Swahili has a clarity to its sound that gives the impression that it could be readily learned by foreigners, unless of course it is outweighed by a complicated grammar. (By contrast, my own language English is quite a mess.)
I am just learning Swahili and it is very hard to understand with loud music pounding the ear at the same time. Would be much better without any music interfering.
The two languages go way back. Swahili has been heavily influenced by Arabic since around the middle ages and to this day, Arabic words make up a majority of Swahili's vocabulary. But they are not related. Swahili is a Bantu language from the Niger-Congo family, while Arabic is a Semitic language from the Afroasiatic family.
I just came here to listen to Swahili. It's such a beautiful language.
