Noncommittal
    @Noncommittal 5 лет назад +1

    Oh boy. I'm such a Tera Echo addict. I had the TE-2 in the loop of my Axe Fx II XL and later the Axe III. Then I got the DD-500 only for having the Tera Echo effect in the loop of my DAW. Then I sold both because I should be able to dig something up in either the Axe or with a plugin. But I never managed to do that. Now I kinda miss it. Hmm ... maybe I should go for this pedal or the DD-500 again - it seems the DD-500 is only a little more expensive.

      It's funny because after several years owning dozens upon dozens of various pedals, boutique or otherwise, I eventually ended up with almost all boss or Ibanez pedals making my final cut. I remember when Boss did have a few bad years of cosm and the like, but I think they really have made some of the best stuff ever. They do have buffers in everything, so maybe that's what you perceive as coloring, which some people hate. It doesn't matter much to me but I can get why some people still think buffers are the devil.

    How is the buffer in this thing? I have the the MS-3 & I can't stand the buffer. The MS3 has a lot of great effects and features, but I really wish it didn't have the buffer. I "dealt with it" on my board (for gigging) because I loved the touch wah, but since I rarely use auto-wah I couldn't see sacrificing the tone. The MS3 other effects IMO also need to go through an effects loop. Until I did the 4 cable method I didn't like the reverb, delay or modulation effects -even the Terra Echo. Through the front of the amp, esp with drive, they are weak.
    Since Boss seemed to always have great buffers on their single effect pedals I am hoping the DD200 has a buffer similar to the older DD2/3/....7 etc. I'm game. I got used to tap tempo on the MS3 and now need that option!

    Seriously looking into this as my do-it-all delay. Got a TC Nova & Source Audio Nemesis, the TC has seen better days and the Source Audio is wonderful but the interface is not as intuitive as the Boss. More of a studio tool imo.
    The DD200 checks all the boxes for a working guitarists gigging mainstay.
    ... you already sold me on the Digitech Time Bender (200 clams on ebay! Score :))and that's a super fun delay.

    Nice video! Would you be able to be able to do a vid(s) on the pros and cons on going the pedalboard/Amp route vs the modeler route, which include the pros and cons for different applications (practicing, rehearsal, live, recording)? Then a video on how the two can be used together. For example, a video of an actual pedal board that goes into (let's say FM3 when it comes out) modeler that acts as the amp/cab going direct. Or going thru the modeler where it acts as a pedalboard into an actual amp?

    Best demo out there at the moment. Excellent quality and playing.
    The only question I have is: is it buffered like the other Boss pedals? Can you turn the buffer off like on the DD500?
    You know, in some amps like Boogies which already have a tube buffered loop, this would be a double buffer... Not good, I guess. (am I right? Or is it just a bad thought of mine?)

    • @ErikFritz
      @ErikFritz 5 лет назад +1

      Buffering is about lowering the output impedance of the signal, so there's no multiplying effect with buffers; a buffered signal coming out of one pedal going into another buffered pedal will simply maintain its low output impedance. The only issue with stacking buffers is, like anything else, the quality of the buffers in the chain. I suspect the fear of buffers comes from past experience of stacking a series of cheap pedals from the '80s with crap buffers.

    Well, I'm regretting selling my dd-20. The 200 contains lots of crappy sounds, a couple settings I was exited about are useless, it seems frail - TOTALLY un-Bosslike - it's FUGLY. The only improvement is greatly reduced size, weight and power consumption (the 20 couldn't use just any old wallwart). Luckily I do have four good presets, the downside being they're all standard or single head tape. The other tape settings are garbled as are the disappointing "drum" settings. If you don't mind the weight and size of the standard Boss double pedals, get a used DD-20 for $120ish - people are dumping them to get these like I did (I feel like a sucker) The new sounds the 20 doesn't have will sound dated in a year anyway and It's just a better sounding pedal.

      @@PinchTune okay now the 500 I bet is fantastic. Of course get it from somewhere you can return it. But if my MD 500 (I absolutely love it) is any indication it should be fantastic. Personally I just don't need that many delay sounds but quality wise I'd just bet the 500 is top notch.

    • @PinchTune
      @PinchTune 4 года назад +1

      @@deanallen9660 Ah, I see what you mean. It's almost as if BOSS purposely dumbed down the 200 to make sure it doesn't compete with the 500. I love the simpler interface of the 200, but in the end, the sounds HAVE to be top notch, otherwise not worth it.

    • @deanallen9660
      @deanallen9660 4 года назад +1

      @@PinchTune Well people who keep calling the DD-200 "The DD-500's greatest hits" could be right but it's too similar to the 20 for me to see it as anything but a smaller, lighter, updated 20. Operates the same way, 4 presets and a manual mode, big dial of sounds. Difference is the 20 sounds are better and the modulation is nice and more adjustable, and no trendy sounds to go obsolete. MUCH CHEAPER now used too!

    • @PinchTune
      @PinchTune 4 года назад +1

      @@deanallen9660 I did sooooo much research in order to buy one of these... and after so much back and forth, I thought the DD-200 was just too limited and the DD-500 too complicated. So I ordered a Source Audio Collider, which is based on the Nemesis. I might revisit BOSS later. I would like to try the DD-200, but I don't want to buy new and find myself having to take a bath on resale. If I can find a good used one to lower the risk of losing money if I have to resell, i'll give it a try.
