  • This is a brief overview of the Stihl MS 180 that I've had for about 6 months now. If you have questions about this particular saw, just leave a comment and I'll try to answer them. Thanks!
ps - I don't claim to be any sort of expert about chainsaws. The only saw I've owned before this was a Poo-Poulan Pro that was total garbage.

I just bought the same saw. Without fully reading the manual yet, I was getting annoyed by the choke. Your tip about pulling the trigger to set the choke was helpful. Thanks!

I plan to do a follow up video soon. I learned something last week that probably needs to be shared to help prevent other frustrations.

Nice man, I have the same one and love it. FYI chain lock is pushed in the forward most position. Safety 3rd!!!

I added a follow up video today that may help troubleshoot the ready chain tensioning system if anyone is interested.

    Can you adjust the carburetor

Not like a normal chainsaw carb, BUT you can adjust the idle speed, which I did myself recently. This is an old video from someone else but it shows you how to do it. You just need a very skinny flathead screwdriver. Clockwise makes it idle faster. ruclips.net/video/fyxn0R2u-Qs/видео.html

Hi Diego nice video, i want to buy Ms 170 or 180? Worth the extra money for the 180? Is there any significant difference between them?

I've never used the 170, but the only difference I can see is the 180 has a slightly larger engine (31.9cc vs 30.1). On my local dealer website I don't see the MS 170 having the C-BE variant (which is the easy start and easy chain tensioning). I'd shell out the few extra bucks for those options for sure.

You need to upgrade to the .50 gauge chain and bar like I did

You know you can upgrade the bar amd chain to a fifty gauge

It works just fine like it is for my purposes. If I was going to fell trees with it I would probably upgrade it. For cutting limbs and stuff it is fine. I CAN see how heavy stuff could bend the bar for sure.
