Pretty cool little box. Not sure how lush the chorus will get,but the flanger was killer. I think the slicer made my ears produce popcorn. Good show again,Brett.
FINALLY! An excellent demo of the MD 200. I've had one on order since June ... even without hearing it. Should be here any day. Can't wait. Thank you for your excellent overview.
Really gréât demo as usual. You made me buy this pedal! Unfortunately im not able to make it sound like you do!. Anyway. I also own the ehx mod 11. Imo the mod 11 is better for tremolo rotary and filter as autowah. Really nice trem. Please demo the ehx one day! I hope boss will upgrade these effects for the next firmware update.
Seeing as no one seems to try and I don't hear them getting close in demos, I can suppose the MD200 can't get in the ballpark of the MXR Flanger for Barricuda and Unchained type settings.
Both are not that good tbh. I would choose the Boss, tho. Price point -- and I love my MO-2 plus the Choruses are good. Boss knows Chorus! "Slicer" is something I have not used before, but I can imagine using it. You're better off getting 2-3 Source Audio pedals, downloading the Neuro App & Neuro Editor (phone & PC/Mac, respectively), then hooking them up to the Neuro Hub (cheap for what it does) and you've got some of the most awesome modulation and/or delay & reverb algorithms available. The possibilities and combinations are almost endless. Heck, even just out of the box you get 6 great sounds per One Series mod (and drive, fuzz, spring verb) pedal and 8 for the Delay. With MIDI it's mindblowing and not difficult. Idk about the Ventris, that one is very expensive but we're talking modulations here so it's tabled anyway. The Terraform sounded almost like a bad Joyo muti-modulation effect, at times. And I ain't knockin'Joyo, I'm knockin' Wampler. Its got a nice Tremolo and a nice Rotary. So does the Boss. Boss is Best Buy.
It depends. First, both are great pedals. I've tried both and I ended up keeping the Terraform. Your choice will depend on how you plan to use modulation effects in general (If you use all the time creating layers and ambient stuff or if you use sometimes to get more "colour" on your tone etc). Also if you are used to having analog modulation effects, your personal experience with these effects. The MD-200 has more tools to play with, more features. The Terraform is more simple, but it also has more than most people will ever need. I don't use modulation that much anymore but I love analog pedals, how "organic" they sound. That was the reason I kept the Terraform. I've had a few analog chorus and phaser pedals through the last 10 years, and for my ears, the Terraform gets closer to analog pedals tone-wise, at least on how I set them. In my opinion, the MD-200 still sounding like 90% of the multi-effects from 5 years ago. You do have the tweaking possibility to find what you want better, but it still very digital for me. Another factor is that it's so easy to use the Terraform that you're not going to spend most of your time bent tweaking the pedal. Again, this is very personal and I highly recommend trying both pedals.
Owned both. Boss is superior for chorus flanger and phasers. Ehx mod 11 wins for all the rest particularly trems and rotary and a mix knob for most of the effects. But i kept the boss because of stéréo and ergonomy for presets handling in live situations.
For me and modulation simpler is better. I've found with the md500 that I have to do quite a bit of menu diving do get the sounds I want. However, after this video I've since decided I want the Wampler terraform for the same reason
Try the ehx mod 11. Half the price and much better trem rotary vibe and autowah. But boss wins for chorus flanger phasers.... and ergonomy with the 2 footsw and 128 presets
*king of chorus and flange I think I'll just get another NUX Cerberus. It has all the mods i use regularly, and a great delay, reverb, IR loader, and a passable distortion. The overdrive is crap but i have plenty of those. The choruses and phaser are particularly good. If i need anything it doesn't have - Mod Core Deluxe! Best 50 bucks i ever spent
Only for chorus and ce1 unfortunately! I hope boss will improve this by proposing this option in the menu for each mode as it is the case for the choruses
This looks great. Can anyone tell me if the effects are digitally created or simple analog components? I bought the Strymon Mobius and was very dissappointed in how thin most of the effects sounded. I'm hoping this unit does a servicable chorus, rotary and phaser and will save me having to buy the 3 effects as separate pedals and a bigger board to put them on
stephen clarke I’m assuming it’s all digital. To my ears, this unit sounds rather thin and flat; like all Boss pedals, it’s passable, but nothing more. If you didn’t like the Strymon (I agree with you, incidentally) you certainly will dislike the Boss even more.
Dan Allen haven’t found a multi-effects modulation pedal that I liked yet, so I rely on separate pedals. The Mad Professor Double Moon combines chorus and flange and is great, but to call it a multi-effect would be a stretch...😀
Brett, you’ve sold another one. Thanks for your excellent demo!
That clean tone at the start instantly got my attention - then I saw the Axe is back in there :D
Excellent sound quality in this box
Best review of this pedal on yt. Thanks!
Did you see the bug crawl on the expression pedal at 1:21
I did now! LOL
At 3:26 on the exp pedal too! Devilish bastard.
The bug wants to get in the groove lol
I'm pretty sure it was a ... ... Beatle.
wonder if he himself saw that too
Love all your demos! Excellent playing!
Pretty cool little box. Not sure how lush the chorus will get,but the flanger was killer. I think the slicer made my ears produce popcorn. Good show again,Brett.
Choruses flangers an phasers are very good. All the rest is average.
Great to see examples with expression pedal. Would love to hear it into a real amp.
FINALLY! An excellent demo of the MD 200. I've had one on order since June ... even without hearing it. Should be here any day. Can't wait. Thank you for your excellent overview.
I wish this had been around before I got my Boss ME-80. A more user friendly size and all the modulation modes I like.
Anthony Cutt me too

