Thanks to fast chain tensioning, both steps can be carried out quickly and easily without tools. We recommend wearing protective gloves for this purpose. Yes, the instructions were really hard to understand and I’m still not convinced I mounted my chain bar properly on my new saw. I’m going to take it off one more time...

      Okay Stihl,
      I looked at the instructions again and they're not worthless that was a bit harsh. They are difficult to interpret.
      We all know the rules, a picture worth a thousand words. So a concise instructional video is worth a couple of million. Lolol

      @@Stihl The screw that holds the "adjuster wheel" in place I noticed as two identical holes one on either side. Does it matter which hole i secure the tension adjuster wheel with??? When I disassemled my bar and the ""adjuster wheel I thought I had lost a screw. Glad to know there is only one screw but which hole does it belong in or does it matter?

    The new tension system is such a pain in the ass. Why change something that worked so well before?

  • @joemartin6536
    @joemartin6536 3 года назад

    That was the detail that I needed. Showing every step of the way helped me make notes and I'll have them with me each spring and fall. The hint that there is a triangle diamond facing forward on the bar on the teeth is also very helpful in determining the direction of the many teeth facing different directions. How to tighten with the wheel was also great, but the fact I needed to unlock the chainsaw first to allow the chain to loosen on the bar was the most important way to start. I'm heading outside to follow your instructions now. Thank you!!!

    Really useful video. Stihl have really broken something that didn't need fixing with this overly complicated and ( I suspect) inferior bar mounting system. Whats wrong with the usual one?

      Hello ANDERSON BR,
      Thank you for your comment.
      The MS 500i has more power than the MS 462, and due to the injection technology the MS 500i also has a higher chain speed. Can you tell us why you think that the MS 462 is more efficient in felling?
      Best regards,
      your STIHL team

    Can the bar be turned over with that tooless adjuster

    • @imminer2

      Yes but you have to move the sprocket to the other side of the bar

    • @Stihl
      @Stihl  3 месяца назад

      Hello! Yes, the bar can be turned over as long as the sprocket is on the other side and as long as the guide bar has two holes.

      Hello Joshua! Thank you for your comment!
      It would be a little bit difficult to determine why you are unable to tension your MS 180 C-BE without having seen the chainsaw, and the best option would be to visit your authorized dealer to help you with this. You can locate more information regarding tensioning the saw chain within the manual. If you do not have a manual handy, you can always locate one on our official website! www.stihl.com

    Time for a wt-215 walbro adjustable carburetor to come on that thing! Seriously though it should really have a better carburetor. It's such a great little saw but it's so much more capable when it runs efficiently.

    I don’t believe you have to hold the nose of the guide bar up with the quick chain tensioner.

    The tension wheel is a terrible design. Whose fingers can move that wheel, like a childs fingers?
    I legit follow these steps to a T and my 2 day old Stihl 180c throws the chain.
    I would stop using the word easy tbh.
    Easy for a pro maybe.
