I love when we get to see and know more about the faces behind what made our Apple products what they are today. Videos like these really let us get to know the individual on a much more *personal* level, just like seeing Craig and Tim in other videos
In 2020 my Apple Watch detected AFib. I did the suggested ECG and it showed AFib. I went to the urgent care and the nurse checking me in asked to see the ECG on my phone. She looked at it and said “yup” there is the AFib. I was completely checked out and referred to a cardiologist. I was started on blood thinners. Several months later I was exhausted while walking and went to the urgent care. I was diagnosed with heart flutter. My cardiologist referred me to a specialist and I had a Cardiac Ablation. They fixed everything and I am back to exercising an hour a day as I was before. My Apple Watch has improved my life.
I managed to make an ECG with my AppleWatch during a syncope. I have had a couple syncopes before and was prepared to try to get an ECG during one, as I get a warning just before I pass out. The ECG showed ventricular flutter and a MRI showed scar tissue from a myocarditis which I did not know I have had. I got an ICD - so I am forever grateful to Apple for most probably saving my life
Oh my gosh, I love these videos. I've been watching you in Thailand for at least 2 years. You are the best and I wouldn't have been surprised if Dr. Desai went on your show directly. You are very legit, thank you!
I have closed my rings for 593 consecutive days. I’m in much better health because my apple watch motivates me. Waiting for it to do glucose monitoring!
Impressed by how intelligent this approach to giving people actionable health information really is. I cannot wait to see what else these products can do.
I hope Google and WearOS will watch this too. The passion she shows about health and fitness is what I would like to see offered from the Google Pixel Watch team.
I used my Apple Watch for my fitness routine and show improvement while I was getting back into shape. Then on a flight Atlanta to San Francisco, it reported to me that I was in AFib. Didn’t even feel my heart converting and wouldn’t have gone to ER if it hadn’t alerted me. In a sense, it has saved my life as I could have had a stroke and possibly die. I’m a believer and look forward to the next gen of tech Apple brings to the market.
Great video, Rene. More like this, please. We can hear more from people from Apple. But the topic itself is super interesting. Interviews about solving some problems - that’s really something. Great work!
Pressure should be from the drive, the almost obsession for bringing technology to advance health issues. Can you imagine knowing the first time when your sugar level goes to high and then monitoring it to keep your A1C below 6? Now if the same tech can also detect harmful gasses and possibly bring many as yet unknown benefits from new uses of the same tech or combination of the tech already on the device or combination of devices? It would be astounding and a game changer.
Absolutely. I think it'll take a few years for a lot of the really advanced, helpeful sensors to make their way into wearables but the future looks so bright. What would you like to see first/next
I remember just getting up to fast and blacking out (being 6'4 is not always beneficial) and I wondered what happened when the watch started counting. No injuries or help needed, but... reminded me of the feature.
On the section mentioned that arriving to a hospital and not having to worry about any paperwork, that we only tap our phones or watches and ta dah! would be so helpful. That problem is not only in the US. South America too. There is too much paperwork to deal with. Here in the UK than goodness with the NHS you do not need to give anything apart from your name. I understand not all the countries have the same healthcare system as the UK or EU countries and Apple has a very good gap there to fill by using biometrics ID for health insurance. Thank you for you videos Rene!
The features that i am most looking forward to is the blood glucose or even better cgm and body composition analysis kinda like what samsung watch 4 is having but much more accurate. Lastly as always longer battery life.
My Apple Watch is an invaluable part of my fitness and health regimen. That is of course above and beyond it’s normal function as a wearable access to my everyday iPhone experience.
16:30 what Rene's imagining already exists and it works incredibly well. It's called nationalized healthcare and it's pretty amazing. Best example is Cuba.
@@ReneRitchie lol nice 😂 Not sure about the watch but Cuban doctors come to your home regularly for fitness and wellness checks to do health promotion and monitoring. It's true concierge full service care. At the level of outcomes, my bet is on Cuba without the watch versus our system with the watch. Dysfunction elsewhere in our healthcare system only creates business opportunities to build on top of the watch's features. Capitalism creates problems and then sells the solutions back to the victim for profit. In the interim, I think healthcare systems should see the value the watch provides and purchase them in bulk for their patients. It's a dollar well spent on prevention.
@@ReneRitchie can I answer? Lol. I would love to see Siri blow the doors off the competition. They were first, now they’re 3rd in performance, for me at least. Ambient computing is great. The Apple Watch, along with airpods should work amazingly well together at this point, they don’t. My assistant should assist me consistently. Would love to see apple invest in this more. I think pixel will steal away many users if the pixel watch utilizes the assistant well. Also, reminders should automatically be added to calendar n move to next day if not completed. Google cal does this n it’s very useful for me. For some reason, Siri understands reminder prompt better than schedule event prompt. Just my opinion. Thanks.
I love these videos! I wish Apple would offer more health tracking features. Food tracking like from MyFitnessPal would be great but also the ability to connect with your healthcare provider, insurance company, clinics, the pharmacy would be such a great idea.
Rene I would love to know when do they plan on rolling out more features to Canada (ie having access to your health records when you want them just at the touch of a button). They have it in the states but here in Canada we need to call someone in Toronto, pay “x” amount and then wait to have it mailed to us. I would also like more doctors to be able to share digital data with their patients. Example being that before my doctor comes in the room to see me, my information from my Apple Watch and iPhone are already in her computer system. I think this is a US only feature.. we need this in Canada
There is so much what apple should implement in health natively with devices like the watch. Just take a look what Garmin or other manufacturers can do. My health app is such a brief snapshot of my health, it should provide way more and better statistics, trends and data in generell.
@@ReneRitchie Hey René. Well in generell, I find the charts for almost any metric visually bad. Especially the heart rate chart on the AW. You almost get no real information in a glance and If you wanna dig deeper, there’s no chance to do so. VO2 Max Measurings, Fitness Age Determination, Body Battery (Fitness Assist whether to rest or to be active), Recovery Assist, Stress Level Alerts (and ad hoc counter measurements), Run prediction, PacePro (you have to look it up), way better sleep analytics. There is so much other companies offer in this respect, it‘s a shame, apple doesn’t want to step up their game. The circle completion thing is so superficial. it‘s really not that helpful.
The last part about having a dream was really smart such a pity that she didn’t give us any insight to her own dream as well very well played to you Reny Richie

Yeah, say that to the countless Uighur slave labourers working in horrible conditions. "Saving lives and caring about health" while actively violating human rights... Well done Apple, well done
Sorry, Rene, but I consider these claims mere propaganda. I want to hear the downside of this puffery. That would include those who injured and discover that the the pitiful little cellular in their Apple Watch won't reach a cellular tower and those who developed serious heart complications because they thought their Apple Watch would tell them if something was wrong. To put it bluntly, I don't take serious anyone in the Apple news media that doesn't also cover the negatives. I grow tired of the puff.
