There seem to be many recorded versions of this, the hit song from the 1918 musical play, "Listen Lester." This instrumental fox trot version of "Waiting" by the Joseph C. Smith Orchestra was recorded August 12, 1919. Billed as a medley, it includes another song from the play's score, "Show a Little Something New."
A few years ago, I presented a Lambert Murphy recording of "Waiting." You can hear the lyrics sung in that version.
"I will be waiting for you Dear, always,
Be it a day or a year;
For I'll be so lonesome when we are apart.
Will you be lonesome, too, Dear?
And, from the first moment I gazed into your lovely eyes,
I had a feeling that's new.
So, if you will only
Just say you are lonely,
You'll find me waiting for you!" - Видеоклипы
It's like a travel in an other world. Years after WWI are very particular. Nice little happy song! Thanks for sharing
Makes me want to go back in time after WWII ! Love the good old days. All of the good old tunes run around in my head most every few days!
Thank you! Hope, the next waiting will not be too long.
Thanks. I also enjoyed the Lambert Murphy recording.
Delightful graphics.
Always very funny to see your special graphical works ;-) Happy weekend
I think I should need my time machine for that!
this is cute!
I wonder why Mr Lester needed to "listen"?
The graphics are very nice and always add a lot to the music.
