For years I never realized that there were gonzo elements (like robotic horses) in older D&D (I started with Red Box Basic.) Then I learned that there were futuristic and alien bits present in Blackmoor and the modules that were inspired by it. My younger self wanted my genres separate. Years later, I find it both cool and hysterical. Proto D&D was super gonzo at times!
Years later when OD&D ( as we call it now ) came out with the little brown books one of them was Blackmoor and in it there was the temple of the frog that had a rather large "egg" that was really an escape pod that held a few futuristic items in in like a suit of armor he described and few other things . You can still buy copies of the original d&d along with castle blackmoor on I believe it's rpg drive through
When is this documentary coming out ? I have been coming to this page for ever and this documentary is not out yet . I hope this documentary does not go the way of the other so called documentarys that never got finished or released and its begging to look like that to me . sad . David if you could get some real updates on this, that would be great because I am really interested in the History of D&D and the history of Blackmoor . Thanks
The film makers say they have a draft done that they will be refining so as to be able to release it this coming year. In the meantime, you can follow them on facebook for updates and historical posts.

Amazing that they have kept the campaign going for all of these years. Thanks for posting this!
Robert Meyer has taken over and is now their current DM. It is still the longest running campaign ever.
You can see shots of them playing Blackmoor in 2016 here: ruclips.net/video/pI3-iRNWWeM/видео.html
I really love watching these origin excerpts. Thank you!

The music in the background is really distracting.
Greg Svenson looks a lot like Leonard Nimoy. I'd always imagined him being more a hulking Swedish paladin type person.
Greg is likely as smart as Spock. ;)
Music drowns out his voice. Cut the volume in half.
Our headphones are horrible for mixing. The final film audio was done by an actual sound engineer is much lower.
