Just a great example of Tool's dichotomy and ability to joke around
I like how they deliver this song, make it sound like it's some kind of speech from a Nazi rally, but it's just a cooking recipe. Pretty good example about how a little spooky background music and a foreign language can make it scary.
Welcome to Tool's sense of humor :D They figured having the German spoken word part (where all that can be understood by an English-only speaker is the name of Satan) gradually escalating to sounding like a Nazi rally, when merely all that is going on is a hashish cookie recipe -- well it is a lesson not to judge by appearances but to always look deeper and think for yourself. This sort of thing is one of the many millions of reasons why I love Tool and they are my favorite musicians of all time. Love your reactions, dude. I always get happy when I see you've got a new Tool up. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
LOL!!!!! Reactions to this song are the best!
Greetings from Germany!
“Well they gave you the recipe.” I’m on the floor.
Right?!
LOL. That was classic. Your expression was priceless. Glad to have you back.
Have I ever told you how much I love your laugh? ❤❤
No fucking eggs! We loved you face during this. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
OMG! You have the best expressions!. Spoken recipe in German over top of an industrial sounding track (in reverse) with what sounds like a rally of cheers for the speaker... lol. Can't wait
Oh god I needed that laugh! love this reaction
The song was considered more of a segue on the Aenima album...
Initially, the band had 10 songs going into recording the Aenima album, which was in the record contract with the label (Zoo) - 10 "original" songs. Well, during the mixing process, the label came into the studio and said their version of 'No Quarter' was not an original song by them - thus claiming the band only had 9 original songs and wouldn't get paid for the album.
The band's response was to come up with a number of segues/interludes to fulfill the contract at the last minute... These being: Useful Idiot, Message to Harry Manback, Intermission, Die Eier von Satan, Cesaro Summability and (-) Ions
Glad it got a chuckle out of you! I find it hilarious that its all driving industrial sound with the crowd reactions and the deep, scary voice.... but it’s just a recipe for hash cookies.
Your “recipe of destruction “ comment killed me man 😂🤣
TOOL has a sense of humor.
OMG I was rolling! 🤣😂
Bring it . Love your opinion . Much respect from Michigan .
Another great reaction! BTW, sound levels seemed more balanced. Looking forward to the next one!
Indeed....your face said it all. Yep... Its funny where the mind goes just hearing the tone and sounds not knowing the lyrics but once you get it...delicious balls of satan. Cookie monster indeed. And too.. Tool will always send you on your way once you get the lyrics down...understanding and interpretation will add to the wonderment of the group. ☆
This was funny as hell! haha. So great. Only wish you had gone in cold without English lyrics, just to be SO confused. haha Stoked for Push It.
It's a hashish cookie recipe. In German.
I support this comment.
the REAL turkish delight.
That's awesome! 😄😄😄
Lol. Yes the did give the recipe.
Yup . That was the look on my face ....
some things that seem scary are actually good for you, such as vegan weed cookies. When you get into the lyrics you'll appreciate tool so much more!
vegan? There's half a pound of butter in it!
Ha Ha Ha! I so wish you had listened to this 1st and then read the translation. Still... great reaction. ha ha ha
Excuse the language but that was fucking hilarious. 😂😂
Priceless lol
ZABIMBABAZALADUZALADEM!!
Why did nobody congratulate you on the length of the video? That is... Nice. Especially when you take the recipe into account.
Great video (like always). It would have been more interesting to see your reaction/thoughts to the song without knowing the translated lyrics, and then getting your thoughts once you learn what the lyrics are actually saying...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Seine Reaktion ist Herrlich .
Just baking
It’s a lesson of sort. It’s about how people make assumptions based of face value before they have all the facts. In my interpretation anyways.
🤣🤣🤣 your reaction
Haha haha....so they gave you the recipe
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Balls of Satan.
This is more like a skit in between songs. I think you should include the next track
"Lead singer Maynard Keenan wrote this. It sounds kind of ridiculous because it is in German, but once you understand what he wrote it's quite funny and meaningful. The majority of people listening to this song are going to hear a passionate German speaker and an enraptured, cheering crowed, which they will automatically associate to Hitler his many public speeches. The lyrics, however, are nothing but a recipe for a dessert called "The Balls (Eggs) of Satan." Throughout the speech Maynard is heard saying the phrase, "Und kine Eier." Which means " And no eggs." This is where it gets confusing. Eggs actually DO represent the Jewish people. Eggs are an essential baking ingredient because they give the food it's fullness and texture. Historically, the Jews are known to do the same for any culture they integrated themselves into. Without eggs, a recipe is flat, and without Jews, a culture is flat. In the end it is a political statement, knocking Nazism (comparing Hitler's Jewless nation to the Balls of Satan - a recipe which fails without eggs), and a thumb at Americans, who will immediately associate a German speaker to Hitler, even without knowing the text" (source unknown, a friend forwarded this to me a long time ago)
Actually has a statement (which I'm quite certain you'd agree with).
Now you can like it even more
No Eggs
Tool are freaky genius mofos.......
The song continually states no eggs many time. It is a flawed recipe just as Hitler's flawed ideology. The eggs represent the Jewish culture and without them you lack texture in your country and your recipes. Creative way to show a message in a way that might confuse most and interpret the song as a nazi rant or even a joke.
Wow, whatever dope told you to watch this with the English translation completely ruined the joke. Maynard has an extremely wicked sense of humor (obviously)
Reagierst du wirklich auf einen deutschen song? 😂😂🎶Ehre 👌👌
Ummmmmmmm. Okay
