    I've run into the same problem in the past. Most recently at the Nationals a few weeks ago. If I allow my ammo to get wet, I start losing primers due to higher pressures. I haven't seen point-of-impact changes but this is service rifle competition rather than F-Class.

    Had a mate that had a tight chamber with limited clearance. He loaded ammo during a light rain, it had water on it. When he pulled the trigger there was a big bang bolt would not lift and the case welded to the front of the bolt and he got a burnt face so it can be dangerous.

    This is why military ammo is sealed at the necks and primers. I've had unsealed ammo deteriorate from humidity over the course of a year or so. I got a bunch of remanufactured .223 for running in my suppressed Tavor and it got noticeably weaker over time until I quit using it.

    Hey John!
    I am intrigued by the structure on that range. How about a video tour and some history of the range, including details about the down range baffles and any other unique structures.

    looks to me like the pressure didn't go up, the ejector is just from the bolt thrust from the increase lubricity. i think if it increased pressure it would have shown signs on the primer too.
    awesome test john!!!

    I've seen you put desiccant packs in your powder. I put one in my loaded ammo box. Say I load my ammo the week before a match, I put a packet in the ammo box, just in case. Keep it as evenly humidified as possible.

    The increase to 2'906fps... Have you checked to see if the cases are now "Clickers"?
    Erik C and Alex Wheeler say that running the 7PRCW faster than about 2'850fps is just asking to see "clickers" developing in your brass... Rollsizer time now...!
    Thanks for the video John... Shooting F Open off a mound in damp conditions is definitely a "thing"... Also have been trying to not have sweaty hands handling the rounds in summer.

    John asside from the brass flow ejector marks from the wet brass, did it ruin those pieces of brass for best "consistency?" Would you now cull those pieces of brass as trash or keep them in your reloading rotation? I do know the brass marks, especially double ejector marks such as my rifle has, affects my COAL/BTO measurements with my calipers. But I was wondering if that is my only variable? 🤔

    I do this to see if the load is too hot. If you spray water on the case and the bolt is hard to lift. You are over pressure. So i would back off the powder charge.

    • @bawhitham23
      @bawhitham23 25 дней назад

      light loads can do this if you spray water on them. spraying water on cases isnt a good indicator to see if you are close to pressure

      @bawhitham23 maybe I need a new way of testing. If you are jamming, a very light load will do it. How do you test?

      @@Whocaresnoone69 I dont jam, ever, and I test at least a half grain past where I intend my load to be and if there is no pressure there I run it

    Do the test again but with lube / CLP in chamber, I wanna see if it is just as bad as water

    • @daveenriquez7790
      @daveenriquez7790 24 дня назад

      I would say yes, the brass case looses it's "momentarily sticking ability" to stick to the chamber wall when it expands rapidly from the shot being fired before it contracts back down and then you open your bolt. While I have not done this with CLP, I did have some residual Boretech Eliminator that probably dripped into the chamber when I removed my bore guide. I didn't mop out the chamber area dry enough during a barrel brake in with one shot clean regime. Because the brass case when fired did not momentarily "stick" to the chamber wall, (due to residual residual bore cleaner), it slammed back against the ejector. This caused heavy bolt lift and ejector marks on my 7mm PRC with factory ammo. After experiencing this, I really mopped out / dried out my chamber and the problem went away.

    I notice when the sun goes down and dew starts to form the bolt gets harder to lift and my groups go to shingles, maybe Im crazy? Maybe the condensation on brass and bullet maybe even in the barrel start to mess with things?
