***ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
You found this video because you were searching how to put a new chain on a Stihl chainsaw or maybe you were wondering, how do i put my chainsaw chain on properly?
Well I'm happy to tell you, it's not hard at all.
Believe it or not some people have put the chainsaw chain on backwards only to find out their chainsaw isn't cutting properly. I will also show you how to put on a chainsaw chain the right way.
When you remove the cover where the chain and sprocket are housed, take time to clean in there as well. It gets loaded up with sawdust and bar oil. You can bet clean chainsaw will operate better and not cause future problems.
Not only do I clean under the cover when I change chainsaw chain, I will clean it when it's time to sharpen the chainsaw chain.
Once your chain saw chain is on, be sure to tighten the chain properly as I show you in this video. Also once the Stihl chainsaw chain replacement in complete I will run the chainsaw at a low RPM so that the chain is rotating on the bar slow for up to 2 minutes.
This way the chain get broke in slowly and I can check to make sure everything is good before I start using the chainsaw for cutting wood and putting it to heavy work.
So this is how to put on a chainsaw chain the right way and I hope my video helps you.
Good luck on how to install a chainsaw chain, you should be golden!

I have same but that I dint get oil on that bar
We couldn’t see how u take it off like unscrew the cover for people that never owned a chainsaw before no help
That little saw cut right through that log real fast! Thanks for sharing!
I just got through changing a chain on one of these. I tried the "leave the blade on" approach and ended up cussing Stihl to no end. Let me just say that way doesn't work easily. This approach looks promising. I will try it next time.
Nice video. There is nothin' better than a nice, sharp, chain saw!
You blocked the view while putting the chain on the sprocket. I really wanted to see how you adjust the wheel on the bar while putting the chain on it. I'll check for other videos.
Good video! We run a couple different Stihls on our place -Josh
Aww man do I have to subscribe again? Smiley already made me do it once LOL. Great tips buddy.
More useful info ! Thanks
Hi Roland, we have my dad's Steal chainsaw and it is about or I've 50 years and it is like you said. Still going strong. 💕NonnaGrace
Looks like it worked pretty good Roland! Stihls are good saws. Mark has a big ole Dulmar. Great Job! God Bless! Take Care!
Love your how to video's Roland.. wait.. was waiting to see you cut that whole tree... you didn't finish lol you left it bleeding on the forest floor lol. hit the like.. the thumb and sub.
This was a good video Roland! I love the chain tensioner on that saw and the how it locks. Every chainsaw we have ever had, required a screwdriver to access the chain sprocket area to either put the chain back on or tighten the chain. We currently have an Echo that gives us OK performance. Will be putting it to the test in the next few weeks filling our new raised beds with tree debris from some trees we took down. Excellent video. - Rick
Went through like butter... Good video... Thanks.
Well you made that look easy Roland. TYFS. I learned about which direction the chain should go. Bill always fixes our chain saw so I'm clueless....
Hey, you did not show how you removed the bar/chain panel to get to the chain and bar....
Hey hey....❤⬆
good tutorial, with some nice simple tips. nice video
Awesome guide thank you friend
Great job, saw cut nicely into that big log. 👍
my new chain is insanely tight. the store said it is the right one but it is so tight I got smoke from my clutch trying to get it to turn
turns out the chain was a 1.3mm not the 1.1mm the bar required
Good instruction, Roland.
Tnx
You're welcome 😊
Huge help! Thank you!!!!!!!
Thanks Roland. Good information to have.
Great video ☺️👍. Thank you for sharing 👍
Good info!
My sthil is an invaluable tool on the farm.
Dude, you started in the middle of the job
well done.
Thumbs up good job catch you Later
Surprised you did not mention making sure the chain oiler does not pack up with sawdust and to check that it is working...
How do I know that it's working as it should? I blow that hole out each time I blow off the rest of the saw when I'm finished using it for the day. What else can I do?
@@Mojo32- Are you taking the bar off every time ? It packs in pretty heavy.
@@TheCanadianBubba When I'm finished using it for the day or job, yes i take the covers (around the air filter/plug and the bar/chain) off, including the bar and chain completely off and blow it off with my blow gun.
@@Mojo32- Do you have to add bar lube ? If yes it's going somewhere. If no time to find the plug up.
@@TheCanadianBubba Yes, I add it every time (at least) that I fill up the fuel. So like you said, it is going somewhere. How would I know if enough is coming out though? It's not like it's empty each time I add some.
Didn't show much about changing the blade
You shouldn’t stand between the camera and the chainsaw.
I couldn't see because of your arm
Not helpful...You started 1/2 way through the process? What about taking it off?
Nice of you to make the effort but this was pretty disappointing. I didn't want to see you cut a log I wanted to see how to change the chain. I'm a first time saw owner and expected to watch you step-by-step. I'm afraid this wasn't much help.
Your arm blocked half of what you did and then you edited out the part about tightening the chain. Good video if you actually already know what you are doing I guess. 🤷♂️
Hilarious, not helpful. You didn't show how to replace a chain.