Where would this sit in the chain? I have my phaser at the beginning and my vibe towards the end after a fuzz, overdrive and a compressor
I look forward to your videos. Very helpful.
Amazing video and amazing pedal ! Great Brett !!!
So you'd need a few of these if you wanted to layer more than 1 effect?
This is super impressive
The slicer unfolds it's effect best with direct signal off.
As a proud Boss SL-20 user, +1000 to that!
Also, I miss here the amazing stereo modes found in the original SL-20.
Can I used this boss MD200 to my single analog boss drive pedals on my pedal board? Thank you
How do use the expression pedal as a wah pedal with the auto wah?
Seeing as no one seems to try and I don't hear them getting close in demos, I can suppose the MD200 can't get in the ballpark of the MXR Flanger for Barricuda and Unchained type settings.
Sounds great Brett! Love all your vids. One of these days mine will be half as good! Haha. Cheers!
Show quero que esse pedal venha logo para o Brasil
Waou this sound amazing! Very surprise. Got to try this one!
Great review as always!
what expression pedal is that?
Love your Channel!
That chorus though...
How does the sound quality compare to the MS-3?
Out of this and the Wampler Terraform, what's the best buy do you think?
Both are not that good tbh. I would choose the Boss, tho. Price point -- and I love my MO-2 plus the Choruses are good. Boss knows Chorus!

Matt Gilbert thanks for the tip

Same for me but i kept the md200 because of the price and easier presets handling in live situation
Brett are you going to do a demo on the Electro Harmonix Mod 11 Modulator? Thanks..
I wish I could, MHH, but EHX have never been interested in me and I ain't paying for the privilege, if you get my drift.
@@BrettKingman I sure do and their loss. Thanks Man.

This is the mod pedal I actually needed when I got the MD500......smh
ok why do you say that?
For me and modulation simpler is better. I've found with the md500 that I have to do quite a bit of menu diving do get the sounds I want. However, after this video I've since decided I want the Wampler terraform for the same reason
This vs the Wampler Terraform?
It depends.
The Terraform has a lovely harmonic tremolo, but the MD-200 has the awesome slicer.
Choruses and Flanger kinda underwhelming, everything else good. Rotary, Vibe Vibrato, MO-2 and Slicer all excellent.
Try the ehx mod 11. Half the price and much better trem rotary vibe and autowah. But boss wins for chorus flanger phasers.... and ergonomy with the 2 footsw and 128 presets
They didn't sound anything like my old CE-2s, Super Chorus, and BF-2 Flanger
Boss should be the kind of chorus and flange!
The Mod 11 is a bit pricey in Australia.
*king of chorus and flange
I think I'll just get another NUX Cerberus. It has all the mods i use regularly, and a great delay, reverb, IR loader, and a passable distortion.

He didn’t setup the flanger right
what chords is he playing at 0:22? ty in advance
is the effects level a wet to dry level?
Only for chorus and ce1 unfortunately! I hope boss will improve this by proposing this option in the menu for each mode as it is the case for the choruses
Do I have to put it in the fx loop or in front of my amp?
Fx loop.
This looks great. Can anyone tell me if the effects are digitally created or simple analog components? I bought the Strymon Mobius and was very dissappointed in how thin most of the effects sounded. @@ozuidema what would you recommend then for a multi effects modulation pedal?
Dan Allen haven’t found a multi-effects modulation pedal that I liked yet, so I rely on separate pedals. The Mad Professor Double Moon combines chorus and flange and is great, but to call it a multi-effect would be a stretch...😀
Boss gt-100!! That thing is awesome for modulation sounds.
anybody know if the tap tempo can be dialed in for the tremolo?
Tap tempo works on every effect
No harmonic tremolo?Too bad...
Si true. HT is so nice on the ehx mod 11!!!
Nice, love the distortion.
I own one. Internal Distorsion is gadget. Way better with a real fuzz ou od before it
Wish you spent more time on the flanger. Didn’t like the initial sounds.
Flanger is really good on the md200
I see, not easy to do the sound check 's and setting. I see
Can we control the perimeter using normal wah pedal? Say like 535Q...
That wouldn't work.
With autowah been tweaking a while with no perfect result. Better on the ehx mod11
Ant!
Plays like little boys .sound as low values pedals .( can be better .I see
$450 us
More like $250
