    Something to keep in mind, the Pro and Base offer USB-C video out at 4k/60. The micro hdmi only supports 1080p/60 and you toggle between them with a reboot in the Odin menu.

    I don't understand. First people complain about the RK3326 and say it's dated and they're charging 80$+ for that chipset then they complain about the Gpd xp and say it's way to overpriced(350$ to 400$) for the performance (I agree) . Then they say the powkiddy x18s controller quality is ass. Then they say get a phone poco phone and a 70$ controller. Which I think the controller is poopoo, the battery life is ass and enjoy your 21:9 aspect ratio with your ugly black bars. Then the Odin comes out to be priced around 200$-300$ for a way better chipset than the Rk2336. An amazing feeling controller, analog triggers, grips on the back, long ass battery life and great GameCube performance and so many titles. The steam deck is super cool and yes more powerful and it should be for you to be carrying around something of that size. I just can't believe people are writing this product off when it's performance is better than the Rk3326 ,cheaper than the GPD xp, way better built in controller than they powkiddy x18s Razer kishi and the Gamessir x2 and around 250$ to 300$ wtf are ya complaining about.

      Lol I’m honestly so triggered too reading all these comments from here and Taki Udon’s videos. Some people are even claiming that both of them sold out, and shouldn’t be promoting this because they think it’s a scam to sell an older chip for that price. Theres also a number of them thinking it’s 1000 dollars, and not realizing it’s HKD lol! But yeah idk I think people are just trying to justify what they own already. This is highly competitive to the market, but they still might prefer to spend less money overall.
      After having tried the controller attachment thing, I wasn’t too impressed. It’s much better than it was in the past, but the added convenience of a real dedicated device is miles better. There’s too many issues that come with trying to use your own personal phone (or even an old one) as a gaming device. Like for me, I just really don’t like having to exit out of games just to answer a call or text. It also takes longer to setup properly to be enjoyable. Then there’s the whole needing to take your phone case off probably. It’s cheaper but still not as good as people are making it out to be imo. This is completely meant for gaming and is catered to it. Phones are phones. And the Steam Deck.. Well, that’s a handheld PC and in a completely different price bracket. The two aren’t really that comparable.
      The 21:9 comment though.. Lol that’s so true. The Kishi or even the GameSir makes it soooo long. The Steam Deck and also the Razer Qualcomm especially. With the Deck I don’t even think people are realizing how massive that thing actually is. Our hands kinda dwarf in comparison. I mean they literally had to move the buttons so high up, just so you can reach the triggers. It looks great but I’m not so sure I like the size of it. It’s probably pretty heavy too. I can’t imagine myself bringing it to too many places.

    We all know that the battery will not last much more then 2 years. The joysticks might need replacement, being mechanical and the d-pad buttons will need cleaning. The fan will need replacement and cleaning as well. Is there a thermal paste or some equivalent inside?
    How hard will it be to find parts and how hard will it be to service this device in 2 years?

    Looks like quite a nice device. A product like this hasn't been available with this kind of polish yet. But with mobile games typically being awful and the Steam Deck releasing soon, I'm not really that interested in an ARM powered Android device of this kind anymore. If you're already getting a Steam Deck, I don't really see a point in also getting this device unfortunately. Maybe battery life but I don't expect to play that long on a handheld.

    • @Justin-xi6ue
      @Justin-xi6ue 2 года назад

      Definitely. I’d say the Steam Deck has a good spot in the market. But I don’t actually expect it to completely launch in February lol. It’ll take until at least June or later I suspect to get to people if it does start to ship (just look at the PS5). With the Deck you’d also have to be okay with how large it is. You definitely won’t be bringing it around to too many places, besides home. It’s also at nearly double the price of the Odin. The lowest tier Steam Deck is still 400 dollars and really isn’t the advisable one to buy either, due to the small amount of storage and with it being eMMC and all.

    Great content as always. I've commented on this device on other videos and channels, but one thing I'm beginning to wonder is if the proliferation of devices like this is going to spurn more devs to release games on Android; even if they are AAA games from days past. Alternatively, a bigger push to get more people subscribed to Stadia. Perhaps they could find a niche and some revenue in Android releases? This was pushed pretty hard with the Nvidia Shield TV (I have Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 running natively on Shield from Google Play). This isn't 2015 anymore, though. There are Android portables everywhere (not to mention our game console-like phones and tablets; some of which overpower the Nintendo Switch, and we see third party and AAA getting better and better on it as the platform ages), I'd like to eventually see for instance the Crysis trilogy, Dying Light or even Doom 2016 come to the platform. I know there are streaming services like Stadia, but the adoption rate *could* be better and maybe offering some games naively could be an extra source of income for devs and a benefit to players.

    Obviously they intend the 845 to be the more powerful chip because they're calling the Dimensity version "lite" but looking at benchmarks between those two chips... it looks like it's a close race to be honest. The 845 was a flagship chip in 2018 but the Dimensity just came out 6 months ago, and it has that Wi-Fi 6 and Android 11 that are missing from the pro...

    There's an error on the specs, sd845 has Adreno 630, 640 is from sd855. Imo none of the models are worth it, lite is a midrange soc so there's no point on many of the features and the higher models have an soc that is EOL, Qualcomm won't support it anymore and the device totally depends on people the community doing something which is not ideal.
