You are about to get hooked into the ultimate precision game. If you consistently make competitive open F-class rifles, and shoot them, the sky is the limit! Well done.
Don’t over think f class. I have placed top 3 with my 7mm off an atlas bipod and gamechanger. All about staying with the wind with an accurate rifle you are confident in. As with most competition, the hardest step is going to your first match. Go have fun.
That stock is gorgeous. So glad I’m starting to see more pimped out wood stocks.
Yeah 😎
7PRCW is what I was hoping Hornady was going to release when they released the 7PRC. I think the 7PRCW would make a perfect SA hunting round for big game and that is what I would be interested in seeing in the future.
Ummm 7 saum
I've been following your channel for a while and as always you never disappoint. I love your new build and I think you have a winner, so when you get it tuned, go win some competitions for us. You couldn't have chosen a better mentor than Eric Cortina. Eric is it for the wins and for the love of the sport and is always willing to help anyone who shows a genuine interest. Keep us updated on the load development and how well the Cortina Tuner improves your shot placement. I am building a Savage Axis budget rifle in 223 Rem. and so far I have swapped the factory barrel for a Criterion (1-7), machined my own oversized bolt handle, and started load development. I have an MDT LSS Gen 2 chassis on the way, but even with the factory stock that I had to shave down to accommodate the 1" bull barrel, it is shooting one-hole 5-shot groups. Well, at least one group out of the first four groups is one hole for five shots. Thanks for the content and keep them coming.
Marine Tex and Kiwi Neutral Shoe Polish. That’s what Thomas “Speedy” Gonzales teaches. Works great, does not shrink or change dimension. The Kiwi Neutral releases well and unlike so many release agents you’re bedding to the action and not the release agent.
That's a beauty! Already showing great accuracy.
Need one! Always love the builds!
Great build! Good job emphasizing the practice and training part.
That is a really really good looking set up Gavin...i can't wait to follow along and see what becomes of your testing, plus with Eric and F-class Jon's input on the shooting techniques.
Awesome rifle build Gavin 👍. I think that you will do well at your first F-Class match and will have a great time to boot.
Looking forward to the f-class shoot!
Great video. Thats a beatiful looking and functioning rig
For my interest Gavin, incredible video. Congrats, I think you're about to get "hooked". F Class is a special challenge.
Awesome rifle. You're working with the best, so you'll be fine... Good luck!
Sharp-looking gun! Good stuff.
Really happy for you Gavin, congratulations !!
Thanks so much!
Awesome rifle build Gavin 👍.
I think that you will do very well at your first F-Class match. I also think you might just want to shoot more of these 1000 yard once you try it.
Oh I can’t wait you’re going to be with Eric and John on your belly learning from some of the best . Wind calls can’t wait to learn from you all . I don’t shoot FClass but do shoot from a bench in the mid range game . I love that stock .My guess is a new front rest will be in the cards soon lol . Thanks for all your sharing. You keep good company with those boys
ERIK
Beautiful rig. I like the wood for looks.
nice! love the Woox stocks.
Great vid Gavin!
Always impressed by your content.
Wow, amazing load !
Hi, shooting 308 in a pierce action LH with 185 Juggs, started last year in August at 3, 5 ,6 and 9 hundred meters here, love the build you did and all the info, Awesome Thanks
Love the rifle very nice work. Well done mate great work
Maybe using the mirage at your range could help you read wind. If you see it moving, and have a wind meter set up, it could help guesstimate the wind at a match.
I love this scope. I get one for my hunting rifle. Yes, it is heavy piece with1,1 kg. It has perfect glass and precise mechanic for this price, in lover magnificiation it is bright, in high it is little bit dark, but i don´t need spotting scope for hunt for roe deer.
With Eric giving you his expert advice, I mean, that’s like a drop the mic 🎤 deal. Reading the wind is key to be a long distance shooter. Doesn’t matter if you ‘the best equipment money can buy’. If can’t read and adjust for the wind, you’re just pissing in the wind.😂
ERIK
Would be super interesting to see you do a shorter barrel 7PRCW for hunting. A modern 7SAUM without the non-existent brass issue.
I love that idea!
@@Ultimatereloader I was about to pull the trigger on a 7SAUM but now i'm holding off until I see some data for 20-22" barrel on a 7PRCW pushing the same heavy 175-180gr projectiles
Its a top fuel dragster of a rifle. Precision is achieved through 3 key ingredients: Barrel, Bullets, Brass in that order. You have a good barrel that has been machined properly and bedded in a solid chassis. The Berger bullets are legendary, perhaps only surpassed by the precision of monolithic bullets like Peregrine Gliders. Need I say anything more about Lapua Brass???
Stunning rifle!
Gavin build a U style bench. If you go to Barbourcreek long range shooting you will see the benches and how they are set up. You will need to build the front of the bench longer so that you are behind the gun instead of just off to the side. Behind the gun is also how you will be for F class. I have a portable table that I put in the back of my truck that has left and right hand shooting positions which works good on prairie dog towns for two different shooters even shooting both right handed. The U-shaped table will only allow for one shooter. I’m making it with a big 1 inch threaded seat, so that I can raise it up and down per size of the shooter. I really like the way Barbour Creek. has their set up for shooting out of an air-conditioning building and getting on the floor and shooting prone. I really wish you could do that on your range. Right now for my bench. I’m waiting on a piece of inch and a half flooring plywood for my table top so I can build bracing so that it doesn’t bounce. I’ll take a picture of both my tables and I get my plywood for this one.
Barbour creek on U tube of
Course
I never cared for the T shaped benches. It feels awkward hanging off the side and having one arm flapping in the breeze and get consistently in the same position.
Gavin, have you looked at Pro Bed 2000? An actual bedding compound developed by Charlie Robertson at Score High Gunsmithing.
I've always used white shoe polish as a release agent. It almost feels like Redding imperial sizing wax.
Working on a PRS rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor, between you and Erik I'm thinking I may go 7mm PRCW.
Looks like a good start. My hand is a bit shaky and my eyes are failing but that action looks to have a big hole where it shouldn't. Also, the end of the no taper barrel looks awful big. Aside, from that it's looking good but couldn't see the trigger or safety. I suspect the spin velocity of the 6.5 is much much more stable from start to end but you're sure to prove something. ✌🏼👶🏼🚬
Leke new watch Gavin. 😂👍🏽
Always wondered about bedding a rifle with cabosil thickened fiberglass epoxy resin
Would love to see you do a build with a Lothar Walther barrel
I'd recommend you neck turn the Lapua brass if you're going to run that, and cut into the neck of the brass because you're going to introduce donuts after the first firing. The donut won't be a problem if you have enough freebore, but if you intend to play around with seating depth (a big jump will work with this cartridge) then the donut might cause issues. The ADG brass shouldn't suffer from this. Your build otherwise looks alright. I wouldn't use the Woox in an F-Open match, I'd get a proper F-Open stock that has a longer surface area at the butt of the rifle.
Need to go to Texas and shoot the Black Jack Challenge with Erik Cortina
Need to see a video about reloading belted magnums...
Gavin, talk to Erik about how he drills (hollows) out the base of his bullets on a lathe. That is one technique he uses to achieve such tight groups at 1K yards.
FYI that was an April Fools video!
yah, it was a good one too!!!
marinetex or devcon titanium: recommended by speedy as being the most stable
Gavin, I am really surprised that you did not use Erik Cortina’s go to Borden action and Khales scope?
I hate shooting on concrete benches myself. I would choose my portable bench wood top any day.
Do not mess with the seating depth, And the tuner at the same time. Run each test individually then go from there. And that's why you have a tuner on there, so you don't have to mess with seating depth. Otherwise get rid of the tuner and just go with seating depth Test
Yes!
Inspirational, I just got a new rifle I need to make awesome.
Would love to see a oddball like a 6.5x55 Se your vids helped me a lot with a few things I do in my shop
We've been wanting to do that build, and to compare with 6.5 Creedmoor :)
@Ultimatereloader Think that would be a great video and would show what the differences is and cancel out a few theories 🤔
Looks like you need to head down to Eric's place and shoot the blackjack challenge.
Cool build. Can you advise what weight you ended up at with scope and bull barrel?
Get this rifle to 21lbs and the recoil will be minimal. Also you will find a node around 2925 which allows the intent of the magnum to shine.
Would love to see how accurate it was before bedding, and then after. I have been thinking to bedding my KRG Whiskey-3 chassis, would it help.
I like 7828 7 stw
N555 will compromise barrel life compared to H4350
Do you use those spacers for the action screws for the bottom metal on Woox (specifically the Furiosa Ultra) chasis?
nice looking rifle, I follow your videos regularly, I may have missed it, but the 6.5 prc/7prc-w is a medium action round... how are you using it with a short action, the Wooxs is a short action stock?
Single shot sir
Awesome Rifle! Just curious why you use just his tuner, instead of the ec tuner brake?
No brakes in f class
Why did you decide to bed the action without the barrel? Gordy likes to bed with the barrel on the action.
I think Speedy does it with the barrel mounted also and sitting in the shooting rest, the same as it will be used.
I wish someone would neckup the 6.5prc to 358 diameter so I could have the old Rem 6.5 rem mag and 350 rem mag combo rifles, in the new PRC configuration.
Dying to know the charge weight :-)
I did not see anything about “breaking in” in your video?
Gavin, scrap my 7PRC build and rather build a PRcW please
I would love to buy this exact rifle setup. Is that possible?
With the Woox Titano chassis - was it absolutely required to do bedding ?
No- not required, but I felt like it would remove one possible variable!
@@Ultimatereloader I have the Titano too but with a 300 WSM…I did not bed, have not test fired yet…in Alaska - too cold at the moment. Seeing your results made me think about going down that route 👍
How did you get the 1.25" barrel to work with the Woox. as the channel for the barrel only free floats a 1.20" barrel?
he milled it out to fit
@@larrydesantis9800 the barrel or the stock?
What do you use for a seating die for this
Ok ❤ klass hay 416 barerrt relod plis
i would like to build it from real!
How do you think this round would do for a hunting rifle?
I was thinking the same thing :) A comparison to 7 SAUM would be interesting...
Why don't F-class rifles have brakes or tuner-brakes? Is this common throughout the discipline or just EC's preference?
Muzzle brakes are not allowed in F class.
I'd love to have you build me a 6 dasher, but it looks like you'll be way too busy if you can build a good f-class rifle!😩
I think what I always think when you show a few three shot groups. We have no idea how the gun is actually performing because 3 shot groups can easily vary by 60%. The gun looks like it could be really good but we don't know. I cannot count the amount of groups I've shot with where the first three shots go into 0.1 and by 5 it's around .3. I won't deny that you did some top notch work putting it together and the likelihood is high that it's going to perform very well. Also think it's great that you're going to learn from some really good shooters as that's the quickest way to get better. Good luck on your journey. Show us some relevant accuracy testing!
Why not just use 7prc
Big difference! Short action -vs- Long Action
WHAT does Eric and Speedy use to bed???????
Eric uses Marine-Tex
F-Class is lame. Unlimited sighters. Who has the most expensive equipment. No real skill.
Thats why they decide the winners based on receipts and not who shoots the highest score....oh wait
@@Kylef7735 Are you even a shooter yourself, or are you just kissing someone's ass?
